Thanks for sharin' this... you can feel the party vibe upon entry to The D. I like that! The employees have smiles... I really like that! Stevens have been good for downtown Las Vegas!

The skeptical side of me has to wonder how the cameras just happened to be there?

Maybe because many of the "reviews" you see in the papers and on tv are basically promos for a particular product?

I can understand the skepticism but in this case, I don't think it's warranted. I have been at the Longbar when Derek Stevens has come in and talked to customers and bought drinks. We've seen him wandering around the casino twice out of our last 4 or 5 trips. As for Vital Vegas being there, well from reading his blog, he does get around!

Even if Derek realized the guy from VV was taking pictures, you gotta give him credit for making an evening to remember for those gals! That's just great customer service

Great post, thanks. Maybe he can parlay his success at The D into turning around the Plaza and LVC. Not sure if he has any interest in doing so, but this is the kind of casino operator downtown needs, IMHO.

Great Article! I'm not surprised to hear what a great guy Derek Stevens is. I went to the Golden Gate last November and ran into Derek. Talked to him for a few minutes, I mentioned that I was from the same part of Michigan as him and we had a very friendly conversation. He was mingling with the other customers and being as friendly as possible. It was really nice to see the owner amongst his customers.

I met him many years ago when he first bought the baseball 51's. I had a seat right behind homeplate. He came out and shook hands and greeted all the premium ticket buyers. He seemed very genuine.

Well if he happens to be there when I stop in, I'll offer to but him a drink!

Maybe he's deaf or partially deaf, anyone visiting the D at night knows they blast the music. If he is around at night he would know that the music is too loud for many.

I see many celebrities act that way (friendly, generous, etc.) when the camera is on, then totally change when the camera is off so sorry if some of us seem skeptical. And judging from the pictures, Derek knew that the camera was on him. But great for him to use the free publicity.

    I hear ya

I hear ya, mainly because I'm skeptical of everything! In this case, though, I'm the guy that does Vital Vegas, and I can assure you I have no affiliation with The D or Derek Stevens. I hang out there quite a bit, and always have my camera for the blog, of course, so thought I'd share what I see on a regular basis. The way Derek does Vegas is old-school, and definitely say "hi" when you're there. Thx. 'gambler' for the share!

    Hear, hear

Especially true in Vegas! With many of the magazines in Vegas, an advertiser can buy the cover and have advertorial written about their venue or show--making it look like journalism. I know because I wrote for one for awhile.
