If there are any, what circumstances would get you to stay somewhere in Vegas that you don't enjoy? Have you repeated a stay at a place you did not enjoy the first time?

There are too many choices, if I stay at a place and don't enjoy it I have no reason to go back.

The exception to the general "why go back rule"... if you have to go for work (e.g. conference), and the company is paying the bill. I've stayed at a property or two in this scenario which wouldn't have been in my top 20 places to stay :) (e.g. I roughed at the Riviera once - and made it through the experience to talk about :) )

I can't see how any one would want to stay somewhere they don't enjoy. There are so many places with various vibes and atmospheres and many of them with similar price levels. Vegas has something for everyone.

So no, I won't stay somewhere I don't enjoy. I simply can't see why anyone would want to.

At this point in my life there is almost nothing I do that I do not enjoy. Life is way too short. I am not that difficult to please though. Caesars and NYNY are two properties I stayed at that I am not dying to go back to, but they were far from unpleasant. And if the offer was right.......

I checked into the Aria my first visit and had very loud neighbors (at least 15-20 people drinking and partying. I asked for another room but they didn't have any (was sold out). I wasn't feeling well (had a bad cold pre-trip), so I left my 3 night comped stay two hours into it and had to scramble to find other accomidations on the fly (ended up at El Cortez Vintage for night 1, El Cortez Tower rooms the rest of the trip - it was a very busy fight weekend).

Tried Aria again a few years later without incident. The rooms there are nice and I like that they offer Stand 17 at the Green Chip level. Will have to try their poker room one of these trips.

Not sure if I would pay for a room there, but would return if comped (would pay to stay at Wynn/Encore over Aria if looking for a 5 star room). I stick with comped rooms these days, with an occasional paid room to knock off a hotel I haven't stayed at off of my Vegas Checklist.

    Yep.

Since when I visit my local Turning Stone casino in good weather I am happy to sleep in the back of the van at a local campground, I agree there just are not any casino hotel places in Vegas I don't enjoy.
"Look here, hot water right in the room!" "And I don't have to bring my own bed and towels?
    Well, gollyyyyyyyy!!"

For the most part I want to stay where the VP tables give me an advantage or the poker tables rake low and include some fish. And I want access to buses. So location is more important than amenities.

And the best thing about Vegas is that I can do a trip of 20 plus nights on an average of $15 a night in Vegas, ( well, maybe $20 now with resort fees everywhere) while camping in NY costs $25 a night.

I have, but that was back before there was so much info available and more importantly my per-diem was raised. Can't believe I stayed at Arizona Charlie's on Decatur, Circus Circus Manor, Gold Coast, Palace Station and others. I've had the opportunity to stay at most places on the strip and many downtown... many I've liked more than others, but other than Arizona Charlie's, CC Manor and the Plaza (circa 1999 or so), I can't say I hated them... I can usually find something fun and positive in just about anything.

Assuming this is a trip of my choosing, of course not? Why would I?

I'm wondering if there was a place in Vegas -
    for the past 25 years - that I didn't enjoy ?
    *
I pretty much have fun anywhere I stay.
And I've stayed from low end to high.
    *
Now, some people don't "enjoy" a place because
    they lost in their casino.
Read those Trip Reports on Trip Advisor and
you'll see "we hated the place".
Just read between the lines...."We lost...we hated it !":evillaugh
Same with the other way around --
"We can't wait to return !" :evillaugh ( because we won )
    *
    I'm with Ken, on this one....if I didn't like it - why would I return ?

I have. I stayed at Aria in 2012 - just wasn't that impressed. Couldn't win a plug nickel and didn't care for the selection of slot machines they had. But they sent me a really good offer last spring, so I gave it another try. I still couldn't win a plug nickel, and once again, I just wasn't impressed with the property - and not only because I lost :).

No i dont think i would.

The places I stay all are all about the same price so I might as well get the most for me hard earned money and feel comfortable there.

Slightly off topic, but I have PLAYED in a lot of places where I would never STAY. Normally I have 2 or 3 rooms around town so as long as I like ONE of them it doesn't really matter to me if the like the others as long as the GAMES are good.

Current example: I play at the El Cortez but would never dream of staying there, especially with the wife. Also played at the Vegas club for ever and would never stay there either (of course now you can't with the hotel closed!).

There was a time when my list included the Plaza, The D and Lady luck. Now I would stay at all 3.

So funny, I have STAYED in a place where I didn't PLAY. The Plaza is an example, lvc is another.

As for the OP's initial question, yes, I stayed somewhere that I didn't enjoy and I went back to stay again at a later date.

It was at the IP (surprising right?). My first encounter with the IP wasn't that great, felt like I had to walk miles to find my room. Check in lines were (still) long and slow even then. The room faced some wall or some a/c unit and so it was noisy. Although this was decades ago the room was also dirty and threadbare. I stayed there for 2 days and then moved over to the Flamingo (I think, so long ago). After staying at the IP the flamingo was heaven.

A couple of years later I stayed at the IP with a friend (although I initially bitched and moaned about it). He showed me the "secret" back elevators so I didn't have to wait with the masses at the main elevators all the time or have a long walk to my room. While worn, the room faced east and so was nice and quiet. Basically the price sold me, the IP is and was the cheapest place to stay on the center strip.

I stayed there a few times after that and now enjoy the place (not sure when it fully becomes the Quad though). I realized that you get what you pay for, don't expect the Ritz when paying IP rates. Besides, I don't stay in my room much, mostly to just sleep so I try not to spend a lot on a hotel room.

I think it really depends on the reason why you didn't enjoy it the first time. If the reason why I didn't enjoy it is eliminated, I would consider going back.

This! I had planned to try every hotel in CET's Vegas collection but after just gambling at the Flamingo, I'm not even going to bother. I'm underwhelmed with the service I've had there so far. But at the same time, management changes and places get renovated so never say never.

I did stay somewhere again even though I don't really like it and that was IP. I needed a dirt cheap Saturday and they were the cheapest. The room was better than I expected but still horribly outdated even with renovations but the people at the check in desk were so crappy it soured me on the place for different reasons.

I have done it. My last trip was during a M&G from another Forum and a bunch of the folks I especially enjoy were staying at Harrah's which underwhelmed me on a previous trip. But, the hotel is only part of the experience, and that trip was all about hanging with my friends. I had a BLAST but I still don't like Harrah's
