    My Trip Report

    Semi special trip

My dad turned 65, he retired 2.1.2015. 25 yrs of running a small mom and pop restaurant. Congrats to them. So to celebrate they wanted to come to Vegas

Called up my host. Set up a 1bdrm studio at Cosmo. I prefer the layout of the terrace studio though but my parents have never seen Cosmo.

They drove down to visit me from nor cal earlier in the week. We leave Los Angeles at 1015a. Get to Vegas at 130p. I think this the first time my bladder cooperated for a drive.

I'm not sure what it is about driving to Vegas but I seem to need to stop a few times

We are Chinese. So we end up at joyful Chinese restaurant for lunch. On spring mountain rd. it's funny. My parents travel all over and always ask where the china town is. Paris, London, New York, Las Vegas. Seems like my dad needs to eat rice. Foods pretty good Cantonese food.

We go to ranch 99. A asain market to stock up on fruit and drinks. Then check into Cosmo

VIP Check in is retarded now, I reported earlier that they took away the fruit, tea, coffee. It don't think it's ever coming back. Also check in there seems worthless as everyone uses it. The wait is probably just as long as it seems everyone in the VIP room has crazy requests.

We get in 55 floor, view of bellagio. Mom now tells me she's afraid of heights. But she can appreciate the balcony. First thing they do is turn on both TVs to 2 different Chinese tv stations

My trip is starting and I go down and start playing. Not sure now to post pucks from my iPad yet...

The last 2 times at Cosmo I walked into VIP, saw the line and the commotion, and just checked in at the front desk...

Past 2 trips I'd get my self in a big hole early. Then play from behind which kind of sucks. I decide to change it up. Many tables 8 deck $15 min. 3:2 black jack. Double any split, re split aces x4. Hit s17.

All 2 decks besides high limit are 6:5 black jack and only split aces once.

I think paigow poker is gone, and I don't ever remember seeing tiles anywhere at Cosmo. Many Asians prob won't come here due to this?

500 buy in, can always swap to blacks at any time...
Run it up to 2500. Then the table leaves mid shoe... I stick around and get no where. I take off and run 100 through a 5 dollar slot and hit for 600.

Parents come down. I don't want them to know my level of play so I cash out. Played some red chip with them unrated and lose 100.

Time to show them downtown and check out the grand.

Good luck to aceten and riddickbull this weekend. I think they are both here also.

Skipped dinner and went to show my parents downtown. Walked up and down Fremont. I wanted to check out the grand as it's semi new... Casino looks like a throw back to the industrial period. Exposed black venting. Old brick style exterior.

Wasted 500 playing poorly disciplined black jack with baccarat during the shuffles.

For me, downtown places feels like the local tribal casino minus craps and roulette. Nice to check out but not for me.

Drove back to Cosmo. Parents asked about secret pizza as I was talking about it earlier. Got a slice for them. Being Chinese they complain about the price. 6 bucks a slice. Also they don't really get thin crust pizza. It was compare to costco pizza, which is packed full of toppings and only 1.99.

Dad had bad luck today so he was done. I sneak back down to play.

Start out in high limit. Take out a marker. Play maybe 6 shoes with another guy. Up and down. It the night where u can win ever base bet but lose all the pressed bets and doubles and splits.

I tried some craps. 15 min spots were open all night. Only one guy hit a few points. After not going anywhere with 3 shooters I leave. I play blackjack on the main floor. Lots of 25 tables with 8 decks.

Rough start, got better at the end, played green chips for 4-5 hrs and almost caught up with my marker. At 6 am they closed the whole pit by book and stage

Cosmo pit rating stinks. They have a comp terminal with average bet entered in the seat position. They rarely adjust it. Also at shift change the pit resets the clock Hard for them to tell

Falling asleep as I write this. Details later.

You are like me, when my mom shows I cut back on the gambling quite a bit. Just play tiles with her for 1 yellow chip at a time.

Must be a son thing! I am sending my mom and her friend to LV as a gift. She wants me to come along. I don't know what I would do with myself, I certainly can't let her see how much I drink and gamble!!

I feel like I would be stuck sipping a foot long fruity drink watching the Bellagio fountains the entire trip!! ha!

Seems like my stream of consciousness cut off or the iPad auto correct blame is in order

My previous thought. Looks like at shift change for the pit boss they cycle your name when the new guy comes. The data from the night crew gets cleared and goes to some central computer and they can't tell u how long you have been there total. Gotta track down a host.

One day I'll learn English better. Example
10 pm to 6 am. They have $100 x8 hrs. Shift change the pits new crew type away at the machine. 601am to 7 am $100 x1 hr The new pit crew doesn't have the old information and it will just say. 1 hr

Side thoughts. The high limit room rates you much more fairly. Seems like they actively manage and monitor the changes. I play last base so I was watching the monitor.

Seat one was playing 4 green for 1 shoe, they put him at 100/hr. For the next hr he started with 2 hands 4 green chips. That lasted 4-5 shoes. He was rated for just 100x total time he was entered

Seat 3 was playing single black for about 2 shoes. They left him in the computer for at least an hour after he left. He was felted so the boss didn't come by for the color up glance

Last base. I was entered at 150 for the whole time, despite dropping to play single greens for extended periods.

New day, 3 hrs sleep. Time to head to the buffet with my parents. Gonna try my luck at an MGM property hit and run style.

Usually I set some hit and run goal. Buy in 1 k and walk when I profit 1k. I usually will get to 1,975, be one chip away and lose it back down and then start chasing.

I have this problem of getting sucked into carnival games.
Stupid let it ride and casino war. Kept burning a 100 here and there

I realize I suck at baccarat. I'm gonna write down my "guess" 10 hands deep and just do the opposite.

First time this has happened to me. My family was heckled by the people in the buffet line as we used the invited guest line. Instead of causing a scene I just walked by.

30 bux per person weekend brunch. No crab legs or Chilean seabass. Dad likes buffet for the variety. Since it's his retirement it's his way this trip.

On to the gaming, man bellagio dealers are nice, seem a little older so the conversation flows easier. Choppy shoe after shoe. Played 2 hrs on a 2k buy in and hover around 1300.

I play war and it's ugly. Back in the days when it was in a shoe instead of a csm I used to do well with 2 hands. Now I just lose and font learn my lesson :nono:

Got back to blackjack there was a man from china who didn't speak a lick of English. There's 2 things I hate doing in Vegas. 1 translating 2 talking about my job. Anyways the table moves so slow with him there so I take off. Move around. Go on a semi heater. Of course I donk off a few hundred as the deck cools. Lost a big split and take off back to Cosmo

Play at Cosmo, go on another heater. Enough to pay off the previous days marker and then some. People interrupted my heads up play and didn't want to wait. Again I lose a big split. And I color. Had some left over chips to play $ 15 double deck. Blow through 200 in 3 minutes.

    Over all worked out well.

Got the brick from bellagio and paid off my markers with 2500 left overs

I just hope I can keep up with my parents loses and shopping!

    Break time

Thank you, firstkill, enjoying your TR a lot!
Especially like the reporting of the gambling in combination with the more personal stories about your parents.
Funny how you have to conceal your usual playing routine for your mom, I love it! Keep it coming, please...

Lucks a funny sob. House keeping comes at 3pm so I leave my room and end up burning 1k quickly

2 ugly tables. All my 20s are met with pushes. My doubles and splits miss. Had to force my self to go to the room before I go on tilt...

Ate at this Chinese food place off strip 1900 asain cuisine. It's a shanghai style of Chinese food. Pretty good for more authentic food. (Not Panda Express style)

Tonight will be my last push, will burn my promo chips.

Cosmo promo chips are 1x play. I'll try my best to explain in English
So they are not match plays, so you do not need to use regular chips with them.
If you get them, and play 1 chip. Say a black promo
    1. Lose, and they take it
    2. Push, it stays
3 win, they take it and swap it with a real chip. So you just end up with one black chip and the promo is dropped in their box.

So I just use them for double and splits. These situation force you to use another chip anyways but at least I have a higher chance of winning when I use then. Still sucks that you don't keep it even if you win.

Goal of trip is to break even with my parents losses, I didn't ask for their chip count yet.

Writing this Monday morning. Did not have energy as I was the driver home.

Sat night starts with black jack. I leave my cash in to room safe except for whatever was in my wallet. I know I'm not leaving the property. I take a $4k marker, proceed to play. I could never gain any traction, and over many shoes I get whittled down. I had roughly 2500 and move around to play 15 min to cool off. Man that tables was the roughest of the night.

Every split or double over 3 shoes never connected. I was 0/6 on doubles and 0/4 on splits. Even playing 15-20 a hand I blew through 500. My bottle of "free water" was getting expensive.

Okay craps time. $15 min pass line, I decide I will play with the table. A guy hits 3 points and numerous numbers for my come bets. I to
Bought it was turning around, eventually he 7s out.

I usually play pass, odds then 2 come bets. Unfortunately the next 3 shooters including me rolled exactly 4 times. Number, number, number, 7. All winnings from 1 st shooter gone and then some.

I leave the table and dabble in 6:5 double deck. I swear each time I cut, double or shoe it's just crappy. I get leached out. Bounce around end up with one purple. I call it a night being down 3500, over 5 hours of play.

Got that feeling, telling myself fck Vegas, I hate this place I'm not coming back for a while. Walk to the main cage, damn it was packed. Walked back to the high limit cage. It's in the corner next to the roulette table. It's dead in the room, 3 players each at different baccarat tables. No one talking. Walk up to the cage, guys not at the window.

I spy thr roulette board as it's literally 5 feet from the window, I see a "pattern". Just like those baccarat guys seeing patterns in the board. I tell my self minus 3500 is no different than minus 4000.

The pit guy has to walk over to supervise the dealer. I feel bad for the high limit roulette dealer. It's dead, he has to stand and it's an isolated table. No one to talk to, and the pit person doesn't even hangout there unless someone is gambling. I walk up to the table, they seem to know what I'm up to. I proceed gamble. Red vs black, single 0 wheel. I flat bet the purple. I go 8 for 10, hitting red 5 in a row, 6th spin was black lose my red bet. Switch over to black get 3 in a row, lose the 10th spin to red, #1. Now I'm sitting with 3500, chased it all back. I start to lose my nerve. Trying to hit a " goal". Many times I have been 1 or 2 chips short of the goal number and losing much more. I decide to hold the purples, dig around my wallet. And try a few spins with 100. End up with 3800 in chips and say close enough. I had enough cash to cover the 4k marker. By this time it's made it back to the cage. My 2 bottle of water cost 300 bux.

Sunday. Slept for about 5 hrs. Get packing and take our bags to the car. I wanted to take my parents to Milo's. But I get suckered into playing walking from the west tower to the escalators near the chandler bar. After 1.5 shoes I was up 52.50. Parents were behind me watching and I felt the "let's leave vibe".

Milo is a great lunch, price hike for the 3 course to 22.14. Also the diver scallop is off the menu, value of the menu is a little less but still an okay value. The supplements items are a little expensive. Parents loved it, western food is always compared to chains for them, so they said it's better than red lobster. ( we like that place) I took that as a win.

Drive back is mostly traffic free. Took us 4 hours. I let my host check out for me to clear my room charges. I don't keep track of points at Cosmo, seems worthless as their website sucks.

Total tally, I try not to count there as it changes so often
    Gas 60
    2 off strip meals 75
    Bellagio buffet, express comps
    Parents gambling. Minus 2300
    Room, food Cosmo. Comp

After covering the above I'm positive 2600. Just enough for this months credit card bill.

    Till next time.
Vegas, the place I can hate when I'm there but I hate to leave just as much.

    Fk
