I plan on venturing downtown to check out the bars on my upcoming trip. I have never really ate downtown(besides a deep fried Twinkie and 5am cheap breakfast). I am more of a pizza, barbecue, burger type guy. Think man vs food or diners drives ins and dives type of a joint.

    Any recomendations?

    Pop Up Pizza.

    Very back of Plaza Casino.

They sell pizza by the slice. $4.05/slice. Eat it right there. I love the Fremont style, but they always have a bunch set out & you can gawk at them.

Pop up is great, I hear Pizza Rock by the new Downtown Grand is great too. There is a really good Pizza place on Fremont East called Uncle Joes or something like that, NY style pizza, been there for years I guess.

Heart Attack Grill might be something you want to check out as well.

Triple 7 brew Pub has amazing food for a great price in Main Street Station as well!

My favorite Burger downtown is a Binions Burger in Binions Cafe though!

Pizza Rock is great! If you are by yourself hit the takeout window for by the slice. They only sell by the whole pie inside and they are huge! Too big for the two of us!

I think Eat is rapidly becoming a "must" check out kinda place and the kinda joint Guy Fieri would approve of..

I've eaten there twice now (once for breakfast and once for lunch) and enjoyed the heck out it both times. They close at 2 or 3 p.m., so get there early.

Definitely Pizza Rock for a slice and check out hogs and heifers for a beer.

If you put "Eating Ideas for Downtown Vegas" into the search box you'll find about 3rd or so post down a comprehensive report made by me of both inexpensive and more upscale downtown eating. Several other ideas including graveyard specials are also on that search list. On another search put "Attention Bacon Lovers" to find out about a bacon and coffee special I posted.... and don't forget the great $2.99 shrimp cocktail in a large tulip shaped glass can be ordered at any time of the day or night at DuPars...

All this is making me hungry and wish I was in Las Vegas...

American Coney Island was featured on a Man v. Food episode in Detroit, and their only non-Michigan restaurant is at the D. But if you only have time for one place, the Heart Attack Grill probably best fits what you're looking for: a burger-and-fries joint with something unique.

Try Benny's Bullpen in back of Binion's. Sports bar with nice food and big beer selection, including the microbrews from Chicago Brew Co. at 4Q. One of my favorite spots.

I second the burgers at Binions cafe. We stop there every time.

Pizza Rock >>> Pop Up Pizza, IMO. I thought Pop Up was tasteless but Pizza Rock was good.

Was completely disappointed in American Coney Island going there last year. I had a coupon for BOGO dogs and felt my wife and I probably needed 3 more each to be all set plus the place was completely trashed with garbage everywhere and no tables cleaned. Hot dog guy outside in East Freemont 100 times better and half the price.
