M love of 10 years and I are headed to Vegas for the first time, April 3rd-7th, for my birthday and also to get married. This is our first trip in 10 years without our sons, so we are stoked! We are somewhat on a budget.

The most difficult thing we are having trouble with, is where to stay. I have narrowed it down to MGM Grand, Flamingo and Treasure Island (not sure if I'm all over the place with budget, location, etc.) but these are the three, that gave me less of a headache when reading reviews...and I have read thousands (so it seems!) of probably every hotel on the Strip and beyond.

So...yeah...that's where we are at. My soon to be hubby, is leaving the planning up to me so he is not of much help.

    This is my criteria:

    Not A Dump
    Not Hoity Toity (really expensive)
Not far from the Strip (don't want to be spending tons of money on cabs & buses)

    His criteria:

    A place to Sleep
A place to do the "horizontal polka" :rolleyes2:

    Simple Huh?

Welcome to the board & congrats on the trip & wedding!!! Very exciting time for you two. :) MGM is huge and may be overwhelming for newbies. TI is not exactly center strip & may require more cabs unless you stick to that area. Flamingo is center strip but does have construction nearby. But, it seems there is construction almost in every location now. There is good & bad about every hotel / casino and great food options everywhere. (casual always works for us) You can google for free coupons that may interest you too. Bet you get a lot of great suggestions soon. Have a great time!!

Welcome to the board. We live in Bensalem around Parx. We go to Vegas every year. I would not recommend Flamingo, due to construction which was heavy in October. T.I. may fit your bill. It's a nice property and easy to navigate. We have stayed at all of the hotels on your list. MGM is nice but it is massive and check in can be a disaster at the wrong time of day. We stayed downtown for years at the Golden Nugget. We recently switched back to the strip as we have players cards at Caesar's/Harrah's properties in Atlantic City and they have been good for comps in Vegas. Our last trip we stayed at Paris, which was very nice. Just a question, if you have a Caesar's ?Harrah's card go on line and check your rate, you might be surprised. Congratulations on your wedding, and please enjoy your trip. Welcome to the promised land.

I am not sure what "not really expensive" means. But I agree that Flamingo is in the middle of construction. I am not a fan of TI (Too far to one end of the strip) and MGM is huge. I have stayed at Mirage, Bellagio and Planet Hollywood. Love them all - great location in the middle of everything. For five night, it might only be a total of an additional $100 or so.

Bellagio is clearly the top of this list - if you can afford it, go for it. And see if they will upgrade you to a fountain view room (you are there for your wedding after all). And I love the Bellagio pool

Planet Hollywood is across the street and has a great view as well and is a little cheaper. Not a fan of the pool though.

I am originally from the Valley Forge area...welcome!

I'd like to suggest The Mirage...check that one out. That was our first place we stayed on our virgin voyage. Love that place!

    Yo, Philly! Originally from Roxborough.

I would suggest The Mirage. Location, location, location. Right in the heart of it all. Good shows, restaurants, clubs both in the hotel and other easily walkable properties.

You are a little early for pool season, but The Mirage has a great pool.

Ask for a south view. Don't get suckered into a Strip view. South or pool view is the best.
