Best place for March Madness

Where is the best place to sit down and watch the games with betting windows nearby. Do any casinos have ballroom setups for this?

My friend and I got a balcony room at Cosmo and it was great. Only 4 min to get to the sports betting window and we rearranged the room. Had the couch facing the tv. No waiting for food as we had a fridge and microwave. Got wings and food from different pizza places and twin peaks. Best time ever. Don't have to pay 5bucks for a beer. Not for everyone but first weekend is super crowded and we saved a lot of money doing it that way and when there is a break in the games we hung out on the balcony. TV is 42 inch I think with all the NCAA
channels.

 

If you are going to sit in your room and do this, I would suggest staying home and saving money on airfare and hotel.

Four minute walk sounds nice, but the 90 minute wait to get to the window gets you. GET YOUR ACTION EARLY! Preferrable the day before at about 5/6 PM. Crazy wait times, especially at crummy books like PH. Paris is pretty good though.

 

LVH is always a blast when they open up their theater. $2 beers and hot dogs and a rowdy atmosphere. Plus, it is huge so there are quite a few seats usually available.

We've never had too much trouble getting our bets in. Longest line I've waited in has been around 20 minutes. Just make sure you know what you are betting before you get to the window or else you will have some pissed off people behind you.

A tip: The Venetian sportsbook is open 24 hours in case you feel like making your bets at some odd hour (we often take advantage of this.

 

If I'm going to be sitting the the book all day, what I've done is the day before, I sit, make a few Horse bets, get to know the people behind the counter.

After a bit, I ask for the supervisor, mention I'll be back tomorrow to play the horses, but doubt I'll be able to get a seat OR get a bet down because of the line.

Got a reserved seat and was able to make ALL wagers at the racing only window.

At the LVH you can place your bets for the first games then go straight to the back of the line. Watch the games in line and by the time you get to the front you might get the second games in at one of their 4 open sports windows. During TV timeouts you can watch the guy's working their 11 open horse windows doing nothing at all or maybe taking the occasional wager. IT'S AWESOME!!!

 

That is in the actual sportsbook. Go up to the theater and it is a much better experience (aka, no pony players).

 

Never been during mm

This is my first trip to march madness and was planning on bouncing around properties to catch games at bars and various restaurants. Is this a bad idea or too walk around? Is it similar to super bowl or new years?

 

This strategy works great on Saturday and Sunday. However many restaurants and bars will be packed 9am-9pm Thursday and Friday of opening weekend (March 20-21 this year). Expect to find lines of people anywhere the games are shown. On Thursday and Friday I suggest one of the viewing parties or getting yourself to a Sportsbook prior to the first game tip (approx 9:10am Vegas time). There are some paid party options still available, but many of the more popular ones are filling up fast. The MMILV group on Facebook is a great resource if you are trying to figure out where you want to spend Thursday and Friday.
If you plan to play table games, you'll find plenty of TVs throughout the casino floor at the MLife properties.
Finally, make your bets early! If you wait until Thursday and Friday just before tipoff, the queue in the book will be long and you may be shut out.
This is our 13th year to spend MM in Las Vegas. The atmosphere is electric, the adrenaline rush is amazing! Just one trip and you will be hooked

We will be in town for the 2nd weekend of March Madness (March 27-30), I am assuming things will be a bit calmer for that weekend? Will we have any problems placing bets 1-2 hours before the games start?

 

1-2 hours before the games is plenty even on the first weekend so you will be fine.

The biggest issue with betting is if you want to do things like halftime bets or you forgot a game and need to get a bet in quick. A 15-20 minute wait can be common at certain times. As the day goes on, the shorter the lines get.
