Being the resident LV junkie, I have been tasked with assisting in planning a girlfriends' bachelorette party. I typically don't spend a lot of time lounging by the pool in LV but, I think that, for this particular trip, a cabana day might suit everyone just fine.

Right now, it looks like there will be around six ladies and we will be there on a Thursday and Friday during the early part of May. I'm targeting mid strip for our stay but, haven't settled on a hotel yet since pool is a bigger consideration this time around.

    Here is the wish list:

    • Cabana at a nice, high energy pool but not a day club
    • Cabana where the fee goes toward minimum food and beverage purchase
    • Ideally, a mid strip property (Aria, Cosmopolitan, Caesars...)

Any pool/cabana gurus out there who can provide pointers? I'm also curious to hear what people were paying around the same time last year. Seems like cabana pricing is all over the place but, its nice to have at least a ballpark in mind so that I can level set expectations with the crew.

My first suggestion would be Mirage, and my second suggestion would be MGM. However, neither are technically "mid strip". A Thursday at the cabana will likely be a little cheaper than a Friday, as Friday gets lumped into the weekend rate. You are looking at anywhere from $250-$450 for a cabana at the regular pool.

Mirage pool is always a blast IMO. It's not quite as big as MGM, and I think it attracts a little classier crowd. The cabanas are nice, and the service is great.

Aria would be a good option too, but the rates will be significantly higher for rooms at Aria vs. Mirage or MGM. Aria pool is not as "high energy" as the Mirage or MGM (in my opinion), but the cabanas themselves will be very nice and the pool complex is nicely appointed.

I have never been to the regular pool at Cosmo, so I cannot comment on that. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

I agree with the post above that the mid-strip request, along with the other requirements, limits you a bit. Mandalay Bay, MGM, or Wynn is what I would recommend if you didn't mind leaving mid-strip. Of the properties you listed, Caesars will probably have the best party vibe without being part of an actual dayclub. If you change your mind on the dayclub part, go with Cosmo

Thanks for the input so far! I've stayed at Mirage quite a few times but never done the pool. Not my favorite Strip location but, for this trip, Mirage might be a food fit overall. I may have to explore the two bedroom hospitality suite availability. If that's an option, it just might seal the deal.

I actually stay a Cosmopolitan quite often. I've spent a little time at the Boulevard pool and I don't find it to be too over the top. Marquee is out though. Just not our scene for reasons to include age. ;-)

We've done Monte Carlo's cabanas and had a great time there.

Here's the email they sent to us for last year's gathering.

    Good Afternoon,

Thank you for contacting the Concierge.

I have attached the information and pricing for our 2013 pool season, which runs from March 7th until October 15th. The options are based on availability. We do not offer any half or part day rentals.

Our poolside reserved areas are guaranteed by agreeing to a food and beverage minimum based on the type of cabana or day bed you choose. We charge the first $200 of your food and beverage minimum onto a credit card at the time of booking as a way to guarantee and hold your reservation. Your deposit goes directly to the amount of food and beverage you receive. There are no additional rental fees required.

You will have up to 24 hours prior to the date of the reservation to cancel without penalty and receive a full refund. You will be required to pay the difference of the minimum above your $200 deposit plus tax and service fees and anything you order above that minimum.

Please contact us at your convenience to advise to which poolside accommodation would best suit your needs. You may contact us via phone at 702-730-7010 to provide:

    · A credit card to secure the booking (a $200 deposit is charged to secure the reservation)

    · Mobile contact number

    · Number of guests

The Concierge is available 7 days a week from 8:00am PST to 10:00pm PST and may assist with dinners, shows, tours, spa, golf tee times or any other special arrangements to enhance your stay.

    Flamingo!!!

And yes, it is nice to have the cabana booked before the trip, it is pretty nice to get there and at about noon see if there are any open ones, you can usually save a $100 or so.

Plus there aren't any kids running around, that's worth it in itself!

Thanks all for the great info! Looks like Flamingo, Mirage and Mandalay may be our best options for pool scene. It's only a couple of nights so, I can suck it up on the rooms. None are bad, just not my preference.

I was on a bachelor party ya few summers ago at Mirage, & thought it was excellent.

I've also done Hard Rock. The only downfall on that trip was one of my buddies had his Reef Sandals stolen.

From the three you have identified (MB, Mirage, and Flamingo), the Flamingo doesn't even come close to comparing to the other two in any category except location. I have stayed at all three hotels multiple times.

I don't want to trash the Flamingo, as I just recently stayed there myself, but if I was recommending a hotel for a girl's trip the Flamingo wouldn't even be on the same list as Mandalay or Mirage. Just my 2 cents. Have fun!
