I have a three night stay coming up in Vegas. This trip is strictly for business. I will be attending meetings all day and some at night. I will have very little time for gambling or recreation. I have the rooms booked at reasonable rates and will be reimbursed by my company. Yesterday I got an offer from the hotel for three free nights.
I would like to save the company some money, but not at a cost of hurting my future comps. So, my question is this, if I don't use the offer and pay for my room, will my limited gambling hurt me as much if I use the free nights offer?

If my limited gambling will hurt regardless of using the comp, I guess I'll use it. If not, I'll let the company pay the discounted rate I already have.

    Thoughts, opinions?

what kinda level player is the first question ,where you booked at

then if your a big player a few hundred and up a hand at tables and wont do that let company pay for your room, dont enter your players card # with your room so they wont know your actualy staying there,

and maybe use it at the tables if your playing warrants.

answer the question so we can continue to help

I'll give it a shot, at least with respect to machine play. If you put your player's card in the reader, and you play whatever amount, that amount is tracked. That amount will get figured into whatever average they use to generate mailers. If I'm going to play somewhere different from where I'm staying, it's usually going to be a small amount, and I never use my player's card. That is, if it's a place I care about staying at. For example, if I duck in to MSS to play Treasure Chest when I'm not staying there, it's generally for an hour or so, and I don't use my card - that way I don't screw up my mailers.

    Hope This Helps....

If you do not use your players card to check in, or play... well... they do not know you are there and will not impact your theo/adt.

If you use it, it will.

Yea, YOU know you are there, but they do not. It takes your players card number to link things together.

Getting rated on a low play trip will eventually have a negative effect.
If your play is really limited I would not get rated when playing.

I used to stop at Harrah's Chester outside of Philly and play dice or BJ for an hour or two when I was in the area on business.
I stopped doing it when I found out it counted as a separate trip with low theo.

That being said,I have had several business trip s to Las Vegas where I thought I would not have a lot of time to play.I always ended up playing way more than I thought I would.

This with the caveat that if you are a table player the pit boss doesn't recognize you, I've heard of people trying to fly under the radar only to have been rated without knowing it.

Thank you for the advice. I've never tried to fly under the radar, so to speak, but that sound like the perfect plan.
I did not use my card to book the room so they won't have any record of my stay linked to my card. I won't use the offer and just let the company pick up the tab. The room is half the cost of the convention hotel so they'll be happy no matter what.
For the short time I do gamble I just won't use my card at all.
I doubt very much that any pit critter would know me given my visits are usually limited to 3 a year. I like to play at $5 or $10 tables and fluctuate my bets from $10 -$25. Rarely over $25.
To be even safer i might just skip the BJ tables entirely this trip and just hit the poker tables. They use a different card so they aren't even on the same system.
    Thanks again for the suggestions.

I thought these offers were based on your expected play.
So if you use an offer but don't gamble that may affect future offers....at least that is the way I understood it.

not if you dont stay on an offer.
and at his level of play 5$ to maybe 25$ its no big deal.

it sounded like he played 2000$ a hand and was going to bearly play at like at 100 or 50$ then you dont bother but at his level it wont mater.

Offers are based on your ACTUAL and REAL past play. Usually over a number of visits to reach a reasonable average.

The offer then "expects" you will continue to do the same thing. That is why they make the offer. For example ; Jim put $3,000 at risk on his last 4 trips, on average. We can then assume and hope he will do the same thing next time. So, we will offer $xxx in comps.

After your stay, the computer does a new average. It might look at how you handled your last offer as well.

All of this assumes they even know you are there and can track your play.

My apologies if i somehow gave the impression that I was betting a $1,000 per hand. When i am am vegas for recreational reasons I play $10-25 per hand BJ for around 4 hours per day. I also run though some coin in VP and play table poker for the rest of the time. For that level I get regular free room offers from Boyd casinos, The Palms and South Point. All of them have good table rules for that level play.
I do not want to lose those offers so as suggested, i will not use the offer or use my card for my limited gambling during my business trip.
