Not retire to - or a Fantasy Island Retreat.....
and yes, money would have to be a consideration.

I've only travelled thru Europe - ( some Mexico )
    So, my answer is limited.
Northern half of Italy, and France - I could live.

None. I've lived overseas and as much as I ADORE travel and plan to do it as often and as long as I can, I want to come home to my place in the US. Culture shock, dealing with funds in another country, dealing with medical issues - I'll stick with what I know best, thanks.

I've lived in Singapore and it was a breeze, in almost all respects better than anywhere in America in terms of most quality of life factors. Same with Hong Kong though it can be a bit more of culture shock in certain areas. Anything you get here you also get there, the exception being local things of course. Like the stuff I missed most were good bagels and pizza, but I would have had that same problem if I moved to most places in the US too.

A large part of my professional network and even family is made up of expats throughout Asia and Europe, and some Mideast. People usually say they'll only move out there for a few years but after a while it becomes home.

Brazil no question I spent a year there while in the Corp and have loved the country and it's people ever since, most likely Curitiba or Manaus though not Rio or Sao Paulo. Next choice would be Scotland land of my family bloodlines.

If I ever decided to live abroad it would be Spain or Italy and possibly Germany.

My in-laws have sold their properties in costa rica and their experiences (plus coworkers, other family, and my own) lead me to an opposite conclusion :)

I could do it for 6 months maybe. But I'd want to try places all over the world....

I couldn't give up Canada, but I'd be happy to live on a cruise boat during the winter months going around the world.

I have spent a bit of time in South America with the majority of time being in Lima Peru and I could live there.

    Awesome country.

The caveat is that in order for me to do so I would need a job that would allow me to commute to and from the US so I could still have my home fix or I'd need to hit the lottery and have two residences.
