After taking a long hard look at things and being thrown for a loss by a relative that I should not have trusted, I don't think there will be a Las Vegas trip this year, or maybe never again.

I simply cannot fit it into this year's budget.

This retirement thing is just not working out the way I thought it would. But, I just couldn't stand up to the physical and mental stress of my position any longer.

I had more than my share of fun in LV. I don't regret a minute of it.

I wish you all Happy Trails.

Keep your head up. Hopefully 2014 is a great year for you and you'll return to Vegas in 2015

Sorry to hear I have always enjoyed your replys on the board, and hopefully things change for the better for you real soon and it is just a minor setback. Sucks for what family does sometimes to generous people.

On a separate note looks like I may be having my first kid this year so this years strip should be the last for some time as well!

Breeze, you've been putting it out there so of course you are going to get some armchair psychiatry.

You've had some somewhat dark, woeful posts at times, at least one of which I think you asked the mods to delete 'round the holidays. If you're finding solace here, that's great, but maybe you just need to step back, regroup, find the questions for the answers you are seeking.

Be well and I hope it all comes together for you. :peace:

I am getting closer to that sort of posting. Semi-retirement has cut down available money. Love all the time we have done in Vegas.... but beween our money and the cost of Vegas, visits may go away soon. (though I have been saying that for two years now)

You know you can low roll in Vegas....I think someone posted one time that they spent over a week in Vegas on less than $500. Regardless, I hope things work out for you...remember look out for yourself because no one else will.

Since I retired, I really don't gamble as much. It's been that way for 10 years now. I still travel, and Las Vegas is still possible, but I would go there for totally different reasons than I did before. I am more prone to go elsewhere at this time.

I really feel for you Breeze, because I'm very close to being in the same boat. Different circumstances, but same bottom line. The thing that hurts the most is that Vegas is one of the few pleasures I still have in life since retirement, next to visiting my son and his family in Tampa.

And I simply can't picture myself in front of a VP machine, playing pennies or nickels, just to say I'm in Vegas.

I do hope something works out for you down the road.

Hey Breeze, really enjoyed your posts and replies here. Many of them quite colorful sometimes and make me chuckle. Take a break from Vegas. It will always be there when you return.

Hope things get better and you soon find your way back to Paradise, NV. I mean Las Vegas!!!!!

Most people have been burned by relatives one way or another. I wouldn't feel alone in that department.

I don't even speak to my family anymore.

As for not going to to LV this year that is rough. We all have regrets and wish we had more in life.

I would not feel alone in those departments either.

Life has a funny way of turning on a dime. Keep battling.

    Thanks for the support.

I can still share my experiences, I guess.

You never know in life, never give up, things somehow work out.

    Thanks, again.

A post-retirement slump is not unusual. When you're feeling down, look on the bright side: you don't have to go to that stinkin' job anymore! Woo hoo! As for Vegas, it will always be there waiting for you. Maybe you'll find a new, cheaper way of enjoying it. Maybe you'll save for a long time and have big, fun trips just less often. Maybe you'll live vicariously through people here (like I do with the high rollers here). This may be a great opportunity to find joy in unexpected places. Hang in there!

    I feel for ya.
I often wonder what is the magic number for retirement to allow one to have fun and not feel restricted. Unfortunately no one is able to provide that number.

Just remember if you don't go to Vegas there is no chance of recouping the money lost to your relative. :wink2:
