    My Trip Report

My husband and I dragged some of our older kids up to the Reno Peppermill this last weekend. We left the 4 year old with my sister in Sacramento. This was our first trip with a host and our rooms were pre-comped for the first time. That was really nice! We stayed in the Tuscany Tower Villa Suite with an adjoining king double. The rooms are way nicer than I expected, and more than we would normally pay for. I have to say that having a host is awesome.

Friday night we were playing jacks or better after a bad weekend with double double during our last visit. We managed to crawl up 500 the first few hours, and since it was 7x comp days we planned to play a significant amount. About 9:00 my hubby hits a Royal playing 1$ JOB for 4000 dollars. This is our first Royal ever and we were very excited!

Spent most of the day Saturday loosing, then lost more on craps Sunday. Ended up 2000--

I have to say....That was fun! Our first winning trip in years.

The 21 YO hit the casino a bit and loved the nightclub. She had a great time.

The other kids were mostly OK, they were 16, 16 and 13. I have never brought teens to a casino before and they did had some fun but I won't want to do it again. Not unless I have a really good reason.

The food was all fine--nothing fabulous, but the staff and service was excellent as usual. The kids loved the desserts from in-room service and I have to say it made the MGM pathetic cheesecake look even worse!

I did get carded at the VIP lounge --that was embarrassing because I did not have my Id as my husband had just left to go upstairs. My host was there, and she vouched for me....but I felt kinda silly. I just turned 44.

We paid our tips this time--the last few times the tips were comped, but then we were loosing pretty badly. We go back to Reno in late February--can't wait!:licklips:

Good for you!!!! I live in the north and hadn't been in the Peppermill for several years until a couple weeks ago... what a beautiful job they've done with the property... it looked GREAT!

Just curious, how many points do you accumulate in a weekend? Just for a reference point in how you get treated at the Peppermill because there's very little info I can find on their players club.

We play about 30,000 to 40,000 per day. Our play is VP and craps. They have been great to us and we really like the casino and the hotel. If you have any other questions feel free!

Our points vary from 1300 to 2500.per weekend. We would need 3-4 weekends per year to get to platinum, but they gave us platinum right away. You need 7500 to get to platinum...no way we could get to diamond or their noir equivalent --chairman.

We have linked accounts and mostly play JOB or DDB. Between the two of us we easily play 1000 hands/hour. At $5/hand that's at least $5K/hour. We will play 6-9 hours each day. We do play some craps, but it's a blip on our points as we mostly do $5 pass play with a x3/4/5 Odds bet.

Congrats on the royal. But the real win was this...

I once got asked for id while buying cigarettes and I was in my late forties. I've never forgotten the thrill of being asked for id. It's the best win ever!! (The poor clerk was so embarrassed.)

Does the Peppermill still have all the neon purple and pink or have they renovated? Those colours were hard to take.

I guess I should be thrilled by it, but I was actually really embarassed. And again when we checked out, because the lady there was like "Oh, your the lady we carded!" in a really loud voice. I blushed again big time.

There is one area by the sports betting section that is still pretty garish. The rest of the hotel is more muted and like a normal casino.

We thought about checking out Peppermill a few years back, but the pictures online were so loud, we decided it was not our thing. Turns out it's just fine for us!

Timspeed----our average is about 30,000-40,0000 combined. I think the most we ever did was about 50,000. (We were winning) We usually don't get anywhere close to 60,0000. Wish we could though!

I may not have been clear, I meant that our combined speed is easily 1000 hands / hour. My casual and comfortable speed is ~ 600, hers is ~ 400. I will sometimes get in a groove (or get frustrated) and kick up to about 750-800, but my errors increase and I'll force myself to slow down (if I'm sober) or she thumps me and says "SLOW DOWN" (if I'm not sober).

On this last trip we played something like 5 hours Friday, 9 Hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday. Total Coin-In was ~ $100,000 for 2475 Tier Points. So on Saturday we did a bit over $50K. That was the most we've ever played. Might have played a bit less if I hadn't hit that Royal.

Speeding up is an issue if you can't hit anything because the machine doesn't count up any wins. So if I'm playing fast that usually means a bad thing. :grrr:

Thanks for the replies, I totally forgot I asked this. I love the Peppermill too but I guess I'm not close to that level, gold about 1k points over a weekend playing mostly $1-5 slots. I wish I could sit that long at VP but after an hour or two I lose that focus and make more mistakes. I definitely appreciate the info though.

We wil be in Reno in March for our first trip in about 3 years. We moved and flights out of here are about twice what Vegas is....so 5 times to Vegas last year.

We really like Reno but I don't think we tried the Peppermill. Since we are renting a car, we will be sure to stop in and try it this time. Another item on our list are the Awful Awful Burgers.

For those avid Reno members, best sports book to bet and watch games? Any other suggestions for the Reno area? Thanks

Best sportsbook is grandsierra...however nugget is redoing the whole place, so you might wanna stop in to see if it's done by then...
If you have a car, definitely spend a day driving around lake Tahoe (drive around the entire lake)
    Also, check out Virginia city.
Try the awful awful down at the Carson Nugget (better than the burgers at both the Reno nuggets)

    Thanks TIMSPEED,
We like the awful awful burger at The Nugget downtown better than at Jerry Ascuaga's Nugget. If it is better than that one then we will make it a point to find.

We actually were married on a cliff overlooking Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe years ago and would love to drive over for the day if weather cooperates. Not much ice and snow here so out of practice.

We will check on both sports books but since we are staying downtown, a location in the area would be best.

    Thanks again
