Somehow this flew under the radar, but financial numbers may not have been as strong as management would have liked. Vegaschatter remarked on some changes at DT grand in Jan 2 article. Looks like we maybe hearing more about some changes at DTG in coming months.

Below is the hyperlink to VC article and quote on VV site.

Vital Vegas reference to management shake up and I quote the article: "We hear there’s been a recent shake-up with Downtown Grand’s executive team, so hopefully this and other fumbles will be recovered soon. -

I thought it was great to get a "new" downtown property but the reports weren't good right from the start. Hopefully they'll figure it out and make it a success. A successful DTG means maybe at some point someone will take a shot at redoing/reopening the Pioneer. And getting Binions back up and successful.

We're taking them up on the matching hotel offer next month, but unless they made changes to the VP paytables since Dec, we won't be gambling there.

I hope they wise up, making tweeks to the restraunts isn't gonna solve the real problem, if they dont at least compete with the other places gambling wise they have little chance IMO.

I know that quite a few hosts have left. Evelyn (Eve) and Nina both have left in the last two or three weeks. I have a comped room in April that Eve set up before she left thankfully, but I am going with the assumption that I will be staying and not playing unless the vp tables improve.

I am going to call next week since I have two Feb trips planned.
SB weekend and then EOM. I am going to see if they will match my The D offer of free nights. The rooms look nice, and I like the art bar and area.

Hey Funk, I didn't see anything about a management shake-up - other than with the Commissary.

Is that written up somewhere else?

I am hoping and praying that they will re-instate good VP paytables there - they seem to be throwing all kinds of stuff out to try to build business such as locals discounts, promotions, comps, matching offers etc.

But if the fundamentals aren't competitive it won't work.

    Wake up, DTG!!!

    DT Grand Matching Offer Details

We're going to Vegas Feb. 4-8 and want to give the Downtown Grand a try, so I was excited to see their offer to match other properties' targeted offers. We've got one for two free nights, plus set dollar reduced rates for other nights. I called the Downtown Grand today to see how their matching offer works. Details:
    - Only up to two nights
    - The resort fee of $11 per night is not comped (the bast*rds!)
    - Any other nights would be at their going rate (the match is only for a max of two nights)
    - You need to make a reservation in advance with them (in other words, probably won't work if you've booked through a third-party site)
    - The reservation and offer you present to be matched must be in the same person's name, and the offer must be valid for the period you are staying.
    - You have to be a member of the points club, which you can do when you arrive

I couldn't find anything about this offer anywhere but this site, so thanks for posting it. The woman I talked with seemed rather surprised when I asked about it, but she was aware of it. I may still not take them up on it, since it's significantly more expensive than the other property's offer, but if we do decide to stay at the DTG it saves about $75 off the best rate I can find for the four days elsewhere.

They want the local market??? locals are even more critical than us! You have to offer solid VP tables and free parking! As of right now, as reported by Vitalvegas.com, in order to self park you must validate and its only good for two hours.

I love that Downtown has a new property and I am going to check it out and include it in my Blackjack crawl, but damn have they made some bad decisions.

I think they need a management change up!

Flusher, just what I saw on Vital Vegas. I do remember reading a blurb about changes at Fifth Street Gaming in the way of promotions, trying to track down that article. It did not call out DTG specifically. DTG is owned by a real estate holding investment company called CIM group and fifth street operates the hotel and the gaming license. This is a similar arrangement like Cosmo LV where Deutsche Bank is owner, but another company organized within DB operates the resort and handles the gaming license.

I am sure with the money poured into this place any changes will move fast. DT being slightly removed from Fremont street they have little room for error and have to drive traffic to their site.

Well said. I was there in November and it's a nice place. They had some decent BJ shoe games. Hopefully they'll come to the realization that being downtown they need to be more competitive in VP. Hope they make the RIGHT changes. :peace:

Does anyone know if they'll match gaming offers from competing downtown casinos? Walked through the Grand last month, signed up for their card and used the free money, but nothing really enticed me to sit down at a BJ table.

I am staying at the DTG for the 1st time Superbowl weekend, and I am getting a bit nervous. When I was trying to figure out where I wanted to stay (I used to stay at the Gold Spike), I contacted several downtown casinos to see what they would offer me. Being able to attend a Big Game party was a big part of it. After talking back and forth with several places, the DTG gave me the best offer, and they assured me they were having a Superbowl party.

Over the past several weeks, every time I have asked for details about the party, they've just said 'details will be released shortly'. It is now 13 days before the game, and I still haven't heard anything. I really wanted my game day plans to be set before I got there, and I'd hate to be stuck scrambling, looking for a place to watch the game if the DTG ends up not having a party, or their party isn't worth attending.

I guess I can only hope for the best, but this isn't a good sign.

I visited DT Grand when I was in Vegas over the holidays. I was not impressed at all. I did play slots a little and managed to sign up and get $10 in free play and ended up winning a DT Grand hat but other than that the place was dead. Looked for some dining options and found next to nothing that peaked our interest. Not sure I will be back.

Let me know if you find out anything about a Super Bowl party at the DTG. I'm interested in seeing what they are having.

Just got another message from them that they are still gathering details and will let me know asap.

So in other words...no change. For them to still be working out the kinks this close to game day is pretty worrying.

    Picnic?

When I was there in November a Host (Evelyn I believe) told me they were going to have an outdoor Superbowl party using the "Picnic" pool venue under a tent. That was the last I heard of that.
