Longtime lurker, just started posting. Have a trip planned March 13th-19th, flying Delta out of CLT and staying at Harrahs for their Milionnaire Maker blackjack tournament.

My trip is still around 50 some odd days off and I catch myself some days thinking dont even start getting excited, its too far away. Then some days I am on the internet reading trip reports, making plans, watching Vegas shows etc. I am back and forth the whole time

Half fo the fun is the anticipation but it is such a roller coaster ride when you're counting down from so long away from your trip.

anyone else go throught this or am I the only one? How do you cope with a long countdown!

    You are definitely not alone.

Let me put it this way. My wife and I are moving across the country to the PNW, as part of the move in March we decided (in October) that we were going to stay 3 nights in Vegas. Mind you, since we are making such a huge move we have practically NO money to spend in Vegas outside of food, and a show (thanks to MyVegas) and a tiny bit of extra spending cash. And yet I have been so excited for this trip for the past couple of months.

There is something about Las Vegas. As Lonnie Mayne used to say "There's excitement in the air"
(Extra points if you know who Lonnie Mayne is  )

    Have a good trip! :peace:

Yes, you have a sickness called Vegasitis. Most of us on this board have it.

I've been counting down since, well before, Thanksgiving --- once reservations were made the countdown began.

Before the countdown came the planning (almost as soon as we landed from the last trip)

Usually its not this bad .......... but last trip the sportsbook was especially kind

I'm the same way. The worst part is once you get there the time goes by so fast. Seems like you look forward to going forever and then it's over in a heartbeat and then you're stuck with a Vegas Hangover for weeks. I just got back and don't have another trip planned until January. I'll probably take a summer trip but even that seems too far away.

I just got work and spousal approval for a trip in May, which includes a convention @ Venetian.

Words cannot express my joy in booking the hotel rooms today.

Although just over 2 months away, I have been counting down and doing what you are talking about since I started the latest count down, around the end of sept or start of oct.

    planning

On our flight home we are always like, ok, what didn't we get to do this trip and mentally start planning the return visit, because there is ALWAYS a return visit!

I'm about 90 days out. While I don't get as excited as I once did, just thinking of getting out west and away from this cold is enough for me to wish I were there now.

Ya I don't get anywhere near as excited as I once did. My last trip I wasn't even excited at all till the plane landed on the ground. After that it all sets in and you feel the rush of excitement.

Mine isn't till the end of May and I feel the same way.

Tbh, all vacays planned in advance are like that. If I had a cruise in April, I'd feel like that.

I have been on a hiatus for the last two years so I am more fired up because of that.

However, I am already booking a March Madness trip and will go out in July/August to enter the LVH SuperContest.

So no Vegas for two years and now two trips in two months.

    Yeah baby!

Vegas messes up the space/time continuum

Hey suthrnoutlw (cool handle, by the way) you are far from alone. I’ve always said that the longest time interval known to man is the period from when you book your Vegas trip until you actually go, then of course the shortest is while you’re there. I’m planning a trip in late March - I know it’s best to not think about it and focus on today, but it’s so hard, especially with this board! I keep thinking that I have to maximize my time there, and the only way I can do that is to know EVERYTHING that’s going on, what’s new, what people like and don’t like, then I can make really informed choices. If I don’t keep up I’m gonna miss something fantastic and then regret it. I know this is totally illogical, and there will be many future trips to do these things, but controlling how the brain works is still a mystery to me. I’ve traveled all over the place but nowhere other than Vegas has this effect on me – guess that’s part of the allure.

Cheers, and good luck waiting for those 50 days to pass by!

I get 'that feeling' the minute I book any part of my trip, whether it's the flight or the room, doesn't matter I am counting down with anticipation.

My wife starts the countdown with more than 100 days to go as we book far in advanced. The number of days and "working" days.
Each and every day she updates the numbers. I guess she isn't healthy either.
