    board newbie here.
my guess is boxing is not so popular in this forum, but i give it a try.
boxing = entertainment so i hope this is the right subforum.

on my bucket list is a visit to boxing event in vegas.
i prefer a pacquiao or mayweather fight.

so here are my questions to the boxing fans:

    - any word on a possible pacquiao fight at the mgm on april 12th?
    - when do the promoters normally setup a fight?
    - when do tickets normally go on sale?
    - i know that with NBA/NFL tickets season ticket holders or newsletter members get kind of presale; does this also exists for boxing?

    thanks

The weekend around May 5th, the weekend around the 16th of Sept are two key dates when it comes to Boxing in Vegas. Big fights like you mentioned. MGM Grand usually hosts those fights but there are exceptions. Keep your eyes and ears open and monitor a good Boxing website and sign up for free email updates.

any suggestions for the bowing website?
    i visit boxingnews24.com regularly.

the date april 12th i have from this SOURCE:
"Still less than two months removed from the win over Rios, Pacquiao's camp does not need to rush to a decision yet. He is locked into a date at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on April 12 regardless of opponent."

I haven't really followed boxing since the Leonard/Hagler/Hearns/Duran days but I also think it would be cool to attend a big match in Vegas.

I am a big boxing fan and most of my trips to Vegas centers around a fight, that being said Golden Boy has the biggest and best stable of fighters so go to there website and get on there email list for early notifications but I have noticed in the past pre-sales are usually 1 day in advance.

PS if you are on twitter follow Dan Rafael for instant boxing news

    guys, thanks for the links.

i had 3 comped nights left, so i booked sun4/13-wed4/16 and will book 2 additional nights fri-sun when they set the pacquiao fight up.

only problem is that i dont want to spend multiple facevalue at stubhub for the tickets.

would be nice to get some reviews from some guys here that went to boxing events in vegas recently.

Hard to beat the fun of a good fight night in Vegas. Well worth the effort. Pacquiao is locked in for April 12, but now they're floating Gamboa as a possible opponent.

It's best to book the hotels before the official announcement of a big fight because once it is announced the hotel prices skyrocket. I am already looking at prices for Mayweather weekend.

I have been to a Mayweather fight at MGM. It was a BLAST. The entire place was just buzzing after the fight for hours.

My tickets were comps. You will have a hard time getting any decent tickets on your own, and they will likely be $1,000 or more. Face on my tickets was $1,000, and they were not even great seats.

"Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said that Robert Guerrero and Yuriorkis Gamboa are not being looked at as potential opponents for Manny Pacquiao’s next fight on April 12th, according to the Manila Standard.

I have no illusions of ever getting tix to a "big name fight" in Vegas, because of price. My guess is those $200, $400, $600 seats would make the fighters look like ants from the seat location.

If you're willing to lower your sights, keep an eye out for "up and comer" fights at secondary casinos. Years back I was able to get 4 ringside seats at the Orleans for around $240 total. Naturally no names on the card, but great entertainment never the less. It was an 8 bout card and even had a women's match. Fantastic entertainment for the price. Haven't been out there when another casino has held a similar card, since. Bummer, but good luck in your quest.

I went to Pacman vs. Marquez II at Mandalay about 6 years ago. It was a tremendous fight, and one of my best Vegas memories.

I read online a week ago that Pacman vs. Mayweather may finally happen this fall?? It sucks that the fight may happen two years after the public wanted it, but I would still be interested in seeing them fight.

Sshhhh! Don't advertise the pre-sale because that defeats the purpose of a pre-sale. :$

I've gone to a few cards at the Orleans. Worth checking out if you're a true fan of the sport.

The arena's in Vegas are smaller then you'd think. The MGM holds less then 17,000 for example, that's at least a few thousand less then your usual hockey venue. Madison Square garden holds nearly 20,000 for basketball and more for fights when the floor is open.

The only fight i've seen in Vegas was at the Mandalay Bay events center. It's capacity is around 12,000. I was amazed by how small it was.
