Thanks to Delta screwing up flights, I might be in Las Vegas a day earlier than my planned 3/9-12 vacation. I called the Mirage, where I'm staying and they want $195 for that Saturday, 3/8. I'm thinking about using Marriott Points for that Saturday. Any recommendations? According to the map, there are some properties by the Convention Center. Thanks in advance for the tips!

Also, is the Cosmo worth the 40,000 points for a room?

Are you Gold with Marriott? If so they will upgrade you to a terrace 1 bedroom based on a room being available but so far I am 2-2. Amazing room!!

There is a Spring Hill Suites that's across the street from the LVH, I've never stayed there, but I like this Marriott brand. As for the point value of the Cosmo, if its $195 or 40,000 points, it depends on how you value your points. In this case, your points are worth $0.05 each.

Thanks, guys! I'm Marriott Platinum...I have a bunch of points, and the Cosmo website lists the room for $300. I've stayed at the Vdara a few times so I like the Cosmo casino, just not familiar with the hotel.

As for the Marriotts, they all differ from place to place. If it were a weekday, then I'd stay there and take advantage of the Concierge Lounge. Not the same on a weekend. I'm going to call there as well and ask some questions.

    I appreciate the help!

You should get a room upgrade at Cosmo with your platinum status, and a free buffet. Not sure if spending the gazillion required points is worth it though. Getting the least expensive room and the upgrade was pretty nice.

Another choice would be the LV Renaissance. It's very near the convention center monorail stop.

The jw Marriott in summerlin is nice, but probably best experienced with a car. It's near suncoast and Red Rock casino-wise.

Spend your Marriott points at a better hotel. Even though I like Cosmo, I would never use points there or at any other property.

Have you taken a look at Virtuoso or AMEX FHR hotels (if you have an AMEX Plat or Centurion card)? Even though you pay $200+ a night, you get at least $100 back in benefits (F&B credit, breakfast, early check-in/late check-out, etc.). This is what I always do when I go to Vegas, especially if I need a guaranteed late check-out.

Assume you want to stay near the Strip or near other casinos. If not, I have always thought the JW Marriott is the best Marriott value play. Granted, I don't have a ton of points and am a sliver, not platinum.

Thanks everyone! I need to now consult with my travel partner (taking my Mom for her --th Birthday) and see what choice out of pretty great options she wants...I really appreciate the advice and will report back on how it went.

JW Marriott is really nice I stayed in a queen room last March while in Vegas for wedding, Rampart casino attached as well.

The one on East Harmon is the Grand Chateau, I have stayed there several times. I have stayed in the 1, 2, and 3 bedroom suites, the extra space of the suites was nice compared to JW but the JW queen room was by no means small, even had a balcony. The Grand Chateau is a great location (no casino on site but right next to PH) but I would say the JW is a much nicer hotel...its more of a resort than a hotel.

I own at Grand Chateau on East Harmon. I love the place because of its location and how quiet it is.
