Well crap, I have to stop playing dollar VP. Not because I can't afford it, but because the W2Gs are pushing us over the AGI limit for affordable insurance. Just going to have to play quarters and avoid any $1,199+ progressives.:grrr:

We buy our own insurance and the $10k in W2Gs last year that is included in gross income pushes us over the income limit for any subsidy.

Yes, you can deduct losses against winnings, but that doesn't factor in until you get to deductions, which comes after AGI.

I'm not whining, it's a nice problem but it is going to affect my gambling experience.

There goes Emerald & the Gold Card after 10/31.

If you play 5 play $.25 is each hand considered a different game or is all 5 hands considered one game? Probably one game. Play that, just don't get dealt a RF.

In Multi play, it is considered one hand.

Sometimes my mind works amazingly fast. As soon as I read the title of this thread, and BEFORE I noticed who started it, I immediately thought "poor dumb bastard!" Then, of course, I saw it was from Joe. Now that I've read the post and replies, I can only say, "poor dumb bastard!" ... Just kidding Joe. :)

But what he is trying to say is: You only get a W2-G when you get a dealt a royal or (or dealt AWAK on DDB) at five play quarters. This will only happen on average: 1/649,740 + 1/216,580 = 1 in 162,435 rounds on average in DDB, or 1 in 649,740 rounds at JoB/Bonus. Your exposure to a W2-G is much less, and you would have a similar amount of coin-in.

However, two big drawbacks. Good luck finding this at the bar. Multiline games with good paytables are more sporadic downtown, at least when I look at VPFree2.

At the rate you've been getting royals, you should be able to play at 50 cent and avoid any W2's!

Not true. For example, a dealt four to royal on multi play. If you fill the royal on two hands, that would trigger a W2G.

    Joe,
Why not just play 25 5-play or $ JoB or BP?
For you to fill in TWO royals on a 4-card, on a 5-play machine, it wouldn't be THAT often.

You could also refuse the W2-G and have them keep that whatever % they keep be default. I'm sure there's some math that has to be done to see if it's actually worth it or not.

Main reason---no multi play at any bartops at downtown Boyd.

I'm not familiar with this technique, but it seems to me it would still be reported, just that taxes were withheld.

Yeah, I was doing math pretty quickly and sorta ignored that possibility, which i shouldn't have. That scenario of more than one Royal when dealt 4 to a Royal is 0.000361683 x 0.0043373 = 0.00000156874861 = 1 in 637,451 (a little more likely than a dealt royal).

    So then JoB/Bonus would be: 1/649,740 + 1/637,451 = 1 in 321,768

And DDB would be closer to...:

    1/649,740 + 1/637,451 + 1/216,580 = 1 in 129,449

It's still less exposure than single line, but not nearly as much as I first suggested. And this is still an estimate. There is still a minor miracle of drawing 3 AWAK, or 3 Royals, etc.

Joe, that will surely place you in another level at Boyd. I hope you still can get the Silver Card. As for me, they really put the screws when I lowered my level of play in year 2012 because of illness when in Vegas. The food offers were there for my wife until the end of 2013. We went from Silver, to the food coupon book to zilch. Oh well....we still like Boyd.

Joe obviously you need to concede to the multi play option AND give up drinking... I'm not sure what Jose and Kelli would do without the tip income though?
