You'd think after so many trips to Vegas I would know this stuff but I am always learning.

I read in trip reports that people get a comp form the players club for the buffet or cafe. I always assumed that these comps were just coming off your points. But now I am confused. I have never asked for a comp from the pit boss or from the slot club, I just pay with points. Am I missing out on comps?

Whenever I would talk to a host at MSS she would ask if I wanted dinner tonight?, and I always said no, because I assumed the amount would just be deducted from my point total.

If I play at the D most of the day, have $7-10K coin in on VP, and ask for a comp to the Cafe will they just deduct it from my points?

Not sure if this helps but I was at Mirage in December and am a newbie at comps.

I went to the MLife desk twice about halfway through my week stay and they gave me food comps to BLT Burger and the Deli. Probably about $100 worth. I'm not sure if that eventually was factored into the amount that they comped at the end of my trip or not. They did state twice that they'd rather me charge everything to the room instead of ask for comps upfront so I assume they usually don't like to give them out?

hope this helps at least a little.

if your a slot player most of your comps come from your players card if your a table player its a differnt thing.

theres a alot of factors , how much you lost, time verse bet, do you have a host.bla bla bla.

That level of play might get some food comps from a host. MAYBE. Keep in mind they are usually not big on VP play.

I can't speak to The D's policy, but Boyd Pit Staff have the discretion to comp restaurants based on your play. I played BJ for some time and received a comp for The Redwood @ The Cal. I've also had significant coin in and when I asked the slot host (or the Pit), they have offered meals. Never hurts to ask and Boyd is generous in this respect. Boyd downtown does not deduct your earned points for these comps - it's not the same as "comp yourself" programs such as MILFe or CET.

If I played at a decent level (VP or BJ) for a decent amount of time, I'll usually get a reasonable request.

When given by a host at MSS, it is normally a discretionary type comp and it would not be deducted from your point total. If you were going to use your points, it would not be necessary to use a host. The dining room cashier will give you a 40 percent discount and deduct it from your point total.

We've never charged anything to the room and honestly I'm not sure how that makes a difference. We've always just asked if we can get lunch or dinner and it's been given to us. We usually spend several hours at the roulette or craps tables and bet $5-$20 per spin/roll.

We haven't done it in the last two years but we used to spend our last day at MGM and would visit the Mlife desk and get a comp put on our card for the Studio Cafe. Most of the time they would put a 80 dollar credit on my card which was way more than any comps I had earned.

At MSS, if a host offers, or you ask for a comp from a host, your points stay intact. That comp is based on your play.

I'm REALLY glad you asked this question! I've accumulated 750,000 points on my BackStage Pass card at the Hard Rock... I keep piling them up and hope to do something special with them when my wife comes down. I charge everything (food, etc.) to the room, as the HRH gives you 10X points for all hotel purchases. At checkout, the girl always asks if I'd like my play reviewed to see if any of my charges could be comped... I always say, "no thanks", cause A) I thought they just take them from my points and B) then I wouldn't get the additional points from the purchase, which in my case is mostly reimbursable.

We were at the Beau Rivage Biloxi late 2013 (Mlife). For slot and VP players they directed you to a kiosks where you see what you have (Points) and print out a voucher. Is this the "comp yourself" program mentioned above?

For table play, we'll never know, for we never played high enough to get rated. Think it was either $30 or $50 on Pai Gow or 3 Card Poker tables.

So at a CET (or Mlife) property, do they direct you towards a Kiosks for non table play, or can you get a comp from the players club?

I believe I earned tier credits for my blackjack play at MILFe casinos, but I was mainly speaking of tier credits and comps earned from Video Poker. For table play, pit critters have much less authority than they did in the past to issue discretionary comps. Boyd can for decent play, but CET and MILFe properties do not issue them frequently, based on what players have posted here.

CET offers points which you can use for comps or freeplay (50 cents on the dollar - more for higher status players). You get points for table or poker play, but the rate depends on the amount wagered, time played and house edge for the particular game. Expect $1 or $2 an hour on poker and perhaps a bit more on table games.

MILFe offers freeplay for points, and in addition you also get a comp balance which they will usually reduce when you redeem a comp or offer. If you log into your MILFe account online, you'll see a balance for comp dollars (Express Comps), one for point and a second for free play, which you can use at the machines. You'll get express comp dollars for table games, but not free play (unless part of a comp offer from corporate or the individual casino).

Boyd offers freeplay for points as well, but gives a 40% discount when you use points for dining. If you play in a pit for a few hours with green chip or better, they'll take care of you. Red chip action for a longer period should get you at least buffets.

All three (and Stations) also offer room offers and add food, promo chips/tournaments and other incentives based on your play.

I booked three 2014 comp stays at CET properties based on the calendar, but I will play mostly at Boyd, will try some 9/6 machines in MILFe casinos, and will also play Boyd and possibly a few independents or maybe Stations in 2014.

CET PH pit told me last year that they are only using points off your total rewards card for food comps for table players. It was just a conversation, I was not asking for anything. He said they used to be able to give comps to players from the pit but now they charge your points. O

once again for tables host can give out descretionary comps that dont effect your tr or ex comps you have at cet or mlife.

at cet they want you to use your rr first where mlife there generous and they will let you keep them

Last time I was at The D I had a host walk in to the high limit lounge and offer me a $50 food comp. I had been there 3-4 hours, but it was a nice gesture.

I play at MSS and the D all the time. They both give out discretionary comps. These comps do NOT comp off your points.

MSS is very easy to get them. I only ever use points for Free Play, never for food. Food is always covered by the hosts.

I've never asked a pit boss for a comp but I usually stay at MGM properties so I charge stuff to the room. Go to the mlife desk before you check out and they might knock a few things off. Last time I had an additional night plus some food comped on the back end. This was at NyNy and I had a regular room.
