A Question for the CET vets. During a recent trip, I picked up my TR card and played two poker tournaments and maybe gave them about $200 worth of slot play.

The fine folks at CET seem to be so impressed by my level of play:evillaugh, that I have recieved a two night mid-week comp for these three properties (ruling out the Quad and Rio for this trip)

A bit of background, have never stayed at any of these 3, early 40's male, this could be a solo trip or 3 guys (2 others same age range, still have not firmly committed, but I'm going regardless). Looking for a relaxed yet fun atmosphere (minus the constantly drunk 20 something WOOOO HOOOO crowd), a decent clean room. Pools and/or fine dining are not a consideration for this trip. As a comparison, recent stay was 3 nights at The Fremont, and the room was adequate for my needs.

I am leaning towards Bally's as first choice, followed by Harrah's then Flamingo (Linq/BillsVoortWell construction as potential concerns).

What are the thoughts of the CET experts?

    Thanks

    Hi,
I stayed at Harrah's this last Oct. (solo trip), female age 56, and the room was fine. Very comfy bed, nice bathroom, and nice amenities such as shampoo, cond. etc. Hallways were quiet and I felt totally safe. Room was spacious. I did ask for a room away from Carnival court though, because I had heard it can be quite noisy late at night. And my request was granted. Pool is nice, smaller than a lot of Vegas pools, but that was okay by me.

My husband and I also have stayed at Bally's and we really like Bally's. And their pool, in our opinion is really nice, but not the party pool that a lot of the Vegas casino's/hotels boast about. The rooms at Bally's are some of the largest in Vegas and they have always been really nice. Friends of ours, always stay at Bally's as well.

I like the Flamingo, but have never stayed there. Their pools are really nice, but they are much more party pools, and I just don't prefer that. Okay, semi old age setting in. LOL

I do have a trip report on here, under trip reports. Think I titled it something like Geezers solo trip report. LOL Might want to read it if you get the chance.

    Anyway, hope this helps.

    Kindly,
    K-9treatbaker

    I have stayed at Harrah's and Bally's.

I was worried about them both based on the reviews on many sites but you have to factor in that people bitch and moan about the most inconsequential things sometimes.

Bally's south tower (now remodeled as Jubilee Tower) were very plain and spacious. They showed their age but for a solo trip they did their job.

The North Tower was newer and presented great value. They have a food court for cheap dining options and the closeness to Paris is a selling point too.

Harrah's was about the same room-wise. Think basic Hampton Inn/Holiday Inn type room. Make sure you get the tower away from the Carnaval Court though because that is noisy. Both times I stayed there I asked for the tower away from there and they hooked me up.

Both are decent options and I would stay at both again.

Bally's would be my choice. Have stayed there many times in the past including a couple of months ago as well as next May.
Bally's has bigger rooms, a nice Sports Book with a food court, and the location is great because you are in the middle of Planet Hollywood and Paris, Bellagio, Caesars across the street, and near the new Linq as well as Margaritaville casino inside Flamingo. Bally's is in the middle of the mid strip location.
Making your home at Bally's is important because of the construction at Bill's. You can always make your second home at Flamingo/Harrah's if you want to..........that's what i do, i love Caesars and Margaritaville, as well as Planet Hollywood and Paris. Bally's puts you in the middle of the action.

Bally's all the way! The pool is just relaxing....not a party place. They also have a nice poker room that my hubby loves to play in....said always nice folks and no pro's trying to take advantage of your average Joe traveler. There will be construction around all of them but there is a side door at Bally's that will put you on Flamingo... Bally's also has the biggest rooms....try to get one of the new Jubilee rooms.

We only stayed at Flamingo once and had a horrible room....it wasn't very clean either.

    Good luck!!

My ranking for you would be
    1. Bally's
    2. Flamingo
    3. Harrah's

I prefer Flamingo most of all because of location and hotel ammenities. However, there is more of the drunk 20 something crown there than at the other 2 places. It still isn't terrible though. Also Flamingo has one of the softest poker rooms on the strip.

Bally's is nice and quiet. Spacious enough to spread out, yet not trashy. The rooms are very spacious for the strip and are comfortable.

The biggest downside to Flamingo right now is all the construction. If you can mostly stay on the south end of the strip, Bally's is the clear choice.

Also, use the $20 trick at check in at any of these three. I had it work at all 3 properties and got suites.

Bally's is my choice because it is easy to get in and out driving or running around. Great view if you happen to get a room towards the strip. The rooms are larger than most casinos based on the age of the casino. I love Bally's anyway. Hope you get to stay there.

We just got back from 3 Vegas trips over the past month. Stayed at Flamingo, Bally's, and Paris. We have stayed at all of these many times in the past.

Right now, Bally's is under MAJOR construction. I wish I had taken a picture, but between NYE and this weekend the entire front grounds of the hotel has been torn up and there is a 20 ft deep hole of debris. This is everything from the north side of the property to the south and from Las Vegas Blvd sidewalk to the actual building. No more broken escalator. No more anything out front. Construction on the food area is also supposed to start soon. You will want to find out more about this.

I agree Bally's rooms are the nicest. Flamingo and Harrahs are ok too. If you are going in the winter I would still choose Bally's. If summer and the Flamingo pool is open and Bally's is all torn up, I would choose a Flamingo Go room.

Found this picture from the other thread on Bally's http://vitalvegas.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/ballys_pano.jpg

We've stayed at all three. I would consider your listing order correct: 1st choice - Bally's, followed by Harrah's and then Flamingo.
Bally's by far has the nicest rooms, Harrah's are ok and I would consider it the best location of the three, many people like the vibe at Flamingo, especially Margaritaville, but I am not a fan. Sure, I would stay there again but given the option, I would choose elsewhere.

Only have done Harrahs and Ballys out of your choices and personally I prefer Harrahs as that is where our group stayed 7/2013, my 44th b-day/bach party and 10/2012. Great location and the rooms did the job.

I'm a drunk 20-something and you would probably find my crowd at the Flamingo! :p

In all seriousness, I am a 20-something, not an annoying drunk or anything, pretty quiet (most of the time), BUT the Flamingo is where the loud ones go. I personally prefer Bally's as I play poker and it doesn't get much better than Bally's for a relaxing poker game.

Thanks all for the input and advice. At this point, participant #2 is getting close to pulling the trigger and is also thinking Bally's. Even with construction "we'll always have Paris" to bypass the mess out front if heading south, or on to Flamingo by the food court. Also gives me an excuse to enter the "Stage Door" In my 2 trip's I have spent about an hour total combined in Flamingo & Harrah's, but will take the opportunity this time around to spend more time there to get a better feel for them for future visits.

@K9, by your description I think I may have seen this TR, but I will definitely check it out again.

@2VegasNuts & Frankr163, thanks for the heads up regarding the construction. I had heard of the project but wasn't aware they had already broken ground.

@ROTJob, After staying at Fremont, any Bally's room would seem like a suite :evillaugh, but I will keep a 20 handy and play it by ear.

Finally, in hindsight, I would like to apologize for the "Drunken 20 something WOOOO HOOOO" comment. For most of us, we go to Las Vegas to have fun and let loose a bit, myself included. Most of the "20 something" crowd I have been around were having fun, some may have been drinking a bit, but were generally respectful and behaved. Yeah, there were a couple of idiots, but the same could be said for a few of the 40/50 year olds I came across. I didn't intend to paint all with the same brush. Old man rambling over... :peace:
