I just stayed there and it was really nice, room and service was great. I am also use to staying at Quad, Harrahs, Flamingo and PH. I was always a Total Rewards person but slowly moving towards Mlife now. Just wanted to know what everyones thought about Monte Carlo rooms. Ernie
We split our stay between Monte Carlo and the Aria last trip. The Aria makes Monte Carlo pale in comparison but I had no issues with the Monte Carlo and would stay again in a heart beat. The rooms were fine/clean, the staff was very pleasant, the sportsbook is decent enough - though it is like pulling teeth getting a drink in there. The casino is smaller than most and gives a more intimate feel. At no point was it empty or overly crowded (which I really prefer). Its close enough to NYNY/MGM etc without all the walk thru traffic. You can also tram it to the Aria and Bellagio. Monte Carlo may not be a best kept secret in Vegas but it has its own unique value as far as I am concerned.
Wife and I stayed there MDW 2012 and loved it. Had 9 others in our group and absolutely no complaints and we did the basic rooms. Girls loved the pool and for the guys The Pub's happy hour was exceptional. Were able to take a tasble outside which was next to the pool. I went to Brand for the first time then and have gone there the last 2 trips. Not overly crowded and great sevice.
As MGM properties go, the standard rooms at Monte Carlo are, IMO, underwhelming, probably a couple of steps above Excalibur, but better or on par with most Caesar’s properties (Harrah’s, Quad, Flamingo, Ballys and yes Paris std rooms which are really worn). MC rooms were refreshed a couple of years ago, beat up furniture was replaced, flat panels were put in, but no real changes were made, however, the beds are comfortable! The Std rooms give a good value because of the Hotel itself, but you know that so I won’t get into all the great things the MC has to offer, and there are many. The good news is that this year, the Monte Carlo will renovate all their rooms. I do not have a schedule, but I have been told that they will begin this year, and on the 100 wing of the 29th floor, they have completed some sample renovations for the big wigs to see and make decisions about. This was found out on December 12 and reported by Vegas Chatter. I asked staff at Hotel32 about it during my stay in late December, and was told that it was all hush hush, but they had seen some of the sample materials that were going to be used, but they had not yet seen the rooms themselves and did not know the schedule either. IMO, because it offers so much to so many, once the renovations are done, the MC will be a killer property.
I can't think of any way you could have come to that conclusion? CET has a lower tier than MGM, but other than the Quad or Harrah's the standard rooms are pretty much the same across the strip in my experience. Both have some high end stuff. Ceasars have three villas that are generally only used by royalty from the middle east.
Hotel32 is my home casino, and yes they are renovating the standard rooms, eventually will have all rooms renovated on all standard floors. I did get the opportunity to see one of the renovated rooms (in progress), so far I think they are on target. Although the room I did see the flooring choice would not be my first choice. They have actually renovated 4 rooms waiting on feedback from the executive staff of Monte Carlo.
Blackjacknut, in your opinion, are they making the rooms more modern as they did with the Studios and like Mirage? Or, are they headed in another direction? Have you heard of any timetable?
I'm sorry wigwam, but cet hotels are not nearly as nice as Mgm hotels. Taking villas, penthouses, etc. Out of the equation, you are left with 3 towers in Caesars that can compete with what aria, Bellagio, and The hotel have to offer. The rest of the cet properties are a collection of deferred and half done maintenance issues. I will give Caesars credit for having well maintained common areas but the rest of the properties are simply not as nice as they could or should be. Don't get me wrong, I really love gambling at the flamingo, and have stayed at Harrah 's, Caesars, Paris, and flamingo and enjoyed them all. However if you are looking for a nicer hotel and you don't have comp offers, you are going to get more for your money with mgm properties.
Are you kidding me? It's sad that CET's flagship property is the CP because most of the rooms there suck anyways. Only a few of the towers there are actually nice and worth staying at. Sure, Planet Hollywood is pretty darn good so that makes it 1.5* properties that are worth staying at. MGM on the other hand has Aria/SkySuites , Bellagio, MGM Grand/skyLOFTs/Mansion, Monte Carlo's Hotel 32, and Vdara (tech. doesn't count since they don't have a casino, but still an MGM property).
Who gives a crap what anyone else likes? It never ends. Some people prefer MiLife, some people prefer CET, some people prefer Downtown, Off Strip, or out in the boon docks, some people like to stay for free in crappy hotels, some people prefer to be bathed in luxury for billions of dollars a night, some people like to experience a little bit of both...........it just goes on and on in the never ending story of "where should i stay" or "is the mid-strip better than south strip and visa versa?" Just be happy that you are alive and can enjoy a couple of days or even a week in the meadows. I almost died a couple of years ago..........and i'm thankful that i can still hangout in Vegas, LA, Boston, Hawaii............wherever.
I didn't say they don't have nicer stuff than CET, I said that their standard rooms are no different to CET or anyone else. I was pretty explicit about that as well. The following MGM properties are bog standard stuff (at best in some cases) in the same way that CET has some low end stuff. Luxor, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Circus Circus. Out of your references only one could be considered to be a standard room. None of the following in bold are even remotely akin to what will be booked by a normal holidaymaker. Aria/SkySuites , Bellagio, MGM Grand/skyLOFTs/Mansion, Monte Carlo's Hotel 32, and Vdara. Let's also not forget that even the crappiest strip room is better than a motel 6 or super 8 and usually cheaper so let's not get too snobby about it all.
From what I did see, they are going in the more modern direction. I did feel that some of the accessories (i.e. lamps etc.) need to be changed out because they did not look like they went with the overall modern theme. But yes modern is the theme they are trying to accomplish. I did ask about a timeline and no one could tell me. They are just now getting feedback from the executives on these first few rooms. Overall they are moving in the right direction, they will be allot nicer than what they are now when finished.
