Another which hotel thread, sorry! Haven't been to Vegas in about 6 years, will be going for a 4-night stay next week.

I know these 3 properties offer different "feels", but to us what's MOST important is customer service, housekeeping quality, and cleanliness. We'd like a super clean room, and if there are problems, a staff that is willing to promptly address them. This is by far our most important criteria, so any suggestions based on that would be great.

Other than that, I'm not sure which of these properties is closer to Planet Hollywood and MGM Grand, but that would be a very small bonus as we have family that will be staying at those properties.

Also willing to consider other properties like Bellagio or Palazzo. Mandarin Oriental would be ideal but is a bit above our price range.

Aria and Vdara are both directly across from PHo.
    I would rate them:
    Vdara -> Aria -> Ceasers

Vdara being the most clean and attentive, and Ceasers being the worst (Did I just say that? LOL, but I guess comparatively speaking)

aria is closer to ph as you have to go thru aria to get to ph
much easier to walk from these than cesars to mgm othere wise there all nice places

Stayed at Octavius Tower when it first opened, spring of 2012. It was brand new, so that felt nice. And I got it through free upgrade from Roman Tower :)

Bathroom was awesome, room was a little bit boring, I guess the grayish furnishings created that feeling. I also had a side view of the fountains. The walk from casino to the room was way tooo long though.

Overall, I was happy with the price/value I got, but if I hadn't received the free upgrade, I wouldn't have paid for that room.

I believe both Aria and Vdara are considerably lower priced compared to Octavius Tower, so go for them. I will stay at Aria in three weeks, but so far, the reviews favor it. I just don't know why Aria rooms are that cheap, although they're up there with Wynncore, V/P, Bellagio etc. Maybe because they have gazillions of rooms :)

I would say that Vdara is probably more customer focused. Then Aria, then Caesars.

Then again, I am not really the one to ask. When we stay in Vegas we put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door for our entire visit -even 5 day stays. We never ask for help or assistance unless something is inoperable.

As to distance. PH and MGM are not next door to each each other. In poor weather, a bad walk. In nice weather, a fair walk. But not quite worth a cab either.

Vdara is a good location, ALWAYS a good deal, good staff it's easier for them to remember you, since it's more of a quaint property, and non-smoking.. I think that makes it a little cleaner in general. I've found MGM properties (Aria and Vdara) keep their properties in much better maintenance and cleanliness than Caesars. Vdara and Aria will have the easiest access to PH, there is a walkway across from the mall next to Aria to PH. MGM is a little bit of a walk, but it's doable.

Palazzo is great too! Honestly I'd be happy at any of the places you mentioned.

Getting good service is so subjective.

For some people, it's stuff that I could not care less about, like turndown service, or phony saying your name 40 times at check in.

All I care about is, when I ask about something, am I getting a genuine response?

I've stayed at a good enough variety of properties to know that some of it is random - not everybody has the gene to be helpful, no matter their training.

Some people are also impossible to please.

But here's my approach, and I always get what I need:

I use the bell service when I arrive (I do have enough stuff to justify it, lol). When the bell bring the stuff up to the room, I do ask a question I already know the answer to. And tip well, not excessive.

Be fucking polite :D Say please and thank you. Check-in goes without a hitch, great! Look happy! Is there a hitch? Takes an extra 5 mins to work out? When it's done, look happy! You weren't behind yourself in line!

I usually have a fridge delivered to the room if there isn't already one. That's maintenance/facilities. Another tip.

Housekeeping - I usually don't need or want housekeeping in the room, but as soon as I'm settled in, I go out in the hall and find a housekeeper and ask for a couple of things off the cart and tip a couple of bucks on the spot.

So now I've been there half an hour and the front desk, bell, maintenance, and housekeeping all know me and it cost me $20.

This has paid off for me so many times it's ridiculous. You can say, oh, there's 3,000 rooms in the hotel, they don't remember you for 5 seconds. Believe me, they remember the bad and the good.

Some people just go in with an adversarial attitude towards the staff, which I will never understand.

I'm actually not very demanding, so I agree with the tone of your post. I too don't really like housekeeping coming by, so when I check in I usually ask for some extra towels, soap, etc, and most of the time they are good about bringing it up, and I don't need housekeeping again the rest of my stay. But I've been at hotels where they can't even get this right (won't send me anything even after asking repeatedly). I've also been in a Vegas property that put me in a filthy room (the towels had weird nasty stains on them and there was trash on the floors), and after I demanded a different room, they put me in a room that had not even been cleaned yet after the last guest. So I try to avoid experiences like this at all costs.

I have been to vegas three times in the last year. And all three stays were in these places lol.

I would definitely recommend Vdara if I had to pick between these three. The place is always clean and being able to go back to a smoke free facility after being in casinos all day feels really nice. Also I think the lowest room in Vdara is better than at Aria and better than Octavius tower. Bonus that it is probably the cheapest of the three as well.

Thanks. A suggestion from someone who has stayed at ALL 3 over the last year is really helpful. I'm leaning Vdara anyways.

Another vote for Vdara. It has become our go-to hotel of choice.

We've stayed at both Vdara and Aria in the last year and we far prefer the Vdara. Staying again in Feb.

PHO is is a quick walk (not having to go through Aria btw).

I'd count Caesars out. It's farthest away from MGM and PH. Palazzo is far as well.

I stayed Aria and Vdara this year.

    Vdara is closest to PH.
    Aria is closest to MGM.

The difference between each in closeness is small since Vdara is 5 minutes walk from Aria.

Vdara has very nice service but so does Aria if you are in Skysuites.

Vdara has no casino and no real restaurant.

In my opinion I wouldn't base your decision on your cleanliness worries, unless you're actually OCD. If not, you're probably not going to have an issue with any of the top tier hotels in Vegas. I'd instead find the hotel that I most wanted to stay at based on other factors (food, style, location, price, etc...) and go from there.

Caesars has a few older towers, so I guess you can factor that in, but you can figure out the newer towers.

Bellagio is a great choice if you haven't been there and want a romantic experience. Aria and Vadara are more modern. I personally like having a casino so wouldn't stay at Vadara, but if you like that idea it's not a bad choice.

I don't think there are other better choices that are closer to PH and MGM.

Another option if you are willing to pay a little more is Mandarian Oriental.

Its right next to Aria, it has much much better service then any of the other three, a much better spa, restaurant, and it is relatively quiet considering its location.
