Its because its in Times Square where a gazillion people gather to see the ball drop. You need to avoid the area at all costs if you're trying to get around the city tomorrow night.

Screw that. I would never pay that much for Applebees or TGI

Sounds like the applebees is near the ball drop so the price is really for location. Probably not a bad deal with all things considered.

I've been in NYC for New Year's Eve enough times to say I've been there, done that.

I'd rather get a nice slice of pizza, or some excellent Chinese food.
    Applebee's? I don't think so.

Those people are standing for lots of hours with no restrooms, drinks, or any other niceties that we enjoy

$700 for couple with a seat, restroom, food and drinks on NYE in times square seems like a bargain when you think about it.

Anyone who pays that has too much money in their pocket. I don't care if the mayor and president are on the quest list. $750 for a night out at Applebee's is just plain cocko IMHO.

For that price I would sit that all day/night until a few minutes before the ball dropped. :wink2:

I've worked the Dick Clark NYE show for a good 7 years now. The first year I watched the ball drop from the 7th floor of the building. A few times I've walked outside during the evening, but mostly when I had to fix something. This year I never walked outside and the only reason we watched the show was to time our midnight toast!

I am beyond over it and only do it for the money. But I do appreciate that people, especially tourists, want to be here. The problem with the Applebees deal is that you are not guaranteed a view of the ball.
