I don't know specifically to the way one dresses, but throw in the way one acts as well (present's oneself) and I'd say yes, just like in life, it makes a difference.

Come in well-groomed, polite and well-spoken and it's gotta be better than "hat on backwards, pants around your knees, wife-beater guy" who running his mouth... ya know wha I'm sayin'?

Yea be asian and they'll hook you up. There's a reason they have special hosts that cater to Asians. :)

As smartone said, behavior and attitude (and the amount you're $pending) certainly matter, IMO.

However, if we're strictly talking dress...in my experience, the answer is an unequivocal no. I've not noticed a bit of difference in the way I'm treated whether I'm wearing a jacket and tie or shorts and a polo.

(I suppose I should mention that I will never be caught in gym shorts or a wife beater or anything like that in a casino. So I suppose it's possible that if you're dressed really inappropriately, things might be different.)

    By policy, no difference.

But, if there is a judgement call, people are after all, humans.

Show me a person that says it does not matter to them what people are wearing, etc and I will show you a naive liar.

Not just how they dress but how they look.

Appearances is everything. The way you present yourself, and the way you dress.

I'd agree the way you present yourself and the manner in which you interact with the casino staff matters a lot.

I don't think it has an affect on the outcome for comps but it sure does for service and I'm okay with that.

Have you seen what the Chinese high rollers wear? Not many of them "dress to impress", instead they just wear whatever is comfortable to them, usually a polo and jeans. So, appearance doesn't really matter at a casino, except at the clubs.

If you look like a bum than different story..

Lots of judgemental layman comments on here but anyone in sales or the service industry will tell you never to judge a book by its cover. People buy a Rolex in shorts and tshirt and a rolls Royce in swimwear these days.

What will get you taken care of differently is your attitude. Anyone experienced at dealing with people can tell within a few minutes of conversation whether someone is a bum or a monarch.

You will certainly receive closer attention from wait staff, hotel staff and dealers when you are nicely dressed, but I don't think that would affect any comps.

This sounds like it could turn into a slob vs. snob debate as we covered many times in "how to dress when you dine at LeCirque ( so that I am not offended)".

My favorite character was seen at Jasmine. The old man, attired in Farmer Brown overalls and a plaid shirt, was accompanied by a lovely Asian lady---wife, girlfriend or rented. He was accompanied to his table by several Jasmine staff and his host. No dress code for him.

I wear a tie at work everyday so it does not bother me to wear one around.

I have experimented with the treatment I get with and without one ion Vegas many times and I always get treated way better with one on.

You can get away with alot more mischief as well if dressed up.

Show me any rule short of death and taxes and Pete Rose's imprisonment and there will be an exception.

John Q walks in to Savoy dressed like a ganger or a douchie-er or a farmer, and he's thumped. A roller? No worries.

Clean, polite and well spoken go a long way, however. Cargo shorts and a wife-beater do not.

As the saying goes "SHOW ME THE MONEY". That's all that really matters in Vegas. Dress like a bum but play $500 a hand and you'll be treated like a king.

Why do you "hate" them? They're always handing those passes to me when I walk by and I'll take them or just wave it off. They don't chase you and tackle you down.

What can it possibly hurt to dress nice and be polite?

People who dress like crap or act boorish and still get preferential treatment have proved themselves. You just didn't see it. So if you dress like crap and/or act boorish, be prepared to show similar proof.
