Why are there not more free lounge acts?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not all about the freebies or anything like that. Vegas is a place I love to visit and I have no problem spending cash there.

But I've been wondering, aside from Big Elvis, there doesn't seem to be any free lounge acts, which seems odd to me.

The Volcano, The Fountains, The Gardens, the old TI Show, The Lake of Dreams, the Gondaliers, the wildlife habitat, Midway these are all freebies that take people away from the casino.
With Big Elvis he's in a bar inside the Harrah's, but you have to go inside to watch his free show. Once inside most people at the very least buy a drink at the bar, or people like my parents spend 3-4 days going in and playing the slots closest to the bar so they could still hear his show.

Some of the free acts I mentioned above do make you walk into the building to see them, but most of them are set on a path where you don't even have to walk through the actual casino part.

I would just think that maybe a free comedy show or musical act close enough to the slots where players can listen, or at least have to walk through the casino and sit down and have a few drinks or whatever, may be more beneficial to the casino.

    Do you agree?
And am I wrong, are there any free lounge type acts that I just don't know about?

Theres the Extra bar at PH and they often have a band named the sin city sinners performing there, its very easy to watch any show for free at that place and you hear them loud and clear at the machines near by

I think theres live music there thurs-fri-sat-sun ?

The Hard Rock is starting to do this Thursday thru Sunday nights now at the Luxe Bar. The Luxe is in the nicest section of the property, but also the slowest. The HRH Tower has it's own valet, entrance, check-in, gaming, etc... but most people still prefer the original circle area bar/casino. They had a guy the other night playin' who sounded like a full band with his electronics. He was incredible! Great voice and solid musician. He took requests from the patrons and nailed everything from Beatles to Snoop Dog... I don't believe he turned down anything that was requested and he did them all very well. I even bet for some of you downtown-lovers, he'd play some Cab Calloway! Highdy, Highdy Ho!

You can also get up early and grab a cup of coffee and watch all the drunks leaving the clubs.

Or go to the Peppermill at 7 am and watch all the hookers show up for breakfast. It's a hoot sometimes!

There are bands/performers at several places that I can think of. There's a stage in the lounge at PH, as mentioned. There's the one in Paris. There used to be Indigo in Bally's, but I believe it's gone. But there's still the piano bar in the walkway between Paris and Bally's. There's the Dealertainers in Quad, the piano bar in Harrah's. Cleopatra's Barge in Caesars (I don't think they charge for a regular night). Carnival Court, if you go before they start charging. There's the piano/jazz ensemble at Bellagio. The problem is knowing which nights any of these are actually going on. Generally only on the weekends, I believe.

Daniel Park plays Lily Bar in the Bellagio every Tuesday night and Onyx Bar at Red Rock Casino every Fri and Sat nights.
Check him out, he's really good. I'm not affiliated with him in any way, just a huge fan.

Mandalay Bay has live music pretty much every night at Mizuya, right off the casino floor by the restaurant area. Orchid Lounge has live music at night as well, although I've never actually been there at that time (or, at least, not sober enough to be paying attention!).

Is the Indigo Lounge at Bally's still going? I always enjoyed playing blackjack to some R&B music.

For us, the difficulty of getting from one strip casino to another is not worth it to see a free show (on the Strip). Nowadays to seems to be a real chore to go from Harrah's to the Mirage. Even walking short distances turns in to a hassle.

I know this isn't current but for old timers remember when The Plaza used to have a lounge act in the middle of the casino all the time and they had signs up that said no dancing in the area.

This thread reminded me of that!

Palazzo had live entertainment each night last week...and this was Mon, Tue and Wed. It is the bar located next to the Grand Lux near the theater. There was a guy and a girl team there for 2 of the nights...and she was nice to look at too.
