So I just got back from 3 nights at Main Street Station and have a few general downtown updates and observations:

    • Slotzilla still isn’t open, but there were half a dozen guys working on the main Slot tower, which is barricaded off. It looks really close to being done, except only 2 of the 3 big slot reels are working! It’s really quite an awesome sight looking east from the Plaza as the whole opening of the canopy is filled with the big slot machine.

    • Banger Brewery is supposed to open in 4 days but I think it will take a Christmas miracle because the place looks barren, except for a few workers sitting at the unfinished bar sampling products. Maybe a big push this week will finish things off.

    • Plaza Beer Garden is still not open, but the grass sure looks green and healthy. It was actually warm enough to enjoy some beers outside, but as usual not much real work gets done in December.

So hopefully come March (my next trip) all these additions will be up and running smoothly. A few other observations from under the canopy:

    • I walked through the Vegas Club to assess the current state of things, but it was early afternoon on Saturday and I could count the customers on one hand. All of downtown was really slow this weekend so it probably wasn’t a fair assessment.

    • I’ve never seen so many sad old men standing around with cardboard signs asking for money. Maybe they stood out more because the crowds were light, or maybe it was the time of year, but I swear there were dozens of them.

    • I got my ass handed to me playing craps at MSS, which is not too unusual, but I was playing next to a “Hawaiian Psychic” who really impressed me. He was betting big, like $300-400 a roll, and was randomly switching between pass and don’t pass bets. At least it looked random to me, except he guessed right about 90% of the time, and this was over a couple of hours of play - he totally cleaned up. It reminded me of that old joke about the Thermos: it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold – how does it know? Next time I see this guy I’ll just copy what he does.

    Cheers and good luck!

Thanks, nice update. I like to play at the table with the old guy taking notes on the inside corner...somebody has to keep those dice honest!

Thanks. We'll be in downtown on Valentine's Day/President's Day this year. I will see how things are progressing.

Just to add a little update, the Vegas club had decent business at night, the table girls and the stage probably helped. I was DT from 12/20-12/24.
The Plaza seemed dead at the same time when I popped in for a slice at POP
    PIZZA.

This cracked me up. I used to love playing the Don't on craps but the dirty look could make you feel uncomfortable at times.

    Thanks for the update!

Oh, think twice, before you bum another quarter off of Andrew Dice.

(Thread brings back a 25 year flashback).

Banger Brewery is indeed open for bidness and they have a few interesting beers I'd like to try in a few weeks.

We had a blast our last trip to Fremont a couple years ago. Well except my feet were killing me by the end of the night. I didn't realize til looking at this site that they have been under so much construction. Be cool to see how much it has changed in the last two years.
