Hi all, Tom here. I was employed by a major casino chain in Vegas as a dealer then as a floor sup/pit manager. I worked my way up to asst. casino manager before taking an extended leave of absence. Your board is fun to read from my perspective.

Welcome cardslambert! I look forward to some of your insights, particularly in the thread for Gaming. Do you think you will ever return to the industry?

I did some consulting work for the chain on the East Coast. I might return to Vegas in the future??

    welcome to the board!

I'm curious how often you saw people successfully walk while they were ahead vs. plow back in all their big winnings (and more) and leave penniless....

I'm wondering when you worked there? Was it before the mega corps came in? Back in the early 90's I'd still run into dealers that spoke of working there when the mob ran things and to a person, all said they preferred it. Any thoughts?

Is there a side of casinos the regular joe just doesn't understand? I always thought there was a whole other side to them that we never saw.

Craps roll, one die shows 4 and the other lands wedged between two stacks of checks with the edge pointing straight up to the ceiling, with a 3 facing you and a 6 facing the other way. Jammed table loaded with checks.

    What's your call?

    :D

    Welcome to the board.

It will be great to get your insight into the industry and see how far off or how right on the members knowledge is of the casino business. I am particularly interested in your insight into Vegas and where you see things heading.
