Has anyone had success with getting upfront comps from a host based on an offer or play/status from another prop such as Mlife/CET?

I tried that about a year ago and didn't get far. so instead, I went back a few months later, gave them some big play for an hour, and then talked to a host about upfront comps on a future trip. After that, they gave me pretty much everything I wanted upfront. Can't really say I was surprised by this response. Anyone can walk in and say I play big across the street so give me some comps. They want to see some play to verify what you are telling them

That's pretty much what I figured the response would be as well. I was hoping that if I forwarded them the email for my upcoming trip from my Bellagio host confirming my avg bet and theo that somehow maybe they would match it in order to entice me to their property instead. I guess I can pop in there for an hour and play a few hands. Thanks.

playing in the high limit, ask them to call up a host and that will be your contact for further trips.

The pit will just directly call, no need to search for an office or anything.
I feel like they are a lot more generous than mlife.

I find they are very helpful. THey are currently sending me mailers for 5 free nights. I think as a middle of the road player it is pretty solid .

Nostress- What type of play did you give them and what are they not taking care of. My host during my last trip took cars of roughly 100 dollars in extra charges even though I didn't have the comp earned as they serverly understated me. THe trip before I did well and she told me how many dollars I had left so I could spend them on food and gift shop. I must have a really nice host.

It isn't directly from the host but from casino marketing.

I was from the time when nobody could/would tell you about the number of identity points I had. And the lounge got moved and nobody knew where it was. I was a fairly strong slot player, but the whole identity thing just rubbed me wrong, so we gave up.

Well, I didn't try that. Give it a shot and see what happens. My only other thought would be cautious about upsetting your Bellagio host. Hosts at different properties know each other. If a cosmo host contacts your Bellagio host to confirm the info in your email, its possible your Bellagio host may not go out of their way to be as helpful in the future

all host are now requried to man that desk during there shift at cosmo .it used to be that desk or a casualy host on duty was the lowest host on the totem pole not at cosmo those host at the desk are all top host so stop by and say high have them review your play and see what they can do but rember the are host and dont excpect 5 dollar 5 bj player to get much more than a nice hand shandshake.

that the easiest way to break the ice also its hard sometime for them to say no if your in front of them than on the phone if they dont know you if your on the border of possible comps they can feel you out and say hey i like this person or i dont maybe we can convert him to the cosmo.

the first clue they like you is the ask where else do you play and stay and do you have host anywhere else that means there interested in you.

Yeah, I met my host before they started those mandatory hours at the desk in the front of the HL. Makes sense. The actual host office at the back of the HL is not obvious.

theve moved them out of the back on onto the floor much smarter move.

the palms did the same thing.

have them interact is alot smarter way to cultivate players especialy it can be very overwhelming for newbies and there pretty clueless so if there out there meeting and minlgling good move.

this board is a great source of information on current developments and up to date info.

when I first started playing, I had no idea about "hosts" besides on TV and the rumor mill.

If you are new to the "host" scene, I feel cosmo currently is extremely friendly as long as you log in the required play.

If you get rated correctly, and the comps calculator you find online (where you enter the game, dollar amount wagered, length of time playing) are very accurate. The host has more often than not given me more on the back end in regards to clearing room charges/dining etc.

the hosts have been quite responsible lately compared to the 1st and 2nd year of opening. they will explain the process and will let you see the computer screen that tracks everything.

they take out a lot of the "mystery" compared to Mlife for me.

I think part of demystifying would be knowing the comp formula. Based on the time and avg bet, you can get a good sense of where express comps and primary comps should be at, and you'll know when the host is totally BS-ing you

I don't really care about tier credits (since i'm way past Mlife plat but nothing close to Mlife noir), and i'm always careful when dealing with hosts trying to undercomp you
