One hotel you wish they never built

This just for conversation I was talking to a friend who been to Lv a few times and he said that they should never built the circus circus as he thought it just looked out of place . As I said just as a conversation what hotel do you think look out of place on the strip .

 

Problem with CC is it was built at a time when Vegas thought it was moving toward a family town, that hasnt really worked. Although it never hurts to have a kid friendly hotel since no matter what 99% us think, kids are going to be brought to lv no matter what.

As for a hotel that shouldnt have been built, thats a tough question as I there arent any that I dont like so much I wish it wasnt around. I would maybe say The STRAT shouldnt have been built as its in a strange place and out of place. That is even worse now that the North Strip is dead. It never has generated money like Stupak thought it would, but I actually enjoy the place. I do t make it in each time I hit Vegas, but I try!

 

For the real scoop on why Circus Circus was built read the book "Grandissimo" by David G. Schwartz. The book is about Jay Sarno, the man who conceptualized and built Caesars Palace and Circus Circus. Sarno was about 25 years ahead of what Vegas went through during the late 80s, 90s and even now.

I'd say of the casinos that were successfully finished, the QUAD. I was a big fan of OSheas bc you could go there any time of day and find a fun, rowdy group of revelers celebrating cheap hooch, low minimums, and the color green. And honestly, who doesn't like green?

 

Aria. And City Center in general. Not sure if there is anyway that whole project could feel less "Vegas".

 

I don't think this is right. Vegas went through its "family friendly" phase in the early nineties, after construction of the Mirage. Circus Circus was built in the late sixties. I don't think there was any family friendly push then

 

My vote is probably TI. Its just entirely bland to me. And I kinda liked the themed era of vegas, but this theme holds no interest for me. And now the property is even more boring to me since it seems to be turning into a strip mall out front

 

I'm cool with everything there, frankly.

I like that Circus,Circus is there but up north in no where land. If parents want to bring their kids, boom, at least it's not in the heart of strip.

Add to that, I might wanna hit a rollercoaster besides the Manhattan Express (I refuse to call it 'The Rollercoaster'). Lol

I like CityCenter with it's futuristic look as well as Wynncore and Cosmo. There's enough old school in Vegas still.

I actually tire of the old building designs in Vegas like the X and tri-spoke ones. CityCenter and other spots did something different.

 

I wish City Center was never built. I avoid it like the plague.

 

You are correct. Jay Sarno built it to bring gambling to the masses, not just the upper crust as Caesars had been.

 

It's not a hotel but I absolutely despise the loss of good real estate that Neonopolis occupies downtown. As far as casinos go it wouldn't bother me too much if the LVH never existed. Besides Elvis should have been on the strip...

 

I don't mind the appearance of Excalibur, but it is just in the wrong spot.

 

Discounting the shells of failed hotels, I'd vote for CityCenter. Hate the whole place and the whole concept.

I agree with this.
It just looks like a giant cluster-fuck...if they would have just made ONE GIANT hotel, rather than 4 separate towers, I think it would have looked better...

 

Man, if not for Kirk Kerkorian's International & Steve Cyr, all of us would view Vegas MUCH differently...

I will say I don't like Crystals but then again, it's just not for me. I'd rather it had been another casino.

Crystals is just a shortcut to Aria from the strip and vice-versa. I like the Forum Shops (which has a nice mix of upscale and mid) and Miracle Mile (bottom tier) much better.

I certainly think Citycenter is a step up from Boardwalk.

 

Not a hotel, but Fashion Show Mall really breaks up the Strip and interrupts the continuity of hotels. It's possible... not probable, but possible, that having a hotel/casino on the corner would create foot traffic to New Frontier and Stardust. I would have liked to see a third Four Corners on the Strip.

 

I actually agree with this. I thought I was cool with everything built thus far but the Fashion Show Mall seems like a waste.

If there is going to be shopping, I like it connected to casino and hotel.
