The only casinos we've been to were in Vegas or on a cruise ship. Harrah's Cherokee is about 4.5 hours from us. I'm thinking about doing a one night trip between Christmas and New Year's.

Have any of you been there? If so, how did you like it?

We live about 20 minutes from Cherokee---it is a beautiful casino since all the remodeling has been done.
I find it to be a little tight on the machines--but have also had nights that they were paying pretty good--lots of machines to chose from.
Rooms are very nice and friendly people

Have you ever been to a concert there? Kool and the Gang will be there soon, tickets are cheap, as low as $32.

We stop every year on our way from Ohio to our daughter's in SC. As a previous poster mentioned it is a gorgeous setting and a beautiful resort. We go in November, but we've talked about making a trip down when there's still leaves on the trees.

The slots do seem to be a little tight, although on one trip we made out really well. There are decent food options, but we do miss Paula Dean's!

Try to get there during the daytime. The road up the mountain can be a little hairy - esp at night in the rain with a queen mattress and box spring tied to the top of your van!
