    My Trip Report

    Thanksgiving Week
I was in Los Angeles all of Thanksgiving week with my Gal Pal, my Niece and her Boyfriend. They are both in their early 30’s (damn young-ins haha) and my niece had never been to LA LA Land. We ended up on the same connecting flight into LAX. Once there we stayed at the Hilton at Universal Studios. We’ve been several times but for their benefit we did all of the tourism stuff a first timer would do from; touring several Movie Studios, going to a TV show taping, visiting Beverly Hills, the Hollywood Sign, Rodeo Drive, the Walk of Fame, the Celebrity Home Tours, and visiting the Cemeteries, Beaches etc… We had a great time and on our drive to LAX for our flight home we received text messages that the flight was delayed. However our connecting flights out of Atlanta to both Orlando and to Tampa were still on time. So the dilemma was did I want to fly 5 hours to Atlanta and miss our connecting flights then have the 4 of us stuck in Atlanta over night?

    Las Vegas Detour
Or drive to Vegas for 2 nights flying direct flights out on Monday… Well, it didn’t take long for me to make the executive decision and so after returning the California rental (Emissions ya know) and picking up another rental (good for the rest of the country) we were back on the road spewing out carbon exhaust and hauling ass to Las Vegas whoo hoo! My niece and her boyfriend were both freaked out and excited at our (as my niece called it) “Living on the Edge” attitude. So while she and her boyfriend were on their iPhone’s in the back seat rearranging their work and flight schedules I was on my iPhone up front re-booking our flights home then calling Wynn and booking two partially comp’d rooms then calling MLife and buying 4 Carrot Top tickets for that evening.

    Saturday Arrival
They had never been inside Wynn before only the nightclub and so I made sure to get them a Strip view on the 21st floor. They both said it was the nicest hotel room either of them had ever stayed in! While they have been to Vegas before they are both pretty much Vegas newbie’s so they were thrilled! After getting settled in we grabbed a quick bite to eat at ZooZa Crackers and then drove over to Luxor where I had them sign up for MLife Cards while we had replacement cards printed out for us. Remember this was a non scheduled spur of the moment trip seeing that I will be there Christmas week so we needed cards! Anyway we gambled a little bit at Luxor before the 8:30pm show. This was our 2nd time seeing Carrot Top but it has been like 7 years so I’m glad we saw him again and they loved the show. You can’t go wrong with Carrot Top! He’s great!

    Let The Games Begin
Afterwards we drove back to Wynn where I had them both sign up for the Red Card while we had replacement cards printed out for us and I claimed the Free Play waiting for me. My niece and her boyfriend fell in love with the Michael Jackson slots and she managed to turn $20 into over $200 so she was obsessed! We played our usual machines like Double Jackpot and on one machine I put in a $52 ticket and hit the Max Bet button. I won 22 credits then realized I was on a damn $10 machine! So that one and only pull cost me $50 so lucky me I hit for $220!

    Sunday
The next morning I hit the spa and then we all ate at Wynn’s Buffet and they were again blown away. In fact my niece won 4 free Buffets to be used anytime so I know she’ll be headed back to the Wynn in the near future. She was working that Free Play and Point Play like a pro in less than a day. Haha! After breakfast we drove over to Bellagio and gambled a bit. We stayed at Bellagio while they walked over to Planet Ho and then later to Aria for some sight-seeing. Meanwhile we were mostly down and once again I knew it had to be because I had not eaten my lucky Grilled Cheese Sandwich yet so I texted my niece and they met us across the street at the Sugar Factory. Afterwards we had them sign up for the TR Players Cards while we had ours re-printed and then we hung out at Paris for awhile and later walked over to Bally’s then back to Paris and then the 4 of us did the Eiffel Tower Experience. It was their first time and our second time but we had never done it at night. It was a beautiful view!

    Final Push
After Paris we drove back to Wynn for that last final push before flying home Monday morning. They stayed at Wynn to play Michael Jackson and may have even gone up to the room. In fact I think us 2 old fogies wore them out on this trip! Anyway we walked over to Encore where we found some old school 3 reel WOF’s at only $2 Max bet. We had a bank of 3 machines with an empty machine between us. My Gal Pal was hitting $25 - $40 Spins left and right. I hit a few like her but then I got a spin and BAM I hit $1K! Yeah baby!!! THANK YOU! You gotta believe in the Power of the Grilled Cheese!

    Low Roll'in
So I started thinking… Hmmm we’ve played games from $5 Max Bet to $9, $10, $15 and even the $50 Max Bet I screwed up on. Here’s a bank of WOF’s with a total Max Bet between them of only $6! So I put in our other room key (players card) and dropped in a $100. I’d hit my machine, she’d hit hers and we would take turns on the middle machine. It was like a ballet really. That machine hit a few times and so after cashing out I went to bed with $1,500. We won’t talk about my Gal Pal’s after hour activities after I went to bed haha… I hope she learned her lesson… Nah… Who am I kidding?

    Monday Airport

At the airport during our goodbyes my niece hands each of us a card and then we all went our separate ways to different gates. We both started tearing up reading the sweet comments they wrote… Very nice! This was another Great Trip with Great Company and we all had a blast! And best yet… Less than 3 weeks to go and as Arnold says; I’ll be back!

Love the spur of the moment trip! I have actually thought about just flying to vegas for a weekend before out of the blue but never pull the trigger. I actually stayed at the Wynn on Sunday-Wednesday of last week so barely missed you.

Was my first time staying at the Wynn as well and will definitely be back. Hitting a couple royals there may have something to do with it!

Thanks for posting this spontaneous trip report. I look forward to a more lengthy report later this month. Just be sure you have that prized grilled cheese upon arrival.

This is the 2nd time our flights out of LAX have been screwed up and both times we ended up driving to Vegas. I hate LAX so for now on I'm flying into Burbank's - Bob Hope Airport!
The only problem with flying into Burbank is that it's a direct flight from Orlando to Vegas and then you change planes. Good news is it's a short hop skip and a jump to Burbank but a
pain to have to do the SWA Gate line up etc... And it's always so weird to be sitting in McCarran and not able to hit the Strip. Anyway I played several other slot machines including
the new Iron Man machine which has a weird Pin Ball machine flat glass design. The design however can not make up for the fact that the game is a huge disappointment. Too bad really.

I forgot to mention that we must have done some damage at Bellagio because a Casino Host rounded the corner, introduced himself calling us both out by name and gave us his card haha!

    Thanks for reading
