What can you tell me about Shreveport Casinos?

Didn't see a section for Non Vegas Gambling so putting this here...

I have a chance to swing by Shreveport the week after xmas. Most likely Monday, Dec 30.

Looks like there are six casinos there. I'm just looking for some basic info. Table minimums ($5??), are drinks free, which of the casinos are the nicer ones, do they have weird rules (such as paying a blackjack ante like in OK casinos).

This kind of basic information is surprisingly deceptive on the internet. What I have been able to find is very out of date.

The Shreveport casinos are nice. You do not have to ante for table games. That is an Indian casino practice. I am pretty sure you can find $5 tables. We usually stay at Horseshoe . But I do like Sam's town and eldorado. There are a couple of others which are there but we usually don't go to them. Free drinks

They have class 3 gaming not class 2 like the Oklahoma Indian casinos

Fantastic. Thanks so much. I'll definitely plan to go then. I'll be in an OK casino next week so I'll be able to make a thorough comparison. I never heard of class 2 or 3 gambling before. I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

The thing that I liked the best was at the Horseshoe they had a beer stand across from the players club right as you walk onto the casino floor that had comped beer. No sitting at a machine putting in more money waiting for your drink to arrive. I think all of the casino's except for the one at the racetrack are boats. The one at the racetrack is slots only. No tables or video poker. It is real easy to get comped rooms Sunday through Thursday. It's not Vegas but I've enjoyed both times I have visited.

Agree about the easy comps for Horseshoe. I have yet to pay for a room Sunday-Thursday and I am a very low roller. I'm going on a comp Jan 1-3. I want to know more about that comped beer stand. Are you talking about where that hot dog stand is set up? I will have to look for it. I've never had problems at the Horseshoe getting plenty to drink anyway. Sometimes I've even gone up to the doorway back where those VP machines are and just giving the girl a tip there and got my beer.

On the left side on the main entrance just under the escalators. I heard the girl offer the beer for free to a couple, and the guy responded what's the catch. I never knew they were free there either, but I get my Crown at the tables or VP.

That's exactly where it is. I got in line to buy a couple of beers and the girl said they were comped when I tried to pay.
