Help check my math on points and EC's

On the trip I just got back from, on day two it just didn't seem like my points were going up like they should. They were only like 8500. So I went to the window and my tier credits were over 100,000. I had two supervisors look into it on two different days, and both basically blew me off.

So figuring out what your points are from what your tier credits are - shouldn't it be as follows:

1 point = 10 tier credits.

So 196,000 tier credits earned - divided by 10 would be 19,600 points - then add another 30% for being platinum - and that should add another 5,880 and I should have had 25,480. I ended up with only 15,500. So 155 in point play, and 152 in express comps.

Is my calculation correct?

You are leaving out some facts.

First of all, which hotel chain? I'm assuming M-Life since you mention the 30% platinum bonus.

What are you playing? I'm assuming VP since you mention 1 credit = 10 tier points.

Any other info to share?

 

Yes, M Life. And it doesn't really matter which machines I was playing. Whether points are earned playing 3 reel machines or specialty machines - 1 point still equals 10 tier credits.

So on a 3 reel machine, 3 dollars gets you 1 point.
On a VP machine, 10 dollars gets you 1 point.

But regardless of which machine you played - that 1 point is still equal to 10 tier credits.

 

I'll take a shot at it. Please feel free to correct me.

(Tier credits/(1+tier bonus))/10= points
(196,000/(1.3))/10=15,077 points

Points x .01 = point play and/or express comps
15,077 x .01 = 151 point play and/or express comps

 

Tier credits aren't impacted by the platinum bonus (this only affects point play and express comps). So you should just be able to take the tier credits and divide by 10 to get your true points - 19,600 - then add the 30% platinum bonus points.

I was just there in June, earned 135,000 tier credits and earned more points and express comps ($175) on that trip then I did on this trip with 196,000 tier credits.

You said this issue occurred on day 2 of your trip? Is it possible you earned tier credits on day 1 that didn't get reflected until day 2? Perhaps they were from table games? That would make you think you earned more tier credits in day 2 (that were actually from day 1).

Also, isn't it possible to see your points accruing as you are playing? I think they are shown on that small screen on the machine. You could of reconciled your points after each session.

 

Your TC's were almost the same as mine last trip. Unfortunately, I used my EC's and PP as I went along, so I don't know for sure about what I earned. But, if I had to guess (and I am a good guesser), I would say I earned very close to 150 EC's and PP.

 

I think there is something fishy going on with either tier credits or points, but likely its tier credits. I just ended a trip and earned over 400k TCs. Way more than I thought I would get and none of that is from hotel spending. But my earned pointplay and ECs reflect maybe half that or a little more.

I meant to go talk with my host or someone at Mlife about the numbers but never got a chance. I did get my total theo for tables though (all blackjack) and based on that less than 100k TCs were from tables and over 300k from VP. I definitely spent way more time playing BJ than VP so I can't imagine there is any way I did $300k coin-in on VP. I wish I kept track but I just let it slip.

 

Well, I'm leaning towards the points being fishy. I gambled harder on this trip than I ever have before (3 hand pays helped with that) - and I could just tell my points weren't going up the way they should. That was confirmed when I saw my tier credits. Your tier credits should never be proportionally higher than your points.

That's true. Mine don't make a lot of sense either. I don't remember exactly how many points I earned because I did use them randomly throughout the trip but it wasn't close to the ~$400 I should have earned by backing out my TCs from VP plus the platinum bonus. Same with ECs. Unfortunately I never got around to going through all these numbers with them.

The only thing I can confirm for others is the theo number we've used for BJ at those good games at MGM casinos. I played almost exclusively the DD game at Aria and one session on the good shoe game and I got my theo number and avg bet/hours from the host's office at the end. It came out to exactly 52.57% of my average bet per hour. Same as the number we've used on here before.
