Me and some friends from my local poker game are heading out jan9-13th to play some poker and watch the nfl playoffs. Im going to bunk by myself and these are two offers I have

The Mirage for $348 which includes tax and resort fees, and The Harrahs(and all CET comparable properties) for $172 including tax and resort fees.

I saw Mirage rate first, and thought not bad. I stayed there last time, and loved it. But that was 4th of july, and the pool was open. I always found the harrahs to be a super fun casino, and both of them have a great location. Most of the poker tourneys I will play will either be venetian or caesars, and our plans are to watch the NFL games at lagassaes at venitian. My friends are gonna be spread out, some at quad, and i think Mirage also.

I loved the Mirage, but, i am heavily leaning towards the Harrahs offer, for half the price, and a slight edge in location(monorail, same side of st as venetian and I love partying at pianobar/carnival court)

Anyone have a better argument to change my mind?

    Harrahs will be just fine.

Venetian and Mirage right there. If you have friend at Quad, it is right next door as well.

Sounds of things, not sure what you would use Monorail for.

I would definitely do Harrahs for that price difference. If it was summer then it might be a harder decision because of the Mirage pool... But for this time of year being the same general location I'd definitely go with Harrahs.

Yeah, pool season would make me pick Mirage I think. And my room there was awesome, it was an upgraded room since they messed up and didn't have a 2 queen room for one of the nights I had booked, gave me a king upgrade with a rollout. As long as my room is clean, I'm pretty ok with anything, may just go for the $20 trick at harrahs and see what I get. As for the monorail, your right, probably won't need it, but I may wanna shoot down by MGM one day.

If the wife isn't going, and it is the standard room at both places, Harrahs rooms are not bad enough to basically pay double to stay at the mirage. The area is basically the same for both. The actual room is very similar except newer and trendier looking at mirage. They should both be clean, and if you inspect the room and find harrahs room isn't clean to your standards, call the front desk and they will change rooms. Now, if you get a free upgrade, the mirage upgrade would be much nicer. The suites there kill the petite suite upgrade you might get at harrahs. And without it being pool season, that takes another perk from mirage away. It is even closer at harrahs also for a quick cheap burger at mcdonalds or a 1.00 beer at casino royale to have while walking to another casino.

Well, I personally don't think i'd ever stay at Harrah's... unless it's a super budget trip or something. But if you are ok with the quality of their rooms and the property then why not save the money?

For what you need...Harrah's is a no brainer. Take the savings and put it on the playoff games!

I've stayed at harrahs 2x in the past, from my memory the rooms were pretty nice, mayb not huge, but nice. And I do enjoy the party atmosphere of the casino, since besides poker and sports, I really only play craps...I've always had fun shooting there.

The Mirage was the nicest room I've had in Vegas, followed by Caesars. After that, most every other place I've stayed was all serviceable, clean decent rooms. The only room I ever thought sucked was Ballys, it was very old feeling. and that casino was boring as hell. That is the only place I would never double back to

Check rates at Vdara as well. You will have easy access to two of the best poker rooms...Bellagio and Aria.

Since you plan to play at V and Ceasar's, then I would pwrsonally choose Mirage over Harrah's. Win the difference back at the tables...lol.

You are planning to go between two big conventions (CES and SHOT), so that would explain the higher than normal rates.

I assume the $348 and $172 are total costs for 4 nights and not per nt, correct?

I'd stay at the nicer property unless you just need a spot to rest your head.

It's not even $90 per nt.

Yes that is the total for 4 nights after tax, resort fees and all.

I didn't think either rate was bad, since it's a weekend, and nfl divisional playoff round, which IMO is the best for action.
