I feel cheated! I don't/can't drink...I play the same $$ as the drunk next to me, but he scarfed up $50 of free booze while I sipped my coffee and water. For the life of me I haven't figured out how to get mine!

    It can't be just me.....

You've got to look at this as a positive. It took me around 12 years to figure out there's a direct correlation between going to Vegas, getting drunker than Cootie Brown, gambling and coming home broke.:grrr:

Since I stopped drinking, I never come home flat broke and even occasionally come home with more than I went out with. As far as I'm concerned, that's me getting mine.

I have very few drinks while in Vegas. I'm stupid enough gambling without adding being drunk into the mix :)

I don't drink either and still enjoy gambling. As someone else said, I don't need any extra help getting a losing steak started.

the quality and quantity, of the booze, usually, in the mixed drinks that person next to you is getting, is pretty poor...not really missing that much. if you ordered an orange juice, or a grapefruit juice, you would find out the quality of the mixers!

there are virgin varieties of bloody mary's, or daquiris, etc. etc. available at most places, just ask. then you can get the same attention from the cocktailers.

$50 worth of free booze? Sounds like a teetotaler to me! Was there a CW strike or something? :drunk:

Being/Getting drunk may impair your ability to think clearly and affect playing table games or VP and such . Slots however takes no brain power (usually). Either way, drinking to me is a must in Vegas. It's just part of the experience.

I do not drink either! You could always get $50 of Free Water, Sodas and Coffee served to you if you so desired.

And, at nicer places, make those Pellegrino waters and double cappuccinos--starts to add up fast...

Slots take discipline to not up your bet while youre drunk as they suck your money away. :evillaugh

As for the OP, just order some virgin stuff if you want something to drink...I'm sure the bar charges almost as much for those. They are evil with their prices.

Since I play black chips, I choose not to drink while I gamble as I don't need to give the house a higher edge than they already have. I actually like my money.

If i'm screwing around at the $15 tables then yes, I will get hammered and stay on my 16 against dealer's 10 and split 10's vs dealer's 9! :drunk:

How about ordering an upscale water or club soda, like a perrier, or a non alcoholic beer like o'douls or a virgin pina colada? :peace:

That's true, but drinking is so good at blunting the pain of losing. At least until you sober up and start thinking, "damn wtf did I do?!" :wink2:

The casinos aren't giving away the booze so you can just have a good time.
It's a calculated play to raise the house edge since being impaired will definitely effect your judgment while gambling.

Me personally I like to do my serious gambling in the morning sober, and will screw around with a limited bankroll later. Unlike some other people who post on the board, I generally have lost my ass gambling while drunk.

Amen to that! I primarily play VP and always end-up increasing my play amount above what I usually spend and make stupid decisions when I've had too many. The times it's worked in my favor are minuscule compared to the times it hastened my departure.

I don't drink by choice, maybe one beverage on a trip and I enjoy myself quite a bit. I don't feel line I am missing out, I feel like I'm gaining since I remember what happens
