This may have been brought up before, but here goes. If you arrive late in the evening and check into a comped CET property in Vegas, does your ADT get dinged for that day even if you don't have a chance to play? Do you think it's wise to not use your card that day if you find yourself in that situation? It would be hard to duplicate 8 hrs of average daily play in only an hour or two.
i asked the same question a couple if days ago...was told that it starts the moment that you check in to that comped room. i figured as much i am a late arrival as well and planned to hit a few mlife properties that night. hope it doesnt throw me off too much, still planning to play most at cet props. enjoy your trip, freez
I get in at 11:00pm, I was thinking of not playing until I wake up next day (after6:00am). And by not play I mean, with my card thoughts?
Unless things have changed ADT is only triggered when you insert your card into a machine or your card is swiped by the pit boss. Remember also that a "Day" is not midnight to midnight. In most CET properties it is sometime early in the morning like 5 or 6 am. Now, if you are staying in a comped room and show no gambling activity for that day, that is something different. Unless you are receiving substantial comps now above and beyond free rooms and some free play, 1 day of no or low gambling activity is probably not going to negatively affect your comps. If you totally "stiff" them however, that is a different story.
if its a comped room or you have given them your rewards number its starts then ,if you book a payed room and dont give them your tr number it doesnt matter
I am not 100% convinced that checking in starts the computer ticker. It might. But, if you are only going to play a little, why not just skip using the card... just in case? If my checkin in day is light, I do NOT use my card. Actually, I have had 4-5 day trips and only play with CET card on 2-3 days. I might play a little the other days, but do NOT use my card. Does it help? Hard to say. But, giving up $17 in total rewards credits or whatever is surely not a big loss. (or whatever small credit I would get for a low play day)
I'd hate to think of it starting the day you check in. If it applied to the main player, it might also apply to the companion. If it's a partial day, I've started playing on my husband's card that day.
I thought I read somewhere that your ADT at CET is averaged over the # of days that you stay. I have no idea if this is true b/c we play when we want to not when we think we'll benefit. Maybe this is MLife that I'm thinking about though so don't take my word for it.
Once you use your card on a CET property, anywhere, anything, once that # goes in, you've clocked a day. When you check in on a comp, your TR# goes into the system, *DING*, you've begun a day.
If the companion was on the reservation, maybe. That was used to get a better rate/comp, but no idea if it sticks, and is transferred from the hotel system over to the Total Rewards systems. As to which card you play with - we ALWAYS focus play on one card or the other. Especially with this year bonus points.
With MLife its been posted that they average it over the number of nights you stay. So if you're there Fri-Sun and play each day you'll get averaged over 2 days, regardless of how little you play on the Friday you check-in or the Sunday you checkout. With CET this same play would apparently be averaged over 3 days. I don't know what is actually confirmed or not, but I've come to the opinion I might as well always use my card. On my last overnight in AC I decided to play a little VP the morning we were leaving and inserted my card to use some freeplay. Good thing I did because I ended up putting about 3000 TCs of play in before bonus, and losing all my winnings from the previous night plus more. Even though I thought I would only play for a tiny bit, I ended up chasing and chasing so at least I got some credit for it.
This is the approach I've been using the last couple of years. I'll use a card if I know I'll be heavy gambling on a certain day. I'll not use a card if it's a light gambling day. Of course I always use a card at the hotel I'm staying at if I'm on a comp. This is what I'm assuming happens. If you check in at midnight on a comp, you have to play twice as hard on day 2 to make up for no play on day 1.
CET has trip averages, daily adt, annual adt, and who knows what else. They even calculate different in AC vs. Vegas I heard. The only time I don't use my card is after 6 am on checkout morning; that can trigger another trip and gambling day. If you are staying three days use your card even on low play days or else trip average will suffer.
When I'm at a local CET casino, I take stuff like this into consideration but not as much in Vegas. My experience is that they are a little more forgiving if you don't play on a check in day or have one light day. And if you are a long time customer, it's going to take a lot to significantly alter your averages.
I just came back from 5 nights at Bally's. I did the same thing i have always done including 2 other times this year. I never use my card on the 6th day. I checkout at 11 am and leave Vegas about 3 pm never once using my card. In fact, after 11 am on the day of departure, i'm no longer in any casino even though i have a few hours left to kill. And i also don't use my card after midnight on the previous night just to be safe.
