Worse than dropping 10k in ten minutes at craps.

Worse than eating tainted shrimp cocktail at the Fremont and spending the majority of the trip hunched over the toilet.

Worse than discovering that the lady you've, ahem, met at the bar is actually a dude.

    Okay, maybe not that bad...

I've had to postpone my trip for next year. My countdown clock had just started to look reasonable at 179 days. And now it's nearly a YEAR away.

    I'm thoroughly depressed right now.

See you in a year, Vegas.

    Santé,
    TL

Okay, if it is not too personal, what was the reason for postponement?

I completely feel for you! I had a similar instance where we had a family emergency and had to cancel a Vegas trip just 1 day before leaving. It sucks!

Well, maybe not as much as the dude at the bar (pun intended) :ssst:

Hang in there and keep hitting the forums. They are our version of AA....VA!

Funny post! Maybe something will change again (like win an all expenses paid trip) and you'll be able to get to town sooner!

I dont think any delay would make me feel worse than losing 10K in 10 minutes... I dont know if anyone agrees with me but yeah ...lol

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Postponing would be a close second though:beer:

I wasn't ignoring my own post, I swear.

The reason is pretty straightforward: the guys I go with are both having kids soon. And the earliest they can justify getting out of the house for an extended period of time is October.

And yes, I suppose I could go by myself. But dropping thousands of dollars on gambling, bottle service and strippers all by myself just doesn't feel quite right. You gotta have your boys there, you know?

    Maybe I need new friends.

    Santé,

I've been seriously considering a one night, whirlwind trip. But I'm on the east coast, so the time change makes a one-nighter pretty tough.

Anyone from the eastern time zone ever pull a single? I had a business trip to Denver for one night and that was rough enough...I don't know if I could handle Vegas. Maybe ten years ago...

Alas, perhaps it is not to be.

I refuse to cancel a Vegas trip, I set the date I am going and then do invites. If people go fine, if they dont that is fine as well. I have not yet had to go alone, but I am ready to each time. I wouldnt wait on your buddies, coming from a father that has dealt with newborns and their moms, it wont get anymore convenient for your buddies to go on a vac w/out the wife/kid.

Why on earth would you torture yourself with such a trip? Just go for a long weekend by yourself. Yea, maybe some things you normally do might be out. Head to Vegas in ~140 days knowing that less than 6 months later you will be back. :)

Check the Vegas get-togethers threads. I'm sure you could find something upcoming with some like minded people from this board and make new friends with aligned priorities. Or create your own. :peace:

You should still go! You are never really alone in Vegas, there are always people to chat with and you can always meet people from here who are going at the same time if you wanted to.

Thanks for the feedback, all. You've cheered me up significantly. I think a long weekend around April sounds about right.

To hell with it. I can make new friends!

    Exactly.

Plan the trip and then see if anyone wants to go. If not, plenty of new friends to be made.

I live on the east coast as well. I regularly do 1 nighters but I'm a little bit of a different animal. I'm a Flight Attendant so I don't pay for airfare. So if I find a great deal on a hotel room I jet out there....spend the night, and will either jet over to san diego for a day or two, then work my way back home through vegas. Or if I can find a flight directly home I'll do that. Flying on standby can be a giant pain sometimes.

I would love to have my boys go to vegas with me again. I got to do the town with them once about 2 years ago. Now they're so busy with work and children that they say they don't have time or money to go to vegas again. I guess I can see their point. If i paid for airfare I probably wouldn't be able to afford it either.
