I plan on getting married Veteran's Day Weekend, probably Nov.8 thru 12 stay.

Any ideas on place, packages, etc. on the strip?

I've been looking at Cosmo, Aria, or Wynn for stays. I really like the area around Cosmo, PHo, Citycenter best.

We plan on getting the license the day we check in and marry the next day with a few days of fun and relaxing.

We were going to go to the justice here at home but....Vegas is better. Plans fell through having a Caribbean wedding last year (newborn).

I'm kinda mad we didn't get the license earlier this year when we were there already.

I'm looking for frugal but not cheap. Budget between $1500-$2500 including airfare (already found flights for $375 each roundtrip).
    We need pics.

This is all in lieu of doing the ultra-boring JP here so I'm not trying to go all out.

I don't have any ideas to help you, but congratulations on getting married in Vegas and belated congratulations on the newborn!

getting the license takes 10 min, it's no big deal. we had some friends that decided 2 days before our trip that they wanted to get married in Vegas. we landed at 730, got our bags, hit the license place, went to the wedding chapel and were in Le Cirque in time for our 900 reservation. would have been quicker except for Friday evening strip traffic.

First, getting married at one of the hotels on The Strip will still be pretty expensive and most of them are set up for actual wedding parties... so you probably want to go with one of the many wedding chapels in Las Vegas.

Almost all the wedding chapels have a website you can view for pricing and wedding package information and almost every one of them has a la carte pricing where you can either take a preset package of features/options or just pick the ones you want.

You mentioned the license twice as either getting it day before your wedding or wishing you had picked one up earlier - thats not really something to worry about with the chapels: most will have a package where a limo driver comes to your hotel, picks you up, drives you to the Marriage Bureau offices, they'll escort you through the throng of people offering wedding services, explain what you do/where you go to get your license, wait for you, drive you to the chapel and then be your witness for the marriage before driving you back to your hotel (or wherever you want to be dropped off).

As far as costs go they are pretty much standard at most of the chapels:
    - very basic wedding (chapel, music, minister, pictures): $100
    - basic wedding (chapel, music, minister, more pictures plus DVD, witness, flowers may be provided): $150
    - standard wedding (chapel, music, minister, more pictures plus DVD, witness, limo for 1 hour, flowers, ceremony): $200

Those are the basic weddings. After that you can get things in there like photos around the grounds (if they have them), champagne toast, additional ceremonies, flowers, etc. Each step up usually adds $50-100 more per added feature.

Not saying that these are the prices at every chapel in Las Vegas, but they are pretty standard (and have been for about 15 years) for the costs you can expect for basic weddings, and most chapels can handle any requests you might have, just add on to the cost, like getting married by Elvis, Elvis sings at your wedding, special car rental, photographer package for pictures around Las Vegas, etc.

there is a whole forum here dedicated to weddings. I am sure you will find lots of useful info there. I have also heard about wedding wagon, they come to you. There is a thread about that too, pretty neat anyways.

    Congrats :)

You can also have a civil marriage in Vegas - that's what my mom did in 2001. Back then, the magistrate's office was across the street from the license bureau. My husband and I were the witnesses and then we went to have drinks and watch the St Patrick's Day parade downtown:peace:

Then you could hire an independent photographer and do shots wherever you want:thumbsup:

Sometimes I look at vow renewal packages (20th is in 3 years, how did that happen?) I think $1000 to $1500 for the wedding alone should be able to buy you a decent package almost anywhere. Like a chapel or a hotel or whatever. A lot of places will even rent you the whole outfits in case you really want to look the part for the pictures. Not that it matters, in 10 years anybody and everybody's wedding pictures look dorky. I am pro elopement and anti-wedding. All that matters is the commitment itself. Congrats to you and your family. Get yourself to google and start looking at packages. What are you yapping to us for?

Yeah it might even be quicker since I read you can pre-apply, then just give your confirmation number to the express window.

    Marriage License Pre-Application

Wow that's a super low price.

We still plan on doing the Caribbean wedding (renewal) maybe in 2 years and have friends and family.

Lol, I was yapping to you guys cuz this is Vegas Wedding section. I will still do my due diligence. I like using all tools since this is around the corner and people on here are very helpful.

is it just you and fiancee? We got married last month in Vegas. We didn't use a chapel, we did it on the sidewalk in front of the Mirage volcano. We used Las Vegas Wedding Wagon. They were FANTASTIC!! If you don't want a big ceremony look into what they offer. If I had to do it over again I would use them. They have different options on their website.
    Congratulations!

It was just me and her but now there are, so far, about 8 people coming.

Still not a big wedding and we don't want it big.

We want to get married at some type of landmark and take pics at others like Bellagio fountains, atop the Stratosphere , waterfall at Aria, volcano at Mirage, Las Vegas sign, etc.

    Getting to Marriage Bureau

I have not been able to find this package anywhere. Does anyone know the name of the wedding place that provides this?

This seems like only a good deal if you have no car.

Even then, I'd take the Deuce up there.

I just got my marriage license yesterday and I parked a block away for a dollar, walked-in, went to the Internet Window, gave my Pre-Application number (along with our IDs), paid and was out the door.

Thank you. EVERYONE says that when we go out. Last pic I post....

    Everything went extremely well.

    Wedding at Caesars
    then Palazzo (waterfall and garden)
    then Venetian
    then Bellagio (fountain)
    then Las Vegas sign
    then Aria (fountain and waterfall)

I missed getting Bellagio garden and I wanted a different location for the Venetian but overall, it went well.

Everyone wanted to go to PH for buffet afterwards so.....I Grouponed everyone lol. Hell I would've paid for Bachannal at Caesars.

    SUCH a cutie. And I'm not a baby-lover, so that's saying a lot

Glad you got the photos you wanted (mostly) and had a good wedding!
