    My Trip Report

So, just sat at mccarran waiting to board after a week with some great friends (who live in Vegas) so not a full trip report.

Firstly, I'm depressed as hell to be leaving and secondly this won't be a gambling trip report as I only really played a bit of bj and vp.

It will involve tales of Halloween downtown, multiple entree breakfasts at Ellis, discovering bagel mania (you have to try this), a wasted celebrity and an absolute shed load of drinking. Oh, and some hot women as well.

    The departure
My airport pick arrives at 6am UK time and takes me to Manchester Airport. Due to the bad weather we were having my flight to Amsterdam (connection to Vegas) was the only flight that morning with KLM that wasn't cancelled. We left three hours late and the landing had my arsehole so puckered up that it took several beers to unclench it. Doing a left turn for landing on final approach we dropped about 20 feet as well as having terrible turbulence for 10 minutes before that. Due to being three hours late I missed my connection and go re-routed through Detroit. A nice 5 hour addition to my journey. Had to actually run through Detroit airport. Phoned my friends and said I'd probably just crash out on arrival. That went completely out of the window on landing on the strip.

The first night - Monday 28th October
Got a taxi to my buddy's bar after dropping my stuff at Harrah's and having a couple of quick beers and some VP - a little hole in the wall called Davy's locker on Flamingo and S Maryland Parkway - if you like that kind of place just tell whoever is behind the bar you know Ralph from England and they will look after you. I sit down, two fireballs and a pint of vodka and coke are presented to me. I already know where this night is going. Our mate Brittany picks us up in her pimped out caddy and we drive over to Money Plays, my buddy's other bar. We hit it pretty hard here and decide Ellis Island is needed. We have some beers and I get steak and eggs as well as a Denver omelette. Pretty sure they put bourbon in it or something. By this time we are fairly spanked and grabbed a couple of Styrofoam cups from the exit and immediately turn them into microphones. My buddy beatboxes and I sing some Dolly Parton to it. We got a round of applause from people in the car park. Brit drives us back to Harrah's for some bartop VP and a nightcap. She leaves us to it when we tell people she is a stripper. Loudly. At a packed bar. It's 3am now, bear in mind I went out at 11pm and I'm completely bent out of shape already. My buddy goes home and I walk to the room and then decide I forgot to lose enough money so went back to the bar to finish the job I started. Got talking to a couple of hookers - you know they are hookers by the fact that they are drinking tea and say they stay at Embassy Suites. Told them I wasn't looking but they weren't bothered and were happy to talk shit for a while. The barman comped us a load of Jagerbombs and I think they were as wasted as me after a while. There was some flirting that I can't remember and I dragged myself to bed about 6.30am.

    Tuesday 29th October
My friend Tara met me at 11am at the Jack Daniels bar. I was a complete mess so I had a couple of vodka cokes to sober up and we headed downtown.

We went to the Grand and it was good but then we went to Hogs and Heiffers which I thought was called hogs and hookers. Great place, song lyrics such as "I like to talk on the phone while taking a sh*t" are an all time classic. After this we drove back to another friends place on the LV golf course - she lives a few doors down from the Casino film house. Her fella brought home a bottle of RumChata (disgusting but I still drank half a bottle). After this we headed back downtown and lost her car so we had to wander round a few valets to find the f**king thing. Very awkward. These first two days are the boring ones, I'll get interesting in the next post.

I genuinely don't remember this day....oh no, wait. I just got it. I met my boys Tadifa and Anthony (a black guy as awesome as you expect black guys to be). I checked out of Harrah's at 3am the night before as I was staying with Tara and Lindsey and didn't want to get back there to check out. We made it to the self park before I realised I had left my passport and travellers cheques in the room safe. Cue embarrassing conversation at the check in desk. Oh, I forgot to mention. The $20 trick scored me an upgrade from a $17 a night room to a petite suite (basically just a room with a chair).

I'll be honest, all I remember right now is that we got wasted (although this is probably more down to the jetlag), went to the strip and did a couple of 190 octanes, walked around, abused people and ourselves and then went to Hooter's for blackjack. I got a hundy in chips and played $25 a hand until I was up to $600 and then started throwing down $50 a hand until I was down to $350. Cashed out and went to Ellis for the same double breakfast. I was crashing with my boy Tadifa in Meridian Suites behind flamingo for the rest of the week.

I do remember spending a lot of money at the Planet Ho circle bar on Jager and VP.

BTW - I'm going to add a lot more details as I actually remember them. It's all still a bit of a blur right now.

    Halloween - the big tamale
I wake up in a heap on my buddy's sofa with one sock and one leg of my jeans on. Clearly there was an ambitious attempt to de-robe before going horizontal. I'm still half smashed but fearing a hangover I grab a cider out of the fridge and get the boys up. The standard "what the f**k" happened conversation took place while we all showered and then we realised we had actually lost another car. This is starting to get irritating. We actually found it by chance at Ellis Island when we went for breakfast and it's a good job we did as we were convinced it was at the Bellagio self park so we could have wasted a lot of time. Few beers and a strong word with ourselves and we are back in the game. Few more beers and we realise it's not going to go well tonight if we are wasted by 4pm so we head to the strip to get our tourist on. Some of the guys have rooms booked at the Best Western Mardi Gras so we head down there about 6 to get ready and do some pre-gaming. Couple of fireballs, some makeup and we are ready to rock. Outfits include scream, a ripped off face, Carlton Banks, couple of hot police ladies, batgirl, conan the bald barbarian (he forgot his wig) and vanilla ice. I'll ask my buddies if I can post those pics later. Anyway, we head downtown and hit the D - giant jenga, hot women and quadruple drinks set us up for Fremont. We get down there and it is rocking big time. We head into MSS (I think) and some drunk and benevolant guy announces "F**k it, I'm buying 20 coronas, who wants one" and proceeded to hand them out. If that was you, Good man! We nailed a few fireballs in here and then went to Commonwealth where we bumped into a seriously trollied Nicholas Cage and Carrot Top. We didn't get pictures though, they were completely gone. Cage had dreadlocks in so either a new film in the making or lost the rest of his costume.

The upstairs at Commonwealth is great. We chatted up some girls and headed over the road to a long thin bar with a bar on the right hand side. I remember setting something on fire in here but I haven't got a clue what. I just know that we left shortly after and without much say in the matter.

We went back to Mardi Gras, played a bit of VP and decided on breakfast at Ellis. Cue the third double entree meal of the holiday. My buddy fell asleep at the table and we left him there to see how long it would take before they turfed him out. They hadn't after ten minutes and we got bored so we woke him up in the traditional manner of yelling in his face. He enjoyed that very much. We played some BJ and I lost a few hundred because I forgot I was using $25 chips instead of $5 chips. I couldn't face admitting that to my buddies so I just shrugged it off and went for a tactical puke. Think that was it for this night. We ended up going to back to the apartment about 10am so I have clearly lost a couple of hours.

Just reading about being depressed that your trip was over hit me right in the feels. Nothing is worse than a Vegas trip being over with. I feel for ya man.

That being said... Can't wait to read about it

Right....this is going to be a long one - I'm going to possibly write it in stages.

Davey Jones Locker??? I love that place!!! I have some friends that live on Rome St. (right behind it)... kinda of nasty area when the sun goes down. They live in in one condo and rent the other couple out. They go there all the time. I've been in there 6-8 times. Solid "blue collar" type crowd, stiff & inexpensive drinks... lotta fun!!!

Tell people in there you know me! Do you know Renita? Lindsey, Holler and Chris are the bar staff I know. I've been going there since 2010 when I'm in town. Just mention my name when you go in next :)

    What are your friends called?

I probably know them by face, but they will know Chris (also known as holler). I know a lot of people in there. We should try and get a beer together when I am there in April next.

I know Rome Street by the way - I fell over a trashcan down there not four nights ago.
