So, I tried to go over and see the Downtown Grand around 3:00 pm but I was turned away at the door by security. They said come back at 5:00. So I did and it was open! It has that urban sheik feel. I liked the place immediately. They have 2 tables in the high limit room but neither of them were open. They also have some slots in there but I didnt notice which ones. A couple of hosts were in there and chatted me up. They took me up to see a couple of the rooms and I was definitely impressed. Very nice digs that I have seen pics of online already!

I found plenty of 9/6 DDB video poker! Woohoo!! There were several $5 craps tables with standard strip odds of 3,4,5(boo!) I played at a $5 blackjack table that had the standard downtown rules(H17 3 to 2 bj). I asked them to raise the min to $100 so nobody would sit down, and they did, and I got felted for about $3000 in a little over an hour ! Ouch. Dealer was very nice as were the folks in the pit. I was surprised that the place wasn't more crowded. I thought they might be inundated with people checking it out but it did not seem all that busy. I am here for a couple more days if anyone wants me to go over and check something out for them.

Did they have quarter/dollar 9/6 DDB at the bar? And do the bars serve Heineken and J&B Scotch? Not together of course... separately.

That would be like them saying "Hey Squidward... come and see us!"

Ohhh... do they do the "match your players card" thing like the Plaza?

That would be like them saying "SQUIDWARD!... Get your big butt over here!"

Hi Huddler... do you remember whether or not their two-deck blackjack permits DAS?

Thanks for posting. I prefer downtown in Las Vegas over other areas, and I'm definitely interested in this "new" casino (reincarnated Lady Luck).

If you get a chance, I'm curious about:

    1. Video poker selection. How many machines/banks? Full pay? Even at the quarter level? 9/6 JoB or 9/6 BDlx would be awesome.

    2. Bartop video poker? Good? Bad?

    3. When I drink beer, I sometimes like dark beers. I know not everyone else does... but I'm wondering if beers like Guinness or Newcastle are comped when playing.

    4. Players club-- any sign-up promotions? Points for coin-in: same as for slots as VP, or different?

    5. Poker room? (I know, this one is a long-shot...)

If they are rolling with 9/6 Boner Deluxe this will be my new home!

    Thanks for the report Huddler!

Sounds like a good time to be downtwon! Thanks for the report. Does it feel more like a strip property inside, or a dressed up downtown joint?

I was completely hammered by the time I got over there and didnt even check the bar. I will check that out today. As far as the players card, the host brought me one over to my table so not sure what incentive there may be to sign up.. They couldn't print my name on it yet for some reason.

Would love to see pictures of the "Street Craps" and the outdoor gaming area that surrounds it. Supposedly it is craps with 3 dice, rather than one, also called Cee-Lo (not to be confused with Cee-Lo-Green, LOL). I wonder if that game has a minimum, or if it is played with other players, as done on the streets in back alleys across the world :evillaugh

Since when is 9/6 DDB "full pay"? I thought most considered 10/6 the full pay version of DDB. That would have been interesting. Appreciate your report.

Thanks for the report Huddler. If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to know what type of table games they have, outside of the ones that are standard everywhere (BJ, 3 card, etc). Specifically, I'm curious if they have crazy 4 poker, ultimate Texas holdem, or Mississippi stud....thanks!

Looks like it is only 9/6 at the $1 level. I guess that is good for the people okay going in $5 a spin :) Looks like the rest of us need to stick with MSS/Cal/and 4Q

wow that was quick! i checked this AM earlier and didn't see anything listed.

$1 9/6 DDB is nice, but probably not enough to attract my buddies to play there.

I like to play VP at the bar. I've had some good luck at MS, have played at CA (nothing exciting) and at 4 Queens (nothing memorable). Any particular machines to play at 4 Queens? Is there more than one bar? (I've been there but don't recall)
    thanks

    Thanks for the report Huddler!

I'm excited to visit the Downtown Grand but will have to wait till early next year. Thanks for checking the craps tables, 3/4/5 odds... oh well...

On your next visit can you check how many craps tables they have and how many are open at any given time?

Wish I could go to Vegas sooner, dammit! :faint:

Any comment on the cocktail service? Did the slot players seemed to be served swiftly?
