Recently discovered this game, have had some good hits thus far. Love the double-pay for quads, especially 4000 units for A's w/kicker. Anyone else play it? What have been your experiences?

Sounds like fun if you can handle the swings. I might have to try this game out. Thanks for posting!

Do you know where one might find the strategy for this game?

    Its DDB, so same strategy.

Yeah, but it is a completely different pay schedule. With the quads doubled and the SF almost tripled (am I reading that correctly) and everything else staying the same, it would stand to reason that you would want to be more aggressive in trying to get the quads or SF.

You might be right, but I haven't been able to find anything written about the game as far as changes in regular strategy, so I play regular strategy. There's just not much out there about this machine. If you find anything, let me know!

ACMike: Isn't it Super Triple PAY (not PLAY)? * You're clearly playing more than three hands. Wonderful hits - don't you just love those dealt quads?

I've not seen this in a casino, although I play it on videopoker.com. I had set up a user defined game in WinPoker for this, but it was on an old laptop which I have since replaced, so I have to do it over again. My recollection is that you don't make many strategy changes from normal DDB. For example, from a dealt 88866 you would keep the FH, not go for the quad. But I'll have to do some work before I'm sure of that.** -- Lorna

    * I stand corrected. According to videopoker.com, it is indeed Super Triple Play, even though it offers 5-play and 10-play games.

** I haven't found a way in either the old WinPoker or the newer Video Poker for Winners to define a new game where the max coins is 6 rather than 5. With 5 coins, the payout on this game is over 117%, but the 6th coin changes that. But I don't know how to calculate the return on the game, nor do I know if the strategy indicated for 5 coin play would be correct for 6 coin play. Any math geniuses out there?

Was this in Vegas? I havent ever seen a paytable like that. What is it, one extra coin per hand in exchange for the higher payouts?

I'd rather play this than TDB, which is my normal game. I hate only getting 2:1 on my bet for 3OAK but love the variance on the premium 4OAK

Yeah, it's an extra coin per hand for the double quads and the straight flush boost. Variance is close to TDB triple play in actual dollars.

And a rough strategy is below, but I found one glaring error in it for 8/5 DDB, 2 pair is still better than a pair of kings. Other notable changes, open-ended straight flush is better than a straight or a flush. Pairs of 2s-4s is better than 4 to a flush. Break 2s-4s full along with Aces Full. QJT suited is better than QQ or QJ without a flush penalty. Straight flush with 2 gaps better than a sole King or Queen.

Interesting, thanks for that! I will incorporate these strategy changes next time I play.

They have a few of these machines at Harrah's in AC. There are 2 in the non-smoking VP area. You can play $1, $2 or $5 level. Incredibly, they allow you to do 10-play on all levels, even $5, which would be $300/spin. Dealt regular quad at that level would be $25,000. Dealt premium quad would be either $40,000 or $80,000 depending on kicker. Insane. Also saw at Borgata at GN, but only at 5 cent to 25 cent levels.

Haha...yep. The strategy link I linked to assumes 5 coin games, but hey it's free! Good that you noted that though before running to play it. :) And 97.3% is still better than normal 8/5 DDB (96.79%).

Harrah's in Joliet has balls too as seen by this hit earlier this month:

If he hits a 5X or higher dealt multiplier, they are on the hook for a million or more. Chances of dealt royal: 1 in 649,740. Chances of dealt royal with 5X multiplier or higher: 1 in 28,665,000

I checked VPFREE2 and couldn't find the game in Vegas. Anyone seen it? Been playing on videopoker.com and think I would like to try it on this trip if it is in Vegas.

    Thanks

    From videopoker.com:

    http://www.videopoker.com/gamesNearYou/?state=Nevada&game=Super+Triple+Play

Looks like Red Rock and Aliante have the lion's share. But a handful of joints on the strip evidently have it too.

I'll be at Wynn next month. I'm going to try to find it at Venetian.

Of course, sometimes fate smiles upon you and you don't have to think about strategy at all

    Last night at Harrah's (AC).
