Just got back from a four night stay at the Fremont. Here are my perspectives, just in case any of you care!!!

    - There were a lot of people asking for money. Whether it was war veterans, old people, families, they were all over asking for handouts. Never had a problem with them however. Just walked by and nothing was ever said. I did give a lady a couple of bucks as she reminded me of an old friend. (long story)
    - Along with the sympathy people, there were people wearing costumes asking for money for pictures. I mean come on. If you are going to ask for money to have a picture taken, please put some effort into it. A scary mask with a t shirt and jeans is no effort.
    - ABC store next to Golden Gate, 25 oz cans of bud light 2 for 5 bucks!! And you can go into casinos with them.
    - Coney Island at the D, awesome dogs at 3 am. Oh My they were so freaking awesome.
    - The D music didn't seem as loud as last time I was in there. I actually had a conversation with a BJ dealer at 1 am.
    - Played in the Golden Gate High Limit Room and had a great time. Premium alcohol, dealers were great, and a great view of the dealers.
    - Played green chip BJ at El Cortez. Been back for 3 days and already received a letter inviting me back to stay with them and food credits.
-Plaza Sportsbook. Very nice since its remodel. Biggest one in downtown. Not as sparkly as the Golden Nugget, but if you want space, drink tickets for 20 bucks wagered, and great deals at the bar next door, this is your place. Buckets of Miller Lite for 10 bucks!!!! Oh, and Pop Up Pizza is there too.

I for one always enjoy hearing other people's perspective of downtown.
btw, technically against the law to buy beer at ABC (or any other non casino place) and drink it on Fremont. Do they enforce the law? Probably not unless you are falling down drunk or causing a commotion.

There's much confusion over the liquor laws downtown. The law is different for Fremont Street Experience and for Fremont Street East.

Alcohol bought onsite at the Fremont Street Experience is transportable and drinkable as long as you remain under the canopy. However, it's against the law to have that same drink in your hand as you go into the Fremont Street East area.

The reason is Fremont Street Experience is really just an outdoor mall. And, that mall is treated as one big private property. But, on Fremont Street East, you're on public property. And, LV public property alcohol laws do not permit public drinking. Yeah, you'll still see people doing it and the odds are low for getting ticketed if you're behaving - but it's still illegal to drink on a public street or sidewalk in LV.

It's illegal to speed too, you will see hundreds of people walking around drinking.

I think I have to disagree with you on that one. There is a crack down going on these days. Every non casino place that was selling beer under the canopy had signs posted that sited some regulation that it was illegal to consume alcoholic beverages not purchased somewhere with a class X? license. I don't remember the classification. Casino bars were ok, but places like ABC etc were not.

That was two weeks ago up and down Fremont under the canopy and east of the canopy.

I thought someone had posted the law in the other thread that stated it was absolutely legal to drink even on Fremont east. Could've sworn they said those tickets wouldn't hold up in court if challenged.

this is incorrect it is legal to drink under the canopy and NOT under the canopy as long as you have bought from a place that has a "taverners license" which is casinos and casino bars and clubs, but NOT the ABC stores even in the casino

the package stores and the clubs on Fremont east do not have the proper licenses to allow you to purchase there and drink in public.....at the Fremont east clubs you have to drink on the property of the club and the ABC store it is not legal to drink anything purchased there within 1,000 feet of the store, a school, a church or a government building which is pretty much anywhere in downtown Las Vegas

it is legal to drink on Fremont east provided that you purchased the drink from a place that has a taverners license which is the casinos and casino bars and clubs, but not the clubs on Fremont east or the ABC stores or Cstores

there is also no specific law dealing with alcohol that you brought from home

the way the tickets work and why they are unenforceable currently is because there is no location on the ticket to state where the alcohol was purchased so at the end of the day if you get the ticket and fight it you will eventually get off, but that does not mean you will not get the ticket or have to fight the fight

alcohol from clubs without a taverners license can not be removed from the property or drank off of the property

alcohol purchased from a place with a taverners license can be consumed under the canopy AND outside of the canopy......alcohol from the ABC stores or Cstores cannot be consumed with in X number of feet (I believe 1,000) of the store or any other package store, a school, church or government building which is pretty much anywhere downtown

and there is no rule for alcohol from home (bought wherever and taken home then taken from home to downtown)

so as long as you have a clearly identifiable casino drink like one in the big dumbbell glass or one in a plastic cup or one that has a casino logo you should be OK anywhere downtown

if you have a beer can, beer bottle or the like and it was from a casino you are technically OK, but if you are making a fool of yourself and cannot immediately prove it came from a casino bar or club you will most likely get the ticket

at a Fremont east club you will not be allowed to leave with the drink unless the club wants to lose their license

if you have something brought from home or possibly even your hotel room there is no law.....but again if you are making a fool of yourself you will get the ticket

and again the tickets lack a place to notate the point of provision for the beverage which makes them unenforceable....with the possible exception of if you are clearly observed buying at an ABC store or a CStore and opening it in view of a cop and drinking it or if you are seen trying to sneak out of a Fremont east club with a drink and caught

in that case the officer would be able to be an eye witness to your crime VS catching you with a "can of beer" with no knowledge of where you obtained it

so the reality is there laws need a lot of work and unless you are acting like a fool of observed clearly doing something you should not be doing you will be in the clear even if given a ticket and your chances of getting a ticket will be slim to none

    Good info.

In general, most reports indicate cops have been targeting people going way over the line - either bring in cases of beer (etc.) or misbehaving.

I think the speeding analogy someone used is appropriate. Most everyone speeds, but cops go after the reckless ones first.

I think you would be safe thinking they won't be as liberal as the Lady Luck was, especially comps. Those days will never return. I see they have a $11 resort fee, indicating they are part of the new thinking and ever expanding, property income concept.
