Staying at Paris with 2 rooms- questions on charging to room

Hi all,

Getting so excited about our Vegas trip next week. Woot! Anyway, I have one room in my name under my total rewards number where I got better rates than the general public. I also have a room in my husband's name under this total rewards number where he got rates better than general public but not as good as mine. My husband and I are staying in my room and our friends are staying in the room in his name.

I had to book my room with my Harrahs credit card and then his room under his AMEX. When we get there, can we add our friends credit card to his room so they can just charge everything and check out with their own card? Or, do we need to just pay for it on my husband's AMEX and then they write us a check later? I'm sure they would rather charge their own food etc on their card. I was thinking I could add the wife onto my husband's room and they could use her charge card. I'm wondering if you all know.

I feel like this can all get confusing when we are at the pool ordering drinks and lunch that I have to have mine and my husband's food/drink under my name and then our friends' food and drink under my husbands name and he will have to sign for everything. We would rather they be able to sign for themselves esp. if they aren't with us every single second.

They can either provide a credit card at check-in if they are a registered guest, or, if you don't mind a hold on your credit card, they can provide one at check-out to cover the charges.

 

you can add only guest name per room or you will be charge for a 3rd or person in the room.

so yours and one guest otherewise they charge upto 35 $ pper extra person over 2 per room which is standard for vegas.


too make it easier have them pay cash or credit card so theres nothing but the room charge will save some headache.

i do it all the time except im totaly comped so theres a zero charge at check out

 

No one else is registered to either room except me on mine and my husband on his. Couldn't I just add the wife of our friend to my husband's room and have her give them her charge?

I don't mind a hold on our card as there is a $25K limit but would just be easier if they didn't have to pay us back later. I had to put down half the money for both rooms when I booked for some reason and they paid me back for that already so I'm not worried about them not paying us back but still would be easier if they could just charge it all on their card.

 

why not have them pay for eveything as they spend it cash or credit its so much easier than a room charge and no chance of mistakes at the end

 

I suppose I could just do that. That way, at the pool, my husband and I can have our own bill I charge to my room (or use my TR card with my reward credits) and they pay their own. Then, they can just pay me back for their room charge and resort fees after the trip.

 

Your friends wife can check in with your husband and give HER credit card. No problem at all. Do it with family all the time.

 

In a sort of related topic, I had a marketing executive assist me in booking some rooms at THEhotel for myself under my account and an extra room for my mother under her account. My mom and sister will be using that room and I had both of them as registered guests due not being sure which will arrive first. I wanted to pay for uncomped portion of her room so the marketing executive was able to list me as authorized to pay charges on her room without being a registered guest of the room. (I'll be arriving after her and leaving before her, so it's not as if I could have left my CC on file at check-in, or cleared the charges at check-out).

 

Well, I don't want to get to into what I'm doing with the casino desk clerk. Obviously, the reservation people know I have a room under me and one under my spouse but I'm not sure they would be thrilled that we have someone else staying in the second room. I didn't exactly tell them what I was doing though I'm sure they know. I don't know how far I want to get into it with them, ya know?

 

It does not matter that you have one room for her, and one for you. They could give a rats a$$ who is staying in what room. Maybe you are swingers. Maybe you are separated. Maybe you do not like each other. Maybe you are... Maybe the guys want one room, and the ladies want another room. Maybe you snore too much and need the other room.

They do not care at all.

Did I mention that they do not care. They have seen it all. They just want to know who gets what keys and who is gonna pay. Actually, they don't care who gets what keys.

And by the way, the reservation people have no clue you each have a room unless somebody takes the time to look. They have THOUSANDS of rooms and just try to get through the day.

 

Well, if that's the case, I would rather just have my friend put on the other room and use their credit card to pay for their room and anything they want to put on their room. I suppose I will just ask them when we get there! Thank you!

 

Room A is in your name
Room B is in her name

Leave that part alone. After all, they are not giving your friends a free room.

You are making this more complicated than you need to.

Room A is in your name, plus a guest if you want. You can just leave it as one person for that matter.

Room B is in her name, but your friends are staying there. She needs to check in, but can add your friend to the registration, and use his charge card. Done. Simple. Easy.

(or the other way around)

And, don't be asking anything. Just check in and move along. Ask enough questions and eventually you will get a "NO" for an answer.

 

When your husband goes to check in, either of your friends should be there with him to add their name to the room. Have your husband tell the check in person that you want to change the card on file to your friend's credit card.

Viola! Your friend's are now responsible for the bill on that room.

By the way, if you want a KING in that 2nd room vs2 Queens, you might not want to have two males, or two females doing the checkin.

OKAY - Let me correct that. Forgot it was 2013 and anything goes. ---- LOL!

 

This is not the case. Room A is in my name. Room B is in my husband's name. What I will do is what everyone else suggested- check into my own room and then have my husband check into Room B with my friends wife and have her added to the room with her credit card. Thanks!

 

What you are suggesting above is exactly what I would do. And, exactly what I was suggesting.

Husband in Room A or Room B
or Room B and Room A - same thing - these were just examples. You can call them room 1 and room 2 or 8 or 9 whatever. Bottom line is you have one room, he has another.

Have one of your friends check in with either you or your husband - same thing.

 

Sitting on the plane ready to leave. Woot!! I heard I get an automatic upgrade since I'm platinum but I assume I need to ask for it ever so kindly. What should I try to get? Like maybe I give them $20 too. Do u think we could get a suite? What room types are they called? So excited!!

 

Since there are so many suites... they have a committee that decides which PLAYERS get them. Do others get them for no apparent reason? Sometimes.
