I also read an article that was posted by Fox 8 news...it said the shooter was denied entry to Drai's and then shot 3 hosts. one did not survive. I am going there on Thursday. This story makes me very sad.

I know it's pretty lax out there in the "wild, wild west" but I'd think that many would be all for metal detectors in any club venue like that. Of course that doesn't stop some crazy from going out to his car's glovebox, getting a gun and coming back.

I never felt unsafe living in Vegas, but I was always aware of my surroundings. Nothing you can do about a guy shooting up a club, aware or not.

This data is only through 2011, but face it, Vegas leads the national average in almost every crime rate stat.

I'm sure if you compared big cities to Vegas it would make Vegas seem not that bad.

From what has been posted so far the shooting was not in the club but in the casino area leading to Drai's. That makes it far worse knowing it occurred in the area of the casino floor and not in the nightclub. All I can say is wow, knowing when I stay at Bally's I like to gamble that early in the morning and we were penciled in to be there this week.

Old data, but no reason to think it has changed.

I'm not knocking Vegas. We lived there for a couple of years and still vacation there 5-6 times per year.

This is a stupid question but isn't Drai's at Bills? Did they move it to Bally when they gutted Bills?

I don't understand why they put Drai's in a place like Ballys anyway. It doesn't seem like the type of place that would blend with the clientele Ballys has.

I'll be staying there on a solo trip in Dec. and my family is already freaking out texting me about it.

After this I hope they shut it down.

According to the news, the guy wanted a refund after he deemed the club too slow. Management refused, and shooting started.

I was never comfortable being around the Drai's crowd, whether it was gambling at Bills at 3AM as they were going in or eating in the Victorian Room at 7AM as they were coming out. How awful that this happened, especially for the person who lost their life. I hope they shut the place down.

This is not correct according to the press conference held by John Sheahan. He stated the patron gained entry by paying cover, then asked for and was denied a refund. When denied, he became violent.

The whole thing is sad, and I hope the injured are okay.

Let's take a breath and wait for information to come out before we panic and make judgements about what happened.

    Thanks!

Have to feel for the families of the staff who have been injured and the guy who has been killed, guess he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

when I posted this is was an update before the press conference. So no I didn't have all the info, I was more or less posting the additional person getting shot. Word is the person killed was a comedian at Harrahs, but not confirmed yet

    It's all over the place

Not just in Vegas or AC .Over the weekend a 24 year old was killed in a riot at a party at a bowling alley near Rutgers at 1am. The guy was beat to death with a bowling ball. They say nothing good happens after midnight and I know people like to party all night esp. in destinations like Vegas ,but this stuff is gonna happen.
