How is the Madison Ave room at NY NY?

My upcoming trip next month has to be split between two hotels due to random high weekend rates in most of the mid tier hotels. I can actually get Cosmo (due to their 50% off promo) for less than PHo, Paris. Mirage and PHo cost more than Venetian/Palazzo for example..strange occupancy weekend.

I am doing my first 2 nights at MGM, and got a great deal for 2 nights in a Madison Ave room at NY NY (free upgrade to the Madison Ave). My last two trips have been at Cosmo. I love it, but I like change and I also enjoy a place that is a little more casual. I have never stayed on the south strip but enjoy hanging out in MGM and NY NY (especially for a winter trip).

My issue is that my Sunday flight is at around 730PM. I would pick Cosmo without question if I had an earlier flight but Cosmo has been ultra stingy on late checkouts. I have never gotten beyond the courtesy noon and told it would be essentially rack rate to stay until 6PM (who you crappin' Cosmo?).

With NY NY I can do the 3PM late check out for $20, or pay $55 plus tax/resort fee for an extra night to just know I have the room until flight time which is kind of nice. I hate having to leave the room and wander for 6 hours (and no pools to lay around).

What do you guys think? Has anyone stayed in the Madison Ave room before? Better than the Park Ave? or would you rather go with Cosmo (about $150 more total for the 2 nights) and give me a tip on how to get a late check out at that place without gambling my life away.

I do have Marriott Elite Silver ...but I am not sure if they offer the late check out perk to Silver Elite (maybe just gold/platinum tier?)

Thank you for your advice as always VMB world! :nworthy::nworthy:

I thought the Madison Room was the newer version of the Park Ave room.
Those rooms are small and the bathroom is the basic.
Shower, crapper and sink in a little box.
With that said it was fine for us a few trips as we just need a place to crash.
The bathroom does make it a bit cumbersome when both of us are getting ready.

Yeah it is just a renovated Park Ave I believe. The price was much less than other promos WITH a Park Ave so I booked it to be safe. The bathroom does seem pretty darn small, and my girlfriend is not a huge fan of small bathrooms.

Just not a fan of having to check out at noon and linger until 7

I think the Madison rooms are also slightly bigger. Funny thing I'd I prefer park ave and Madison rooms over the spa suite. If you're only expecting a basic room, you'll be fine.

Madison rooms are the 'updated' Park Avenue rooms from about 2 years ago. When the Bellagio updated their rooms, they sent their (old) beds to NYNY.

I know this as a fact, since I was caught lying on about 4 mattresses stacked high when they were transferring them - I asked the guy about them and he said that they were meant for the Madison rooms (the location of my 'lie down' - the open parking lot between MC and NYNY - which is now being made into their 'park') - boy, I love booze-soaked mornings!!!

The last Madison room I stayed in was a corner one - it had windows on two sides, and was much larger than a regular Park Avenue. Bathroom was larger as well. The Spa Suite room I think is smaller that this one. I think it is worth a few bucks more - if you value more space.

Dooner how do you like staying at NY NY? I enjoying hanging out there as a pass through but how is it as a home base? Which of the food options are worthy or should be passed up?

    Just like casual eats

Like any property, I think the amount of fun and gambling success is part of the equation, so biases are quite prevalent.

With that said, NYNY has been my home base for about 6 years. Yes, there are better accomodations, and better locations, however, it has served me well for many years.

The personal experiences with dealers, pit bosses and cocktail waitresses has me sold - and that is the main reason for staying there. I generally start in the am with drinks and slots, then over to Pai Gow table until late afternoon - then out the strip for more debauchery (and poker later).

Eats - mine are not too picky - I've had nosh every place - nothing overly fancy, just solid choices and medium prices. That's the whole catch - nothing is run-down, but nothing fancy-schmancy - just fun people having a good time. (I actually like America restaurant - the room service provider).

As an ode to NYNY, I haven't had much success there gambling, however, they keep my patronage by providing great service and customer happiness! (not to mention, a whole lot of comps - that doesn't hurt!)

Thanks Dooner. If you do not mind me asking, does it take a considerable amount of play to get offers from NY NY?

Also - if anyone has any experience at Cosmopolitan and having Marriott Silver Elite, do they honor the priority late check out perk?

Yeah the I think what I didn't like about the spa suite is it make the room much smaller and it's kind of strange having the hot tub in the room next to the bed (the marquis suite solves this problem a bit), but I think I feel cheated when the name "suite" is in the title to get that room. (It also didn't help that in this week we stayed there, the spa suite came last after a 1-bedroom tower suite at The Mirage and panoramic corner suite at Aria.

I read some threads about people getting random NYNY offers after not having played there for years - NYNY must have gone back in their records and tried to bate some players to return and get a chance.

As far as my play - I am about a $75 average/hand player at Pai Gow - sometimes going down to about $60 (and up to $100 at times). With about the standard 4 hrs/day play, I get offers of 3 comp nights and $100 - $200 free play. Summers, when they are slower - some suites are thrown in.

My friend is more of a $35/hand Pai Gow Poker player and he gets 2 comp rooms weekdays (and some weekends) with $50ish free play.

If you concentrate your play at one particular MGM property, then they give out casino-specific offers now (unlike a few years back, when they had offers across the whole MGM line up and I stayed at other properties).

So, bottom line, my opinion is that if you spend a couple of good sessions for a couple days, they are quite generous with comps. I don't play too many slots, though, so can't help you with that. (Years ago, I played larger, and had a host for play, but now only use VIP services).

I used an offer from NYNY back in August. I had never played there before.

We've been staying at NYNY, twice a year for about 10 years. We're very comfortable there. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the room is not spacious but then I don't need space - I need a clean, comfortable room. The staff are great, there's a good selection of restaurants for every taste and budget. They have a variety of slots and table games and we play both.

We aren't big gamblers but I'd say between the two of us, we budget about $300 a day for gambling. I like to mix it up by playing some slots, Pai Gow Poker and 3 card poker but my husband is strictly table games - pai gow, craps and some blackjack.

We've booked to return to NYNY in November and we're using comps. Both my husband and I each have our own players card so we each get an offer that we can use consecutively. So we we're going for 5 nights and have 4 nights comped ( 2 nights each), 20 % off three restaurants and $50 in freeplay.

On two occasions, we were taking the red eye home and we arranged for a late check out and were really glad we did. On our last night, we stayed up late trying to get in as much Vegas time as we could, then up early to shop and play some more. By lunchtime I was exhausted and was glad we still had a room to relax in.
