Hey I am planning my first trip to Vegas and am looking at Planet Hollywood. Anyone else stay here before, and is it a nice hotel? Would like an experienced insiders opinion. We are going down there to party, and take in the night life so we aren't looking for relaxing atmosphere

lots of times. Caters for a younger crowd, loud music everywhere, female dealers wearing not too much in the Pleasure Pit. You'll be fine.

I have actually more or less stopped staying there for the above reasons though (although I will be there in December for a couple of days).

Excellent, great to know! We are not really that big into gambling, it's more the music, drinks and entertainment we are going for

Just to echo everyone else, it's the perfect choice. Great location, great vibe, not so big you get lost every five minutes. Just make sure you remember whether you are nearest to north or south elevators. I can't tell you how many times I have staggered into the wrong one blind drunk and had to stagger the length of the hotel when I got off.

The rooms (and pool) are awful, but the description in other posts about the casino and atmosphere are spot on. As long as you don't plan to spend much time in the room, you are good

We didnt gamble an hour a day! We were too busy. We went in June and were so tied up in sightseeing we didnt even hit the pool. I dont think the rooms are bad at all for a party place, ours was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was huge which is great for getting ready w a high maintenance female like my ex wife was. There is a great party vibe always in the casino! The concierge was great and made some excellent suggestions and reservations for us. He set us up with seeing Mystere' and dinner over looking the Bellagio fountains. Not bad for first timers!!

I was pretty happy with my resort king room a couple of years ago, although I hear the hollywood hip rooms are a bit more like hell holes.

To me, the vibe at PH is like a high school weekend party when the parents are out of town. I prefer the vibe at Cosmo...its like a huge martini bar...everything is pleasing to the eyes and the drinks are far better than PH. If I was in my early twenties, I would probably like PH more.

I've been tempted to stay there...but the pool looked only ok.

If you are not going during pool season then it could be fun.

The rooms have got mixed reviews...my guess is because they are more expensive than, say the Flamingo and likely close to the same niceness.

Go on youtube and check room videos..its a great way to get a sneak peak - just make sure the room you are viewing in in the category you are looking at (sometimes the people filming them say that they are category _____, and say the wrong thing). So check out the room pics from the Planet Hollywood website, and then when you see the videos you will know if they are showing the right room.

This sounds horrible, but rooms mean nothing to me, as I will be spending next to no time in there I will be too busy exploring the strip as it's my first time to Vegas before.

I don't think the rooms are horrible. They are okay. Just don't get one next to the elevator or you'll hear it running up and down the walls all night like a subway train. :)

There is nothing wrong with that attitude. But then the question to ask yourself is why not stay at a cheaper propperty?

Some people like the feeling of staying at a property - so you might like the feeling of PH...but those are all common areas that anyone can visit. Some people like to stay at a certain place because they want to feel as if their home base has the feel that they are going for, regardless of the room.

If you just want to experience PH ask yourself the question, 'Must I stay here to feel like I got the experience?' Sometimes I have answered that with a 'yes' other times with a 'no'.

wow really? Which rooms did you stay at and what was bad about it?

I've stayed at PH at least a dozen times the last 2-3 years.
I called it my home base for awhile around 2010-2012. I would say PH rooms are on the top end of the chain as far as value and quality. Its not the best of the best, but its not subpar or even average IMO.

The whole PH property is decent too. It all depends on what youre comparing it too. I would say Aria reg rooms are 9/10. Considering the amenities, how new it is and cleanliness.
Here's comparison just to get an idea.

    Cosmo 9/10
    PH 8/10
    Palazzo 9/10
    Ballys 6/10
    Flamingo(go room) 7/10
    Imperial Palace(quad) 4/10

I think awful is too far of a stretch of a word for what PH really is. :p

It has a ton of positive and negatives.

    Positive

    1. Best location the strip, this is worth a lot
    2. Easy access to Cosmo.. CityCenter, Paris, Bellagio, Aria (all have popular nightclubs)
    3. Shopping
    4. Earl of Sandwich and BURGR!

    Negatives

    1. Rooms are outdated, and very small, it's not terrible though... I don't know why people are saying that?
    2. I've noticed slightly shotty housekeeping and maintenance in the property, but nothing too bad.
    3. Bar none the worst parking situation on the strip, you have to walk through the entire mall to get to self-park. You MUST valet if you have a car.
    4. Besides Earl of Sandwich and BURGR I haven't been fond of any of their other dining options.
    5. You said you want to party, but their nightclub closed... but, easy access to Cosmo which has the most popular nightclub.

Bottom line, it's right in the middle, yes, there are better rooms for the money, but there are worse... but their location is worth a lot! I'd go for it, you will be happy! I don't agree with the "i'm not gonna be in my room so I'm gonna stay at a dump" No. You still will sleep, shower.. I still want a nice clean room to come back to especially if I'm partying! Besides PH is a relatively good deal.

Rooms are fine. Can be a bit on the dark side, but clean and comfortable and nice enough bathrooms.

Parking can be a nightmare. Always Valet park - except if you are checking out on a Sunday and have a flight to catch. You can easily wait more than an hour for the car to come back.
