Have read and heard GREAT things about Andiamo at the D, though I've yet to personally experience. I've enjoyed many a good meal at Chart House (Nugget). I also haven't eaten at the places you reference for the Four Queens, but LOVE Hugo's there!

Andiamos is the best restaurant DT. Surprisingly not that pricey for what you get.

Great job in researching all the great places to dine! Enjoy! All of my favorites are on your list.

On a more casual note you might consider Aloha Specialties on the mezzanine bridge between the Cal and MSS. Lots of 50th State local dishes that might catch your fancy.

Also the Cal Club downstairs at the Cal by the craps tables. Simple diner-type foods like burgers and fries and they make a killer Steak Stir-Fry.

Both places above have limited outside seating but they offer take-out too.

There's a Lanai Express at Fremont but their foods sometimes suck, lol! (cheap, though...)

RE: El Cortez - I think the $8 Prime Rib is in the Cafe Cortez only - not in The Flame. The Prime Rib in the Flame is much more expensive. But it is REALLY good. Even better if you've got MRB or ACG coupons to use for 50% discount.

    Cheers,
    Kelly

How is Andiamo for eating at the bar? I'm looking for a solo DT steakhouse.

Can someone post exactly where (at California) and when the Ox Tail Stew is available?

Market Street Cafe - but it is only a graveyard special. I have never had it but this is what I have heard. Maybe 11PM until sunrise-ish?

According to The Cal website, the Oxtail Stew is available nightly from 11 pm to 9 am. However, it also is one of the Market Street Cafe $7.95 daily specials on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 am to 11 pm.

I dont think the Stew is what is popular. It is the soup. Per the website

"The oxtail soup is served from 11:00pm - 9:00am"

I think it is only available late night, but from what I hear someone mentioned that it is possible to get it at Aloha Specialties? That will need a confirmation..

Hard to believe the soup could be that much better than the daily special stew.
    The stew was GREAT.

Just want to point out at Pasta Pirate, Redwood, Second St, Hugo's and Binion's all the sides are included with the meal.

I know at Flame, Andiamo, Oscars & Chart House they are not.

When looking at pricing, just something to consider. At least for me it is.

Both the Hotdog and the fries at Mermaids are $1.25 each, not $.99
They are a good deal at $1.25 too.....I can never finish all the fries.
Fremont Seafood buffet is $19.99 not $15.99
I would imagine quite a few prices are wrong on this list

    Thanks Foos!

Thanks Foos for the price update... sorry for the seafood buffet price mistake. I tried to pick the prices up from their current websites, etc... but it's possible I picked that price up from last year's list or even read it wrong without my glasses!... Mermaids... I could not find prices online, but am not surprised it has gone up... everything at the grocery has... so why not Mermaids'
    ---
I am really looking forward to some good food on my vacation. We usually eat a nice breakfast... get something really small and light for lunch or snack... and have an early dinner at a nice restaurant... it's usually less crowded at the earlier times. I even have made a list of snack and light lunch specials.
    ---
To me half the fun of going to Vegas is researching what I want to do by reading this and other websites... I get to enjoy my vacation from when I start researching tentative plans until I leave for the airport ... just 67 more days!!!

    Great Thread!!

This thread is 1 of the best ever....for me...I wonder if there is some way to make it a sticky...with updates and additions!!!
Same with a downtown gambling(gaming) thread that consolidates info. It could be broken down like; $3 blackjack with rules and casino's ID'd, 5 dollar bj, nickel VP, quarter VP, quarter VP bartop, craps minimums....etc. etc.
I was able to print off the first post here at 50% size for my wallet "crib" notes. Only getting to Vegas once a year....this is very helpful!!
Maybe another 1 with Hotels, amenities, prices (with resort fees), where to book, +'s and -'s...etc
I realize all this info is here, but it would be so helpful to consolidate for us part-timers!!!
Thanks all who contribute and help MAKE our trips!!

    Downtown Eats

At Binions Café they also have a couple of good specials: Ham & Beans and Beef Stew ( both were available last visit two months ago).
