Greetings savy downtown dwellers. We've stayed at other properties. Can you give any advice about this place? Room location etc.

I stay at the Fremont. I usually choose a room that is located pretty much straght above the registration desk. In other words I usually ask for a room facing Casino Center, and back away from Fremont street. I also prefer a low floor number. The elevators are never a problem, but since there really is no view to speak of anyway, a low floor is just a quicker ride. A lot of people complain about the small rooms but for me (a solo traveler), the rooms are just the right size.

I stayed here with my sister, and although the room/bathroom are small, its totally functional. Two women had no problem sharing. I think the rooms are actually pretty cute with nice touches.

When staying downtown, you have every casino at your fingertips, so you can stay at one place and easily gamble at another. Good Luck and enjoy your stay!

Wait until you see the size of the bathroom sink ... just a little larger than the sink in an airplane bathroom.

As others have mentioned the rooms/bathrooms are pretty small. We've only stayed there a few times but they've always been clean and comfortable with decent furnishings that you'd expect from a solid 3 star joint. I don't think there's any difference in the standard rooms other than two queens vs king? If late night noise bothers you just ask for a room away from the Fremont Street Experience and the desk clerk should be able to accommodate you. For Gambling if you get a Boyd's B Connected Card you can play Downtown at either The Fremont, California, or Main Street Station and earn comps towards food/room. All of the Boyd properties offer good odds/low minimums on Card Tables and Video Poker. I don't play slots much so can't speak to those.

The cafe in Fremont is pretty good but if you want to do a Buffet I'd recommend walking to the Main Street Station as it seems to have a better selection. Hope you have a great trip and be sure and say hello to the $700 I left there on my last visit:cry:

I will be there this Thursday. I have always stayed on the Strip for the last 20 years, but last year, we stayed at the Fremont. Yes the bathrooms are small (I'm 6 ft 280lbs) but could do what I had to do just fine. Also, very nice bed. After the stay last year, we decided to come back again this year. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, food is OK, but I really like that if you are having bad luck at one place, you can be in another in less than 5 minutes. Try doing that when your stuck in the Mirage or Aria.
