I read that they tore this down?! I loved this casino for some reason. This is where I won my first "big money"... $300 on my first spin on my 21st birthday. How sad.

I fully realize I could have utilized the search option, I have just had a rough day. I am feeling lazy.

Give me a break, just this once? ;)

I was just joking around :peace:

it was just funny though because this is the second very recent thread asking if it is being torn down when it has been being renovated for a while now :evillaugh

CET might need to investigate how well they are doing really getting the word out about this "upgrade"

From what I saw there in July I would question April of what year. I'll be back there in a little more than a week and grab a few pics. From what I've seen so far though it's just a steel skeleton at this time.

I had a nice run there too one day..way back....i was already well up on my trip... on the last day i wasn't going to give it all back so i went in there for a $2 or $3 Blackjack table and capped off my trip with another $300 .. not bad for a $20 investment... I'll miss that joint!

I read a travel article where they were describing Bills before closing and what the place is going to be like after the renovations. It was best described as going to be very scaled down version of Cosmo.

I don't like this. I loved Bills for the simple fact that it wasn't ritzy or upscale, it was just a kick back place to get cheap drinks and gamble. That place will always hold a special place in my heart! After I won that first $300 I was addicted!! lol.

More than anything I'm going to miss the Karoeke (the first place I ever sang it) and the 2 for $10 pitchers. Yes, it wasn't the nicest of places but it was that great, cheap entertainment that I find necessary once a Vegas trip. With no O'Sheas or Bills for my trip next week, I don't know at all where to spend that night. Maybe downtown...

Bill's was always my favorite 'dive' place to gamble on the strip when one couldn't go downtown.

I think so too and I bet it will be cool. Both the Gansevoorts near me are small boutique nightlife focused hotels. The entire hotel is basically a hip lounge. This one in Vegas will have a casino too. It's basically the vibe Cosmo tries to go for but isn't really financially viable for a 3000 room hotel. It'll work for a small place like this though.

Even though I think I will like this place, I will miss Bills/Barbary Coast. It felt like the kind of casino I could imagine fitting in on Bourbon St during Mardi Gras. Just small, casual, and hyper lively full of good times.

No, you're not the only one. The place will look awesome once it's done. The Ganesvoort compared to Bill's will clean up the corner of Flamingo/Vegas Blvd which used to be home to homeless people, crazies, etc. I doubt that will happen once it's finished. Sure, there will be drunk, rich, LA people, but that's better than drunk homeless people at the corner.......why? Because drunk rich LA folks spend their money inside the casino, that's the whole purpose of Ganesvoort.
I used to walk back to Bally's from points north on the Strip by entering Barbary Coast/Bill's hotel and exiting where the escalators where, i always avoided the perpetual nonsense on the corner.
