i was playing baccarrat at aria for the last few days ,first i over heard a conversations about ratings so i asked a specific question as this is what was told.

they say a shoe takes around an hour to play ,they figure 60 to 80 hands per shoe.
if you sit out the will mark you as a partial shoe as they have a floor person watching.
so if you sit out half the shoe you will only get a half hour of play time.

ps they said bj will rate higher than baccarat for comps.

hope i put this in the right section

In bacc, one shoe = 1 hour. BJ does not rate higher as the theo is lower. I have gone over this extensively with my host.

At Aria, they also review all the hands played in the high limit room. So they know down to the hand how much you have played and adjust your theo accordingly

the key is this is all up to pit boss discretion. if you sit out just a few hands, they will still mark you for 1 hour for the shoe. yes, if you sit out half the hands, you will only get partial credit. however, how they determine the avg bet is so subjective. they take notes of your bets at the top of the rating sheet as you play. when you change your bet level or every few minutes, they write down a new number or the same number if you're flat betting. at the end they look through the notes and come up with an "average". if you schmooze them, you can usually get them to inflate that average. also, if you play only part of a shoe, you can often get them to be generous with the time played.

for example, last night I played mostly 5k with some 10k. I played about 2/3 a shoe. at the end I talked to him and he was going to give me 7500 avg bet for 45 minutes. that was already generous, but I said, how about an hour. he looks at the shoe and says, ok, an hour. so I really should have been more like 6k avg for 40 minutes and instead got 7500 avg for 1 hr. in terms of comps, that's an additional 88% in theo just for being nice and asking. in terms of hard dollars that's maybe $1000 or more in extra comps for the exact same play. totally worth it to be nice and check on your rating every time you play.

At Fallsview Casino, they Rate you by your Average bet Vs. time spent.
when you leave table, they clock you out. and another supervisor will clock you in when you sit at the next table.

Keep in mind there is only a 1% vig when rating baccarat in comparison to BJ being 2.75 vig.

Overall, The Streaks are better in Baccarat compared to many other games.

That is why I get absolutely NOTHING except funny rude looks especially from other players. I bet. I get my three straight wins. I pay my commission. I tip. Then color out and RUUUUUUNNNNN like Forrest Gump to the cashier. In most cases I am not going to bother giving them my MLife card. Don't care about theo. Don't care about my play time. Only thing I care about is I get my black action chips and disappear. I don't want to be remembered. I definitely don't want to be known. I am nothing. I am not a delicate snowflake but a very forgettable calm euphoric Hindu cow. Don't want to hee haw with the pikering dickish casino crap in trying to over stay my own welcome.

Given that baccarat has much better odds than most casino games the rating on this game is going to be low. Unless I am someone who gets invited to Encore's Sky Casino (which is not happening soon) my plays are not going to qualify me much of anything maybe a room discount here and there but no more.

I asked a few supervisors at MGM Grand, Aria and Wynncore in how baccarat is rated and from what they have told me, not going to get me very far unless I am some whale like shifter and a few others who can throw some $5K, $10K, etc a hand for a few hours. That is when the casino folks will bend over backwards for you and meet with you half way or even more. If you have reached this point I bow to ya!

That's a really simplified view of things and it's just not true. I used to play at a much lower level and sure I got less comps but I still was well taken care of. Yes if you just sit down and play 3 bets at the black level and leave you're not going to get anything. But if you're putting time in at the tables every trip, you absolutely can be well taken care of at the black level and definitely at the purple level. If you're not giving your card you're leaving money on the table literally.

Vig? There's a vig on BJ? Do you mean house advantage? If so, your numbers are way off, unless the player is either awful at BJ or playing a game with ridiculous house rules

That info is simply incorrect. I would ask who told you this at Aria or MGM, but I doubt the veracity of the statement, so I won't. When I played black chips at those properties, I got a comped room and some free food. When I moved up to purple chips, I got a small suite and all the food and drinks I could eat. When I graduated to yellow chips, I started getting pretty much anything I wanted (not Nate level stuff, but free multi bedroom suites, great food and drinks, spa treatments, show tickets for me and all my friends, tables at clubs, cabanas, etc). And I have never had a trip where my average bet approached $5k, let alone $10k, per hand (biggest avg bet I have ever had for a trip was $2900 per hand).

I won't pretend to know everything about comps (or any vegas subject for that matter). Sometimes people post information on these boards that, based on my personal experience, I am skeptical to believe, but this information is just plain wrong. To suggest that you won't "get very far" with comps in baccarat unless you are betting $5k per hand is just not a statement based on any reality. If someone at MGM or Aria actually told you that, they were pulling your leg. So please don't post it on here as fact

Agreed. At an mgm property, $25 a hand will get you, at least, some express comps to use later. When the poster stated that you won't get very far unless you're betting flag chips, I thought he meant significant primary comps. Guess it depends on what he meant by not getting very far, but to me, free suites, food, drinks, show tickets, spa and parties are nothing to sneeze at and I've never had a trip where my starting unit was a flag

LOL. Gosh I LOVE the animosity and the folks' constant need to be right. Thanks for the information and the inside tip. I don't really care about comps. Just be interesting to know how you folks get them since I get nuttin'. I care about getting my chips and getting the hell out of the table I am playing as soon as possible. Don't think it would be a good idea for me to expose my bankroll for long periods of time in hopes the casino throw a few table scraps at yours truly.

I don't think there is any animosity. I truly wish you the best and actually agree with your sentiment that people shouldn't play for comps.

At the same, I would just hate for a new player to read your post about comps and think it is in any way based on reality. Its simply not. You're either making up these stories or exaggerating them (maybe I would believe one floor person pulled your leg and exaggerated to you what it takes to get comps at his hotel, but you've stated that persons at Wynn, MGM, and Aria all told you you have to bet at least $5k a hand to get comps; that's simply not true).

If you don't care about comps, why are you even asking persons at multiple hotels what the minimum wager is to get a certain level of comps???

You ask, then answer your own question.

    - Even if you were betting $5k or $10k per bet, if all you do is "hit and run", you will never get any comps.
    - If you play a couple hundred per bet and play for 4 hours per day, you will get nice comps (not scraps, I assure you).

I encourage you to continue to gamble the way that is most fun (and hopefully profitable!) for you and forget about comps. :peace:

UKFanatic..... LOL..... Don't know even how to respond.
Thank you for taking my post out of context in more ways than one. LOL.
Who said about having to bet $5K... $10K a hand to qualify????

Back then which was around 2010/2011 when I finally went full throttle in Vegas, I was learning everything I can about the casino scene/industry. Especially the fact that I upgraded myself to $100 flat betting I was just getting room discounts when I was playing five to eight hours a day. While my buddy who was playing slots with his $500/$600 for hours at the slots was getting free rooms. After a while I just said screw it and just focused about developing my menal-A game and playing correctly. The question was asked on that very one trip on the very same day. I got some answers and they all lead to that I had to be some whale or speak with a host.

At least jdvegas gets it and gave a straight forward answer.

That is your quote. What, exactly, did I take out of context? If I did, I will correct my earlier posts. I think, perhaps, you got a bit carried away and are either exaggerating what the persons at those three hotels told you or, perhaps, it was a typo and you meant to say $500 or $1000 (not $5k and $10k). I don't think quoting you is taking you out of context. And if you simply made a mistake, no big deal, we all make them. But own up to it and correct your post.

And as I wrote earlier, there is no animosity on my part. I would just hate to see a less experienced gambler read your post and believe they have to start betting flags before they get any decent comps. This is not a question of different posters having somewhat different experiences at the same properties. Simply put, your statement is entirely inaccurate and I can base that on my experience, the stated experiences of many other posters on these boards who write about their comps without betting $5k per hand, and the experiences of several personal friends that I have observed betting far below $5k per hand, yet still get plenty of comps.

I didn't respond to your question about how to get more comps because I honestly thought it was a facetious question. You've expressed on this thread and at least one other baccarat thread that you're not interested in comps (which I emphasized I think is a good outlook when gambling). But if you were serious about wanting to know how you can get more comps, I suggest reviewing the comps sticky at the top of the comps board. It has all the basics about how to maximize your comps. Its a good read for all members of the Board
