We (My son and I) have a ritual that we follow each and every time we come to Vegas,

Fly into Vegas, pick up luggage, pick up our Rental car and then head right over to In and Out Burger, No matter what time we get into Vegas (Unless they are closed which has ever happened to us) Why In and out? Because we here in Washington state don't have one here. After living most of our lives in So Cal and moving to Washington state it's the one thing we miss the most. To make things worst we always order the same thing Four Double Doubles (grilled onions/ no tomatoes) two Fries and two Cokes. After filling our self's , then an and only then are we ready to go and check into our rooms and start the Fun !

Just wondering what other peoples rituals were !

    We have several:

    1. Our gambling stake gets rubbed over all the cats for good luck before we leave. They are very used to it by now, but Brindle still tries to bite the bills as I rub them over her back.

    2. We count VW Beetles on the way up. The number spotted between home and the hotel becomes the "lucky number" for the trip.

    3. First meal is either Studio B or Grimaldi's.

    4. Pre-gambling drink in the room with appropriate toast.

    5. If we are playing in a slot tournament, the person mashing the button that session will carry a Hot Wheels© Beetle in their pocket.

The first morning, I always order room service and watch football (or basketball or NASCAR, if it's not FB season), eat breakfast and drink coffee in the Wynn robe all morning. I always arrive on a Friday or Saturday, so there's always some sporting event on the next morning.

I also always make myself a ridiculously expensive cocktail from the minibar as soon as I'm unpacked. I'll sip on it and enjoy the view (even a shitty view is still a view of Vegas...and not my office!) for a few minutes and let it sink in that I've got 3-4 days of zero responsibilities and much debauchery ahead of me.

    1. Always reading Jared Tendler's books when I am on the plane heading to Vegas.
    2. When I arrive at my room I always turn all the lights on.
    3. I always have a satisfying meal before I head to the baccarat tables.
    4. I always start my play at around 2 am in the morning since my arrival is around 10PM or so coming straight from work.
    5. I always tone down my play on my second day. $10 to $25 tables and not any higher.
    6. The very last table I play on my last day is always before dinner.
    7. Always head to Walgreens and get myself tons of fruits and chocolate milk.
    8. On my second day I always jog from the Wynn down to the Monte Carlo and back in the early mornings when it is cold.
    9. When I am not staying at the Wynn/Encore I always eat at least at one of the restaurants there.
    10. Always play just one baccarat table at the Bellagio. Even winning just $100 I enjoy rubbing it to those snotty dealers expeciting/hoping I would lose. They don't say it but you can see/read it on their faces. Sometimes that goes for the Cosmo too nowadays.

    1. When I used to drive from California to Vegas I would pop in Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler" when Primm came into view. Now I play it when I first get my rental car.
    2. Stop by Walgreens or Wal Mart and get two gallons of water, soda, and body wash.
    3. Check into my room, take a shower, then decompress from traveling while reading Las Vegas Weekly.
    4. I always arrive on Sunday mornings so I hit the brunch buffet.
    5. Regret eating so much at the brunch buffet.

When we stay at the Cal Downtown we always rub the head and tummy of the plump wooden Buddha statue by the registration desk area.

This is pretty standard for everyone staying at the Cal. The statue's head and tummy is all worn bare from the constant rubbing...

And no, I don't recall seeing any other "parts" of the statue that show signs of being rubbed...:evillaugh

Get the hotel limo and check-in, unpack in about 10 minutes and be at the Boar's Bar usually in one hour from touchdown, depending on the speed of the luggage.

If we have a later flight, we always say lets go to the 777 for some food before we start, but somehow it never works that way. Lets go gamble, we can eat later! :evillaugh

No staying in the room to decompress, we've been on an almost 4 hour flight and are ready to gamble. :poke:

We do have one minor ritual...we try and walk from MSS to ElCo every morning, just to stretch the legs and perhaps make a stop at Walgreens.

Also I would visit The Star Trek Experience once every time I visit. Too bad that it was closed. At least I get to see and experienced it once in 2007.

After getting room, head over to Ellis island for the steak special.

My buddy always hits up the flamingo 8am talk at the Flamingho at least once a trip.

The one thing we've done consistantly since 07 is limo to the hotel. It's just a great way to start the vacation. If we fly in on a Saturday then Sunday we do the Sterling Brunch. Once we've checked into the hotel and had our luggage delivered we go to the MGM (unless we're staying there) and drop 300-500 into the Lion Share progressive. That's when we know the stupid drunken gambling has begun.

    1. I take photographs of my room when I enter even if I have stayed in it a million times.

    2. I must go to Ellis Island for ribs and Dupars at Golden gate for pancakes each trip. I used to make sure I had fried oreos at mermaids each trip but this happens less and less...for no reason in particular. I used to also go to Rio buffet religiously each trip but not anymore.

    3. Especially for longer trips, I learned to not play much at all on my first night. Rather I take a nice, relaxing nap (particularly if it's late) or I hit the strip quickly and soak up all the energy to get me pumped for another go-round. I used to hit the casino hard on my first night, especially with shorter trips but I so much enjoy relaxing way more.

    4. Before coming I always think, I'm not going to take the airport shuttle, I'm not going to take the airport shuttle. And then I take the airport shuttle. I even enjoy the ride, soaking up the sights.

    5. I change all my big bills ($20/$100) to small bills ($5/$1). Then it feels like play money, which I have lots of!

Our rituals revolve around getting there. Since we travel from Socal, we drive. Always stop at Del Taco in Barstow (Best one Ive had). Green burrito and french fries for me, chicken burrito and fries for the wife.

Always stop in Primm to the Chevron station to "use the facilities" I'd prefer to get there, but she always wants to stop "in case there's traffic" LOL

When we get there, Orleans usually, we head directly to the room after check in, unpack EVERYTHING and put it away (that's her, I'm chomping at the bit to get back downstairs). Pull all our bankroll out and divide it up how we want daily and/or sessions.

After that, it's a free for all with all prior made plans going directly out the little window....It's easy to do at the Orleans with the little one in the bathroom you can open :evillaugh

Interesting I've heard a few people mention the Barstow Del Taco. I assumed all Del Tacos are the same. Now I'm going to have to check it out.
