The rules seemed to have changed for what type of play gets a host/offers. I'm reading some posts now where black/purple chip players are getting the cold shoulder. I never thought anyone playing at that level would have any issues. I'm hoping we can get some type of consensus on what play gets you at different casinos.

I play mainly $25 double deck pitch tables, $25 Bac tables and $10 craps tables. My max bet rarely goes over $200 and probably average $50-$100 6+ hours a day. I don't play much on slots but probably run $1,000-$1,500 of table games winnings thru over the course of a trip.

This used to get me free rooms at Caesars properties (except Caesars) free buffets and a small comp balance. Ocasionally I would get an offer for a slot tournament. This play got me nothing at any MGM property ever. Hit or miss on GVR or Red Rock rooms comped.

I did finally get some type of host at Caesars but tried to use her for an upcoming trip and she said my account went back to the general pool so she was completely useless. After my account went back to normal I've gotten no free rooms.

Anyone willing to share how you generally play and what offers you typically get? Are the black and green chip players relagated to mail offers only? Are they the new red chip player? Has everything shifted to slots only and tables only if you are betting or losing substantial amounts?

When I first went to Vegas 17 years ago a green/black chip player was treated pretty well. Now not so much. If the rules/norms have changed that's o.k., but what are they? Thougts?

I play $200 average bet per hand in BJ @ MGM properties and all I get is a free room, IF I'm lucky.

Are you asking what level of play warrants a host or what level of play gets you certain comps?

If you say you average $50-$100 hand for 6 hours/day they probably have you rated at closer to $50 than $100.
What you get is going to depend on the property.
At Caesars or PH probably nothing but casino rate.
At Quad or Harrah's maybe a little more.
I have a good friend who plays at very similar stakes and hours and he gets casino rate at Aria and MGM.

Bottom line is comps have tightened over the years especially the last 5 years.

I normally play $25 BJ and $10 craps, with some slots. At MGM properties i have played mostly at the Mirage and MGM. All year i have consistently been getting offers for at least on comped night and then $55-$79 for additional nights. At CET I can pretty much always get comped rooms at Flamingo, Harrahs, Quad, Rio. During really slow times of the year (December) i can get comped rooms anywhere, including Caesars.

For what its worth, I have heard from friends and others on this board that people with my level of play have started to get the comped offers from the Venetian/ Palazzo again.

I play 5$ craps 3-4-5 and 10-25$ bj and also Vp at 5-25ยข level. I plan on risking a total of 600$ a day Max. Only go to Vegas 3-4 times a year. Free rooms and food within reason charged to the room and taken care of. Seldom hit the daily limit-SELDOM go on tilt but have done so. Going in October for five nights with a craps tourney on Saturday. I am happy but not on the strip either. Maybe 30 years ago a must but not now. Betting 500$ a hand....not my comfort level unless their money. Good luck to you.

don't believe everything you read. purple chip players should have no problem getting taken care of anywhere. black chip depends on what level. at $100 you're on the low end of getting a host to take care of you, but it depends on the property. $200-300 and you're good for a room and some F&B anywhere you want. green chip players definitely are relegated to mail offers only at most of the nicer strip places.

Exactly what I was thinking. I suspect many people overestimate their average bet and time played.

Like Shifter said, if you are $200 - $300 AND are playing 4+ hours a day of actual tracked time in the system, you will be treated well. I am around $500 for 5 hours a day (all BJ), and I get anything I want within reason (lower end suite, F&B, limo, cabana, shows, etc).

    - My experience is MGM/Mlife properties. I do not stay at CET properties.
    - I am 100% table player. I have no insight into slot based comps.

im no expert in this area, but I hear a lot of customers talk about the last 5 years how much the comps have changed. A friend that is a casino host said what a lot of places do is to setup a marker. $1000 a day at the big casinos isn't much, but smaller or older places you can negotiate more. Its easier to get comps during the week than weekends. A friend works at Riviera and they do a lot of comps. Hard Rock from what is hear is doing a little more now. We just had a guy that was doing 2k hands at Flamingo and they called us to cover his bill, so you never know. build a relationship with a casino host, if they only see you once a year and spending 3k a trip, your not getting much, but if you come a few times a year, try and work with the same host. They do have more pull, especially the ones that have been around a while.

the property ur playing at has alot to do with it.

at excaliber a 50$ may work where at bellagio it will take 500$ .so all depends on what your looking for and what u want the host to do.

food, airfair ,hotel ,limos .so there are so many factors that are in play.

ok, I am an admitted confused observer. We are talking about people betting 500 $ a HAND and then trying to compare comps and rooms and food and kissey-kissey up front but really, in a 4 or 5 hour period of time IF that is TRUELY the bet, wouldn't it be more practical to make TWO (2) less bets per day and pay for all that stuff up front and then wait for a host to approach you with an offer for continued play at that level. Two bets at 500 is obviously 1000$.......that is a lot of kissey-kissey. Can someone clarify or is it just ego sitting and playing for such high stakes (IMO) and not wanting to bother with the ticky-tacky.....

I have dealt with high rollers that are comped at one place and partying and gambling at another. Running million dollar markers spending $100s of thousands. It's really about what you can get for free. In a reality people should have some agreement with casino host on what they get for what they spend.

This is the rub for me. Back in the day, hosts would tell you, sometimes even have a letter waiting for you at checkin, that outlined their expectations for various levels of comps. Today, its difficult to tell what is required to receive different levels of comps. I ask my hosts at various properties and they usually say, "just play like you normally do and you will be fine". That doesnt answer the question. They like to keep in shrouded it mystery so you are likely to play more to make sure you are doing your part.

The casinos don't comp like they used to, everyone knows. People would come out gamble one day here, one day there and want to pick out of the 2. These new hosts can't keep whales cause the casino holds them back. A friend told me that if someone isnt gambling $10k a day for 3 days its very difficult to get anything more than a room , dinner and limo to and from airport. Funny thing is that MGM resorts has 16-22 private jets in Vegas on any given day.

If you read natedog posts in his old threads it's pretty clear. For table games a host is a gateway for u to get back a bonus from what u will gamble. He even does the math in his post.

If you google a "comps" calculator you can see how much extra you are entitled to. With out a host you can't really get that back.

Up front offers are just a way to get u to come to their property. Some have the luxury of many places to chose from.

As for gambling high stakes. It's prob related to income. Anyone playing 500 a hand can afford the room and food. But we just want to get the perks we are mathematically suppose to get.

Many on the board won't have much fun playing 5or 10 dollar hands. So we play at a level that's exciting.

Degenerate gamblers will still play even without the free stuff tho.

I am not sure what you mean by "kissey-kissey" or "ticky-tacky".

I use my host to arrange everything for me - single point of contact. It allows me to get rooms, cabanas, tickets, etc when they would otherwise be "sold out" for most. I like the VIP treatment and "access" it gives me. However, I actually never even ask about upfront cost or comps when I deal with my host: I simply let him know what I need for the trip, I go, enjoy, gamble, spend... and on the back end, I have always been lucky enough to get all or most of my expenses comped. I gamble at the level I do for for the thrill, not the comps.

I think you will find that people betting $500 a hand do not care about upfront comps - any negotiations happen on the back end. It is the players at lower levels who focus on the upfront offers because they almost never get any additional comps above and beyond the offer on the back end.

An earlier post stated 500 a hand all day and all they get is a free room......You apparently have it figured out. I just couldn't get a grasp on 500 multiple times an hour and only receiving what would probably otherwise be an unused room. Not looking to argue just observe.

as I said before, don't believe everything you read. a host is a way to get something back for your gambling expenditures. if you're a gambler, you're going to gamble anyway. so you might as well get something back like free rooms and food, tickets, etc and VIP treatment as well.

the concept of "holding back 2 bets" doesn't really work because if you knew which 2 bets were going to lose, you wouldn't bet them. so maybe you're holding back 2 winning bets in which case you didn't just save $1000, you cost yourself $1000. but really any true gambler considers gambling bankroll to be separate from other expenditures. so paying out of pocket for F&B even if you made a big winner at the tables feels really shitty. I remember one trip a long time ago I won $10k but had low theo and high expenses so had to come out of pocket for about $4k. felt like I got totally raped regardless of the fact that I still came home $6k ahead.
